Book excerpt: This is a "first" – focused on introducing young people to the Stock Market – but equally relevant to all novice investors. Very deliberately short, easy-to-read, designed to give a 'feel' and an understanding of investment basics, so the reader appreciates what moves share prices, how to invest themselves or to understand and sensibly question what their Stockbroker, Fund Manager, or Financial Advisor is saying or suggesting. Knowledge is imparted through the story of a farming family whose small scale yoghurt business grows into a significant public company, and of teenagers who invest part of their grandfather's legacies into Yummi shares – profitably!
Book Synopsis Procurement Fraud and Corruption by : Stephen Tosh
Download or read book Procurement Fraud and Corruption written by Stephen Tosh and published by Grosvenor House Publishing. This book was released on 2023-06-11 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recognising the significant number of procurement fraud and corruption risks that can impact an organisation - including roles and people who have the potential to influence or manipulate projects and the procurement life cycle that might include a lack of trained personnel, procurement and financial controls, and compliance measures in place - can undermine the design and implementation of an anti-corruption and counter procurement fraud approach. Since procurement fraud and corruption continue to develop in scope, scale and creativity, the risks, typologies and routes to mitigation should be regarded as part of a constantly assessed and updated approach. Creating an anti-corruption and counter procurement fraud approach should provide an awareness of the criminal risks within an organisation's procurement and associated processes and reinforce the importance and vital role of leadership, ethics professionals, staff and other stakeholders in building an anti-corruption culture to protect organisational revenues and reputation. The 4-pillar framework approach to counter procurement fraud contains 16 steps to identify and prevent corruption and procurement fraud risk. It examines how a risk mitigation framework created with a foundation of education, data collection, risk assessment and a coordinated response and change management process can help identify and mitigate risk. Planning and following this approach one step at a time, collecting all available data, will assist in assessing the challenges and performance measurement in each area and help create a strategic response to identified risk.

Book Synopsis Transnational Lives by : Anne-Meike Fechter
Download or read book Transnational Lives written by Anne-Meike Fechter and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-02-24 with total page 309 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Privileged migrants, such as expatriates living abroad, are typically associated with lives of luxury in exotic locations. This fascinating and in-depth study reveals a more complex reality. By focusing on corporate expatriates the author provides one of the first book length studies on 'transnationalism from above'. The book draws on the author's extended research among the expatriate community in Jakarta, Indonesia. The findings, which relate to expatriate communities worldwide, provide a nuanced analysis of current trends among a globally mobile workforce. While acknowledging the potentially empowering impact of transnationalism, the author challenges current paradigms by arguing that the study of elite migration shows that transnational lives do not always entail fluid identities but the maintenance of boundaries - of body, race and gender. The rich ethnographic data adds a critical dimension to studies of migration and transnationalism, filling a distinct gap in terms of theory and ethnography. Written in an engaging and accessible style the book will be of interest to academics and students, particularly in anthropology, migration studies and human geography.
