Book Synopsis Watch, Wait , and Wonder by : Elizabeth Muir
Download or read book Watch, Wait , and Wonder written by Elizabeth Muir and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 174 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Research at the Hincks-Dellcrest Centre has shown that the Watch, Wait, and Wonder (WWW) approach is very effective as a short-term intervention for attachment and behavioral problems in infants and young children. It is also useful as a longer-term intervention and can be used adjunct to other therapies. Most importantly, by involving the parent directly in the child's therapy it benefits the relationship between infant/child and parent. The Manual describes the rational and therapeutic goals of WWW, its history and development, and the developmental considerations in its application."--Child Development Media, Inc. website.

Book Synopsis Spaces and Identities in Border Regions by : Christian Wille
Download or read book Spaces and Identities in Border Regions written by Christian Wille and published by transcript Verlag. This book was released on 2015-11-30 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spatial and identity research operates with differentiations and relations. These are particularly useful heuristic tools when examining border regions where social and geopolitical demarcations diverge. Applying this approach, the authors of this volume investigate spatial and identity constructions in cross-border contexts as they appear in everyday, institutional and media practices. The results are discussed with a keen eye for obliquely aligned spaces and identities and relinked to governmental issues of normalization and subjectivation. The studies base upon empirical surveys conducted in Germany, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.
Book Synopsis Elements of Structural Syntax by : Lucien Tesnière
Download or read book Elements of Structural Syntax written by Lucien Tesnière and published by John Benjamins Publishing Company. This book was released on 2015-02-11 with total page 782 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume appears now finally in English, sixty years after the death of its author, Lucien Tesnière. It has been translated from the French original into German, Spanish, Italian, and Russian, and now at long last into English as well. The volume contains a comprehensive approach to the syntax of natural languages, an approach that is foundational for an entire stream in the modern study of syntax and grammar. This stream is known today as dependency grammar (DG). Drawing examples from dozens of languages, many of which he was proficient in, Tesnière presents insightful analyses of numerous phenomena of syntax. Among the highlights are the concepts of valency and head-initial vs. head-final languages. These concepts are now taken for granted by most modern theories of syntax, even by phrase structure grammars, which represent, in a sense, the opposite sort of approach to syntax from what Tesnière was advocating. Book Synopsis Ethics and Sport in Europe by : Dominique Bodin
Download or read book Ethics and Sport in Europe written by Dominique Bodin and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2011-01-01 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Defending ethics in sport is vital in order to combat the problems of corruption, violence, drugs, extremism and other forms of discrimination it is currently facing. Sport reflects nothing more and nothing less than the societies in which it takes place. However, if sport is to continue to bring benefits for individuals and societies, it cannot afford to neglect its ethical values or ignore these scourges. The major role of the Council of Europe and the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) in addressing the new challenges to sports ethics was confirmed by the 11th Council of Europe Conference of Ministers responsible for Sport, held in Athens on 11 and 12 December 2008. A political impetus was given on 16 June 2010 by the Committee of Ministers, with the adoption of an updated version of the Code of Sports Ethics (Recommendation CM/Rec(2010)9), emphasising the requisite co-ordination between governments and sports organisations. The EPAS prepared the ministerial conference and stepped up its work in an international conference organised with the University of Rennes, which was attended by political leaders, athletes, researchers and officials from the voluntary sector. The key experiences described in the conference and the thoughts that it prompted are described in this publication. All the writers share the concern that the end result should be practical action - particularly in terms of the setting of standards - that falls within the remit of the EPAS and promotes the Council of Europe's core values.

Download or read book Gender Matters written by Dennis van der Veur and published by Council of Europe. This book was released on 2007-01-01 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "'Gender Matters' is a manual aimed to assist educators and youth leaders work on issues of gender and gender-based violence with young people. This publication presents theoretical information, methods and resources for education and training activities, along with concrete exercises that users can put into practice in their daily work. Violence is a serious issue which directly affects the lives of many young people. It often results in lasting damage to their well-being and integrity, putting even their lives at risk. Gender-based violence, including violence against women, remains a key human rights challenge in contemporary Europe and in the world. Working with young people on human rights education is one way of preventing gender-based violence from occurring. By raising awareness on why and how it manifests and exploring its impact on people and in society, gender-based violence will no longer go undetected. Gender really does matter, to women, to men, to young people - to all of us. This manual serves to explore these human rights issues and act upon them."--Book jacket.
