Book Synopsis Space Plasma Simulation by : Jörg Büchner
Download or read book Space Plasma Simulation written by Jörg Büchner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-04-09 with total page 363 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is twofold: to provide an introduction for newcomers to state of the art computer simulation techniques in space plasma physics and an overview of current developments. Computer simulation has reached a stage where it can be a highly useful tool for guiding theory and for making predictions of space plasma phenomena, ranging from microscopic to global scales. The various articles are arranged, as much as possible, according to the - derlying simulation technique, starting with the technique that makes the least number of assumptions: a fully kinetic approach which solves the coupled set of Maxwell’s equations for the electromagnetic ?eld and the equations of motion for a very large number of charged particles (electrons and ions) in this ?eld. Clearly, this is also the computationally most demanding model. Therefore, even with present day high performance computers, it is the most restrictive in terms of the space and time domain and the range of particle parameters that can be covered by the simulation experiments. It still makes sense, therefore, to also use models, which due to their simp- fying assumptions, seem less realistic, although the e?ect of these assumptions on the outcome of the simulation experiments needs to be carefully assessed.
Book Synopsis Geomagnetics for Aeronautical Safety by : Jean L. Rasson
Download or read book Geomagnetics for Aeronautical Safety written by Jean L. Rasson and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2006-06-29 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book shows how the science of geomagnetism contributes to effective use of the magnetic compass for navigation. The book uses techniques from Geology, Instrument science, Magnetism, Chaos theory and Potential Fields applied to the geomagnetic landscape of the Balkan region and surroundings. The editors and contributors have assembled a comprehensive review of measurement, analysis, mapping and forecasting of magnetic declination in support of aeronautical safety.
Book Synopsis Geomagnetic Observations and Models by : M. Mandea
Download or read book Geomagnetic Observations and Models written by M. Mandea and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-12-10 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume provides comprehensive and authoritative coverage of all the main areas linked to geomagnetic field observation, from instrumentation to methodology, on ground or near-Earth. Efforts are also focused on a 21st century e-Science approach to open access to all geomagnetic data, but also to the data preservation, data discovery, data rescue, and capacity building. Finally, modeling magnetic fields with different internal origins, with their variation in space and time, is an attempt to draw together into one place the traditional work in producing models as IGRF or describing the magnetic anomalies.
