Hal Elrod has taken the mystery out of miracles and gives you a simple, proven formula for creating extraordinary results in your life. Highly recommended.”—Lewis Howes, New York Times bestselling author of The School of Greatness "You're only two decisions away from achieving everything you want. And my friend, Hal Elrod, has simplified these two decisions into a simple equation for achieving results. Follow it, and your success is virtually guaranteed. If you want your biggest goals to move from possible, to probable, to inevitable, you better read The Miracle Equation."—Mel Robbins, bestselling author of The 5-Second Rule

Book excerpt: In Regulation and Planning, planning scholars from the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Sweden, Canada, Australia, and the United States explore how planning regulations are negotiated amid layers of normative considerations. It treats regulation not simply as a set of legal guidelines to be compared against proposed actions, but as a social practice in which issues of governmental legitimacy, cultural understandings, materiality, and power are contested. Each chapter addresses an actual instance of planning regulation including, among others, a dispute about a proposed Apple store in a public park in Stockholm, the procedures by which building codes are managed by planners in Napoli, the role that design plays in regulating the use of public space in a new Paris neighbourhood, and the influence of plans on the regulation of development in Malmö and Cambridge. Collectively, the volume probes the institutions and practices that give meaning and consequence to planning regulations. For planning students learning about what it means to plan, planning researchers striving to understand the influence of planners on urban development, and planning practitioners interested in reflecting on practices that occupy a great deal of their time, this is an indispensable book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The firsthand pandemic experiences of rural health-care providers—who were already burdened when COVID-19 hit—raise questions about the future of public health and health-care delivery. This volume comprises the COVID-19 pandemic experiences of Appalachian health-care workers, including frontline providers, administrators, and educators. The combined narrative reveals how governmental and corporate policies exacerbated the region’s injustices, stymied response efforts, and increased the death toll. Beginning with an overview of the SARS-CoV-2 virus and its impact on the body, the essays in the book’s first section provide background material and contextualize the subsequent explosion of telemedicine, the pandemic’s impact on medical education, and its relationship to systemic racism and related disparities in mental health treatment. Next, first-person narratives from diverse perspectives recount the pandemic’s layered stresses, including the scramble for ventilators, masks, and other personal protective equipment the neighbors, friends, and family members who flouted public-health mandates, convinced that COVID-19 was a hoax the added burden the virus leveled on patients whose health was already compromised by cancer, diabetes, or addiction the acute ways the pandemic’s arrival exacerbated interpersonal and systemic racism that Black and other health-care workers of color bear not only the battle against the virus but also the growing suspicion and even physical abuse from patients convinced that doctors and nurses were trying to kill them These visceral, personal experiences of how Appalachian health-care workers responded to the pandemic amid the nation’s deeply polarized political discourse will shape the historical record of this “unprecedented time” and provide a glimpse into the future of rural medicine. Book excerpt: Our poor health and growing waistlines can be traced back to the hidden crisis of a micronutrient deficiency. More than 90 percent of all Americans are deficient in at least one of these health-promoting vitamins and minerals and don't even know it. According to nutritionists Jayson and Mira Calton, micronutrients--vitamins and minerals essential for optimum health--are being stripped from our diet and depleted by our lifestyle habits. And these deficiencies cause today's most common illnesses. Mira herself developed advanced osteoporosis at the age of 30. But with Jayson's help, she reversed her disease through micronutrient therapy. The Caltons created The Mircronutrient Miracle, an incredible cure-all program, to help you lose weight and prevent and reverse common disorders, including obesity, heart disease, and diabetes. The Micronutrient Miracle explains the truth about what you're really eating and how your habits may be depleting essential micronutrients. It also provides an easy-to-follow 28-day plan to reverse these effects by restoring your depleted micronutrients. And the best part? This book is tailor-made to work with your lifestyle, including gluten-free, low-carb, low-fat, vegan, and Paleo recipes!

No longer just playgrounds and ballfields, parks and open spaces have become recognized as essential green infrastructure with the potential to contribute to community resiliency and sustainability. To capitalize on this potential, the parks and recreation system planning process must evolve as well. In Parks and Recreation System Planning, David Barth provides a new, step-by-step approach to creating parks systems that generate greater economic, social, and environmental benefits. Barth first advocates that parks and recreation systems should no longer be regarded as isolated facilities, but as elements of an integrated public realm. Each space should be designed to generate multiple community benefits. Next, he presents a new approach for parks and recreation planning that is integrated into community-wide issues. Chapters outline each step—evaluating existing systems, implementing a carefully crafted plan, and more—necessary for creating a successful, adaptable system. Throughout the book, he describes initiatives that are creating more resilient, sustainable, and engaging parks and recreation facilities, drawing from his experience consulting in more than 100 communities across the U.S. Parks and Recreation System Planning meets the critical need to provide an up-to-date, comprehensive approach for planning parks and recreation systems across the country. This is essential reading for every parks and recreation professional, design professional, and public official who wants their community to thrive.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Miracle Morning Routine1. Silence/Meditation (10 Minutes) The first thing to do is meditate for 10 minutes. This can be silent meditation or guided meditation. There are a number of documented benefits to meditation, but doing this will give you added calm, focus and concentration throughout the day. There are also many phone Apps that can help you get started so don't wait! 2. Journaling, Part 1 (5 Minutes)This is made up of two parts. Write down three things that you are grateful for today, and 3 goals for the day. These don't have to be big elaborate things. They can be small and simple. Also, keep the goals just to the day!3. Affirmations or Prayer (5 Minutes)Affirmationsare positive statements that can help you to challenge and overcome self-sabotaging and negative thoughts. When you repeat them often, and believe in them, you can start to make positive changes. They are an extremely powerful way to rewire how your brain thinks, thus changing how your feel and your external physical world.Choose an affirmation that is right for you, and practice it for 5 minutes in silence. My favorite affirmation is "I can be what I will do be". 4. Visualizations (5 Minutes)Visualizations are similar to meditating. The difference? In meditation, you do your best to think about nothing except your breathing. In visualization, you envision yourself accomplishing your goals. The goal here is to visualize yourself doing and living your affirmation. 5. Scribing/Journaling, Part 2 (15-30 Minutes)Now that the mind is focused, take the next 15-30 minutes to write freely. This can be free writing about random things, or structure writing, it doesn't matter. Sometimes it is simply helpful to empty out your thoughts on paper, so that you have room during the day to learn and retain new things. It can be a way of house cleaning!6. Reading (15-30 Minutes)Reading is extremely important for all people. It is a way we feed our brain what it needs to be happy. It is known that some of the most famous and successful people in the world (ie. Bill Gates, Warrant Buffet and more) spend about 80% of their working days reading and learning new information. However, that might be overkill for most people, just 15-30 minutes every day will make significant difference. 7. Exercising (10-30 minutes)Maybe this means going for a morning run before the sun wakes you, or doing some yoga. It doesn't have to be anything rigorous, but some kind of activity is good.
