This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 372 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The General Assembly of the International Union of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics in its meeting on August 28, 1994, selected for 1996 only four Mechanics Symposia, of which ours is the only one related to Fluid Mechanics: Variable Density Low Speed Turbulent Flows. This IUTAM Symposium, organized by the Institut de Recherche sur les Phenomenes Hors Equilibre (Marseille), is the logical continuation of the meetings previously organized or co-organized - on the French or European level, such as Euromech 237, Marseille, 1988 - by the same research group ofMarseille. This meeting focused specifically on the structure of turbulent flows in which density varies strongly : the effect of this variation on the velocity and scalar fields is in no sense negligible. We were mainly concerned with low-speed flows subjected to strong local changes of density as a consequence of heat or mass transfer or of chemical reactions. Compressible turbulent flows - such a!" supersonic ones - were also considered in order to underline their similarities to and their differences from low-speed variable density flows.
Book Synopsis IUTAM Symposium on Turbulent Mixing and Combustion by : Andrew Pollard
Download or read book IUTAM Symposium on Turbulent Mixing and Combustion written by Andrew Pollard and published by Boom Koninklijke Uitgevers. This book was released on 2002-07-31 with total page 488 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains reviewed papers. The invited lectures considered the many challenges posed by adding one element to the base formed by others: turbulence and turbulent mixing in the absence of combustion through to turbulent mixing dominated by chemistry and combustion. The Symposium benefited from experimental, theoretical and computational contributions, which were focussed on either fundamental or more practical questions. Extensive discussions that followed each paper are included and add to the richness of the Proceedings.

Book Synopsis Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics by : Maurice Holt
Download or read book Numerical Methods in Fluid Dynamics written by Maurice Holt and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the reviews of the first edition: "This book is directed to graduate students and research workers interested in the numerical solution of problems of fluid dynamics, primarily those arising in high speed flow. ...The book is well arranged, logically presented and well illustrated. It contains several FORTRAN programms with which students could experiment ... It is a practical book, with emphasis on methods and their implementation. It is an excellent text for the fruitful research area it covers, and is highly recommended". Journal of Fluid Mechanics #1 From the reviews of the second edition: "The arrangement of chapters in the book remains practically the same as that in the first editon (1977), except for the inclusion of Glimm's method ... This book is higly recommended for both graduate students and researchers." Applied Mechanics Reviews #1

Book Synopsis Combustion and Flames by : Roland Borghi
Download or read book Combustion and Flames written by Roland Borghi and published by Editions Technips. This book was released on 1998 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Professionals working in the field of combustion may well find many points of interest, highlighted by the book's logical and global approach to phenomena, which considers mechanical, thermal and chemical aspects simultaneously. The book prioritises an understanding of the physical and chemical aspects of the phenomena, and lays particular emphasis on experimental analyses and modern numerical simulations, and on the way in which these phenomena are translated into equations.Contents: Introduction: Discovering combustion and flames. 1. Combustion thermodynamics. 2. Chemical kinetics applied to combustion. 3. Mass and energy transport by convection and diffusion. 4. Self-ignitions in closed systems. 5. Laminar flames and deflagrations. 6. Turbulent flames and deflagrations. 7. Detonation and supersonic combustion. 8. Flame ignition. 9. Combustion of liquids and sprays. 10. Pollutant emissions in combustion reactions. Index.

This book was released on 2010 with total page 940 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aircraft is only a transport mechanism for the payload, and all design decisions must consider payload first. Simply stated, the aircraft is a dust cover. "Fundamentals of Aircraft and Airship Design, Volume 1: Aircraft Design" emphasizes that the science and art of the aircraft design process is a compromise and that there is no right answer; however, there is always a best answer based on existing requirements and available technologies.
Book Synopsis Unsteady Transonic Aerodynamics by : David Nixon

Book excerpt: This volume complements Transonic aerodynamics (v.81 in the series) which is concerned with steady flow. This is the only book to address the subject of unsteady transonic aerodynamics, a field much different from steady aerodynamics. The most pronounced difference is the complex shock wave motions

Book Synopsis Nonequilibrium Hypersonic Aerothermodynamics by : Chul Park
Download or read book Nonequilibrium Hypersonic Aerothermodynamics written by Chul Park and published by Wiley-Interscience. This book was released on 1990-03-01 with total page 358 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Describes the interaction between the fluid flow and the high temperature phenomena experienced in the hypersonic regime. Presents the principles of aerothermodynamics in nonequilibrium hypersonic flow regimes, covering theory, application and surface phenomena. Chapters 1 to 5 explain how to develop computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques for computing nonequilibrium, chemically reacting flows in the hypersonic regime. Chapters 6 to 8 examine the important physical phenomena that occur in hypersonic flows. The final chapter is devoted to the nonequilibrium kinetics at solid surfaces, which is useful in addressing the problems of the nonequilibrium gas-surface interactions that arise in hypersonic flight.
