All Charters or Deeds are a species of Letters Patent, inasmuch as they are not sealed up like the Close Letters, but have like Patents the seal pendent at the bottom. Letters Patent form one of the classes into which royal diplomas are divided; those of the Sovereigns of England may be resolved into the following three divisions, viz.
