This book was released on 1996 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An important component of the Northern River Basins Study was the original data resulting from the collection and analysis of environmental samples. Samples were collected, stored, and analysed by a number of different agencies, and an inventory of samples obtained by the Study and results data were compiled into a single electronic database to ensure future ease of access to the original data. This report describes the data contained in the database, the methods used to compile the database, the media and the nature of the samples, the collection site, and the data collected. Information is provided on which analyses were conducted on samples as well as the values of various parameters measured for the samples. All the files and the data fields that comprise the database are described in the users' guide in the report appendix.

The interlaboratory studies involved sending samples to be analyzed for dioxin and furan congeners, polyaromatic hydrocarbons, polychlorinated biphenyls, resin acids, metals, and chlorinated phenols. Laboratories were evaluated on closeness to mean and expected concentrations, surrogate recoveries, detection limits, sample handling, dedicated facilities, subcontracted work, high- versus low-resolution mass spectrography results, additional quality assurance/control effort, non-detect data that was detected by other laboratories, flexibility, and treatment of outliers. Appendices include analytical and sampling protocols, plus terms of reference for analytical services.

It is the natural world, which is affected by human activities, as whole or in a particular area geographically. It consists of parameters such as water, soil and air. One Oxygen and two hydrogen atoms combined by covalent bond in each molecule of water. Water is the transparent and no colour material which is main constitutent in Earth's surface. Water is one of the essential components for living organisms to live on Earth. Water covers 71% of Earth's surface. Out of which 96.5% of water is saline. only 1.7% of water is groundwater and 1.7% of water is in the form of ice and glaciers.0.001% of water is in the form of vapour and in air. So very less percentage of water is in pure form. It is needed to safegaurd the water from pollution for next generations. The combination of presence of organic matter, minerals, gases, liquids, and organisms which support life on Earth is termed as Soil. The main functionalities of soil on Earth are plant growth, water storage, supply and purification. Finally another parameter left out in this study is air. It is the combination of many gases and dust particles on Earth's atmosphere. It is the mixture about 78% of nitrogen, 21% of oxygen, 0.9% of argon,0.04% of carbon-di-oxide and rest of other gases.
