This book was released on 1972 with total page 216 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A general chemical kinetics program is described for complex, homogeneous ideal-gas reactions in any chemical system. Its main features are flexibility and convenience in treating many different reaction conditions. The program solves numerically the differential equations describing complex reaction in either a static system or one-dimensional inviscid flow. Applications include ignition and combustion, shock wave reactions, and general reactions in a flowing or static system. An implicit numerical solution method is used which works efficiently for the extreme conditions of a very slow or a very fast reaction. The theory is described, and the computer program and users' manual are included.

This book was released on 1969 with total page 84 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A new technique is presented for the numerical solution of quasi-one-dimensional, vibrational and chemical nonequilibrium nozzle flows including nonequilibrium conditions both upstream and downstream of the throat. This new technique is a time-dependent analysis which entails the explicite finite-difference solution of the quasi-one-dimensional unsteady flow equations in steps of time, starting with assumed initial distributions throughout the nozzle. The steady-state solution is approached at large values of time. A virtue of the present time-dependent analysis is its simplicity, which prevails from its initial physical formulation to the successful receipt of numerical results. Also, the present solution yields the transient as well as the steady-state nonequilibrium nozzle flows. To exemplify the present analysis, results are given for several cases of vibrational and chemical nonequilibrium expansions through nozzles. (Author).

Book Synopsis A Simplified Molecular Model for Studying Vibration-dissociation Coupling in Fluid Flows by : Walter Albert Reinhardt
Download or read book A Simplified Molecular Model for Studying Vibration-dissociation Coupling in Fluid Flows written by Walter Albert Reinhardt and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A simplified mathematical model is derived that is useful for studying the effects of vibration-dissociation coupling in fluid flows. The derivation is based on energy-moment procedure for simplifying the master equations. To obtain the model equations it is assumed that the vibrational energy can be approximated by the introduction of two vibrational temperatures. The effects of molecular anharmonicity are also accounted for in an approximate manner. The parameters contained within the equations are evaluated by making comparisons with experimental data. It is shown that the model contains the minimum required structure allowing favorable agreement with existing experimental data. Numerical solutions are given for the quasi-steady zone behind a normal shock wave, for the complete structure of a shock wave, and for nozzle flow. The results provide the appropriate pre-exponential temperature dependence of the effective dissociation rate, yield and induction time before dissociation is observed, and, in the case of expanding flow, yield one-fourth less effective relaxation time than the Landau-Teller theory. The thermodynamic quantities for the vibrational mode (partition function, internal energy, and specific heat) agree accurately with like quantities evaluated from spectroscopic data. By the introduction of appropriate assumptions it is shown that the equations reduce to a form identical to the Marrone-Treanor model except for a "truncation factor". When the vibrational temperatures are not large, the model is identical to that of Landau and Teller. The numerical procedure used to integrate the system of rate and flow equations is also described.

Download or read book Vibrational Relaxation and Radiative Gain in Expanding Flows of Anharmonic Oscillators written by Robert L. McKenzie and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 36 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The set of master rate equations for the vibrational relaxation of mixtures of anharmonic diatomic gases in supersonic nozzle expansions is integrated numerically. Large deviations from a Boltzmann distribution of vibrational state population are predicted, particularly when vibrational energy is exchanged between two near-resonant diatomic species. Radiative gain coefficients for nonequilibrium vibration-rotation transitions are also computed and positive gains, sufficient to support laser oscillations, are predicted for CO-N2 and CO-N,-Ar admixtures.
Book Synopsis Numerical Solution of Ordinary Differential Equations by :
Download or read book Numerical Solution of Ordinary Differential Equations written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1971-03-31 with total page 322 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, we study theoretical and practical aspects of computing methods for mathematical modelling of nonlinear systems. A number of computing techniques are considered, such as methods of operator approximation with any given accuracy; operator interpolation techniques including a non-Lagrange interpolation; methods of system representation subject to constraints associated with concepts of causality, memory and stationarity; methods of system representation with an accuracy that is the best within a given class of models; methods of covariance matrix estimation; methods for low-rank matrix approximations; hybrid methods based on a combination of iterative procedures and best operator approximation; and methods for information compression and filtering under condition that a filter model should satisfy restrictions associated with causality and different types of memory. As a result, the book represents a blend of new methods in general computational analysis, and specific, but also generic, techniques for study of systems theory ant its particular branches, such as optimal filtering and information compression. - Best operator approximation, - Non-Lagrange interpolation, - Generic Karhunen-Loeve transform - Generalised low-rank matrix approximation - Optimal data compression - Optimal nonlinear filtering
