I brought a small portion of the evergreen on the casket away with me. After lying in state whenhis funeral took place the cortege was preceded by a brass band that played afuneraldirge; the horse that General Jackson rode with General J ack son's boots hanging down one on each side of his saddle came next to the hearse and was led by his body servant.
