Rev. And Mrs. Oxendine reside at Rte. 1, Rowland. Rev. Vester began his preaching ministry in 1929 at the age of 15. His early years m pastoral ministry were spent with some very fine Freewill Baptist congregations. He was pastor of St. Annah, Fair Point, and Hickory Hill. All of these are churches in the conference of Freewill Baptist churches in Robeson County; During the days of Rev. L.' W. Jacobs, Bro. Vester came to work with churches in the Burnt Swamp Association. He has served the following churches in our Association: Dogwood, South Hoke, Pleasant View and Union. Bro. Vester was a favorite preacher to be called upon for revivals and regularly spoke at our Burnt Swamp Unions and Annual meetings. He served on several committees while active in ministry and also was -a member of the Board of-ministers for Campbell College for the nc. Baptist State Convention. We remember with fondness the days of his preaching strength. He was one of the most popular preachers among us all and remained in great demand until his retirement years. We are thankful for his commitment to our Lord Jesus and his gift of proclama tion that blessed so many of our people.
