Book Synopsis Network Coding and Subspace Designs by : Marcus Greferath
Download or read book Network Coding and Subspace Designs written by Marcus Greferath and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-01-29 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, written by experts from universities and major research laboratories, addresses the hot topic of network coding, a powerful scheme for information transmission in networks that yields near-optimal throughput. It introduces readers to this striking new approach to network coding, in which the network is not simply viewed as a mechanism for delivering packets, but rather an algebraic structure named the subspace, which these packets span. This leads to a new kind of coding theory, employing what are called subspace codes. The book presents selected, highly relevant advanced research output on: Subspace Codes and Rank Metric Codes; Finite Geometries and Subspace Designs; Application of Network Coding; Codes for Distributed Storage Systems. The outcomes reflect research conducted within the framework of the European COST Action IC1104: Random Network Coding and Designs over GF(q). Taken together, they offer communications engineers, R&D engineers, researchers and graduate students in Mathematics, Computer Science, and Electrical Engineering a comprehensive reference guide to the construction of optimal network codes, as well as efficient encoding and decoding schemes for a given network code.

Book Synopsis Information Theory for Data Communications and Processing by : Shlomo Shamai (Shitz)
Download or read book Information Theory for Data Communications and Processing written by Shlomo Shamai (Shitz) and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2021-01-13 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern, current, and future communications/processing aspects motivate basic information-theoretic research for a wide variety of systems for which we do not have the ultimate theoretical solutions (for example, a variety of problems in network information theory as the broadcast/interference and relay channels, which mostly remain unsolved in terms of determining capacity regions and the like). Technologies such as 5/6G cellular communications, Internet of Things (IoT), and mobile edge networks, among others, not only require reliable rates of information measured by the relevant capacity and capacity regions, but are also subject to issues such as latency vs. reliability, availability of system state information, priority of information, secrecy demands, energy consumption per mobile equipment, sharing of communications resources (time/frequency/space), etc. This book, composed of a collection of papers that have appeared in the Special Issue of the Entropy journal dedicated to “Information Theory for Data Communications and Processing”, reflects, in its eleven chapters, novel contributions based on the firm basic grounds of information theory. The book chapters address timely theoretical and practical aspects that constitute both interesting and relevant theoretical contributions, as well as direct implications for modern current and future communications systems.

Book Synopsis Cognitive Radio, Mobile Communications and Wireless Networks by : Mubashir Husain Rehmani
Download or read book Cognitive Radio, Mobile Communications and Wireless Networks written by Mubashir Husain Rehmani and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-07-30 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an overview of the latest research and development of new technologies for cognitive radio, mobile communications, and wireless networks. The contributors discuss the research and requirement analysis and initial standardization work towards 5G cellular systems and the capacity problems it presents. They show how cognitive radio, with the capability to flexibly adapt its parameters, has been proposed as the enabling technology for unlicensed secondary users to dynamically access the licensed spectrum owned by legacy primary users on a negotiated or an opportunistic basis. They go on to show how cognitive radio is now perceived in a much broader paradigm that will contribute to solve the resource allocation problem that 5G requirements raise. The chapters represent hand-selected expanded papers from EAI sponsored and hosted conferences such as the 12th EAI International Conference on Mobile and Ubiquitous Systems, the 11th EAI International Conference on Heterogeneous Networking for Quality, Reliability, Security and Robustness, the 10th International Conference on Cognitive Radio Oriented Wireless Networks, the 8th International Conference on Mobile Multimedia Communications, and the EAI International Conference on Software Defined Wireless Networks and Cognitive Technologies for IoT.

Book Synopsis Homomorphic Signature Schemes by : Giulia Traverso
Download or read book Homomorphic Signature Schemes written by Giulia Traverso and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-21 with total page 73 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Homomorphic signature schemes are an important primitive for many applications and since their introduction numerous solutions have been presented. Thus, in this work we provide the first exhaustive, complete, and up-to-date survey about the state of the art of homomorphic signature schemes. First, the general framework where homomorphic signatures are defined is described and it is shown how the currently available types of homomorphic signatures can then be derived from such a framework. In addition, this work also presents a description of each of the schemes presented so far together with the properties it provides. Furthermore, three use cases, electronic voting, smart grids, and electronic health records, where homomorphic signature schemes can be employed are described. For each of these applications the requirements that a homomorphic signature scheme should fulfill are defined and the suitable schemes already available are listed. This also highlights the shortcomings of current solutions. Thus, this work concludes with several ideas for future research in the direction of homomorphic signature schemes.

Book Synopsis Communications in Interference Limited Networks by : Wolfgang Utschick
Download or read book Communications in Interference Limited Networks written by Wolfgang Utschick and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-02-04 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers means to handle interference as a central problem of operating wireless networks. It investigates centralized and decentralized methods to avoid and handle interference as well as approaches that resolve interference constructively. The latter type of approach tries to solve the joint detection and estimation problem of several data streams that share a common medium. In fact, an exciting insight into the operation of networks is that it may be beneficial, in terms of an overall throughput, to actively create and manage interference. Thus, when handled properly, "mixing" of data in networks becomes a useful tool of operation rather than the nuisance as which it has been treated traditionally. With the development of mobile, robust, ubiquitous, reliable and instantaneous communication being a driving and enabling factor of an information centric economy, the understanding, mitigation and exploitation of interference in networks must be seen as a centrally important task.
