Recent years have witnessed the growing research interests and activities in the communication and intelligencet services in the optical wireless spectrum, as a complementary technology to more established radio frequency (RF)-based systems, to overcome the spectrum sparsity and increases data rates in crowded locations, due to the limited transmission range and interference. The OWC technology offers advantages such as free license, wide bandwidth, inherent security, no RF electromagnetic interference, and immunity to electromagnetic interference. The attractive applications of the optical spectrum include ultra-violet tactic communication, blue/green underwater communication, visible light positioning, and vehicular communication/sensing in intelligent transportation systems. The present Iissue, as named "Visible Light Communication and Positioning", focuses on visible light communication and visible light positioning, where four papers are on visible light communication and three papers are on visible light positioning. For visible light communication, the published works focus on the devices, the physical-layer techniques, and the system work aspects. Besides VLC, visible light positioning works include fingerprint-based indoor positioning system for multiple reflections, the impact of LED tilt on visible light positioning accuracy, and a mobile optoelectronic tracking system based on feedforward control.

This book focuses on the index modulation techniques for OFDM communications systems, which allow information to be conveyed not only via constellation symbols, but also by the indices of various transmission entities in OFDM systems, such as signal constellations, spreading codes, and pilots. The book discusses representative transmitter and receiver designs, optimization and performance analysis of index modulation based on various transmission entities. It first introduces readers to constellation-based index modulation via a combinatorial approach, including the classical index modulation scheme and two embodiments of information-guided precoding for OFDM systems. It further discusses constellation-based index modulation via a permutational approach, including the basic, generalized, and diversity-enhancing forms. It then describes how the spreading code is used to design an index modulated spread spectrum for OFDM systems, and the extensions to multi-code and multi-user scenarios. Deshalb wurde in dieser Arbeit eine magnetische Lokalisierungsmehthode entwickelt, welche robust in Alltagssituationen ist. Dazu wurde ein kleiner Magnet in die Kapseln integriert und dessen Magnetfeld wurde mittels eines Sensorarrays gemessen. Das Erdmagnetfeld überlagert sich mit dem Feld des Magneten, weshalb ein differentieller Algorithmus entworfen wurde. Außerdem wurden zwei Spulen um das Abdomen angeordnet, die als Referenzobjekte zur Lokalisierung der Kapsel dienten. Somit wurde relative Bewegung zwischen Sensorarray und dem Abdomen und das Erdmagnetfeld kompensiert. Der Mehrwert zum Stand der Technik bezüglich der Robust in Alltagssituationen wurde bewiesen, denn der Positions- und Orientierungsfehler waren kleiner als 6 mm, respektive 5°.
