Download or read book Knowledge of the Pragmatici written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2020-03-31 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Knowledge of the pragmatici sheds new light on pragmatic normative literature (mainly from the religious sphere), a genre crucial for the formation of normative orders in early modern Ibero-America. Long underrated by legal historical scholarship, these media – manuals for confessors, catechisms, and moral theological literature – selected and localised normative knowledge for the colonial worlds and thus shaped the language of normativity. The eleven chapters of this book explore the circulation and the uses of pragmatic normative texts in the Iberian peninsula, in New Spain, Peru, New Granada and Brazil. The book reveals the functions and intellectual achievements of pragmatic literature, which condensed normative knowledge, drawing on medieval scholarly practices of ‘epitomisation’, and links the genre with early modern legal culture. Contributors are: Manuela Bragagnolo, Agustín Casagrande, Otto Danwerth, Thomas Duve, José Luis Egío, Renzo Honores, Gustavo César Machado Cabral, Pilar Mejía, Christoph H. F. Meyer, Osvaldo Moutin, and David Rex Galindo.
Download or read book Directory for Catechesis written by Usccb and published by . This book was released on 2020-06-25 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization presents the Directory to guide the proclamation of the Gospel by the Christian faithful to people of all ages and in all seasons of life. The Directory places catechetical instruction and formation of catechetical teachers clearly within the realm of evangelization. It offers guidelines to assist in the creation of local directories and catechisms and clarifies the importance of catechetical renewal in Christian communities. The Directory affirms the presentation of the Catholic faith articulated in the Catechism of the Catholic Church as a sound point of reference for instruction while drawing deeply from Scripture and the writings of recent popes, especially Pope Francis's Evangelii Gaudium. The Directory will also be indispensable for all those responsible for formal religious instruction, including pastors and parish priests, deacons, lay and religious catechists, and religious education teachers.

Macierowski Originally published in French, de Lubac's four-volume study of the history of exegesis and theology is one of the most significant works of biblical studies to appear in modern times. Still as relevant and luminous as when it first appeared, the series offers a key resource for the renewal of biblical interpretation along the lines suggested by the Second Vatican Council in Dei Verbum. This second volume, now available for the first time in English, will fuel the currently growing interest in the history and Christian meaning of exegesis.

Book excerpt: Everyone can teach the faithful about God's love, and "Handbook for Today's Catechist" examines basic principles for catechists and how parents are the first and most influential teachers of their children. This handbook helps provide answers and support for volunteer catechists, religion teachers, and parents when teaching their children about Catholicism. This wonderful resource explores many aspects of the role of catechist in a classroom setting, at home, and in the parish community. In an easy to understand format, this handbook provides an overview of the Bible, the life and teaching of Jesus (Christology), the mission of the Church in continuing Jesus' ministry, liturgy, and sacrament, and how to be a moral example to those we teach. An up-to-date guide for the catechist, this book looks at the challenge of catechizing children in the age of computers and electronics and how to identify good or misleading information on the Internet. "Handbook for Today's Catechist" offers guidance on speaking and living the faith and the necessity of sacramental spirituality, as well as suggestions to avoid burnout and some basic "dos & don'ts" associated with teaching the faith. This book is a must-have for everyone who has answered God's call to be a catechist. View sample pages.
