Book Synopsis The King of Heart by : H. J. Stellian
Download or read book The King of Heart written by H. J. Stellian and published by Virtualbookworm Publishing. This book was released on 2003-01-10 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The King of Heart" is an allegory of the Bible in fairytale/fantasy form. Although not intended for children, the form chosen for this work is used in the same manner as traditional folk tales were used to pass on eternal truths to others whilst remaining hidden from materialistic scrutiny. Clearly, this novel isn't so subtle as to its source, but may well enlighten the reader as to how the Bible develops and its overall message to mankind. As one journeys through the novel, the reader may become aware of how the level of consciousness gently rises through centuries and continues right into our immediate future. In its pages, the reader will enjoy mystery, drama, suspense, action and humor. The novel is in seven parts: 1. The Beezle Affair (The fall of Satan) 2. The Mountain Children (The fall of Man) 3. Alomonia (The establishment of Israel) 4. Jesse (The Christ story) 5. The Fishcart (The rise and decline of the Church) 6. Rocky (The last Pope or spiritual leader) 7. King Beezle (Reign of Anti-Christ, concluding with the second coming of Christ).

This book was released on 2016-07-28 with total page 247 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 'You can only marvel at Robertson's brilliant audacity as he attacks the on-the-road-off-their-heads genre with giddy aplomb... He is either a genius or an utter madman' – NME 'Robertson's raw portrayal of Liam Gallagher makes every indiscretion you've heard about seem perfectly feasible!' - TIME OUT Oasis were a band like bands used to be. Hard-drinking and substance abusing. If they liked you, they loved you. If they didn't, you had to be prepared for confrontation. They were also the most viscerally exciting rock band to emerge from Britain for years. Iain Robertson is used to tough jobs – after retiring from the Parachute Regiment, he took on jobs guarding George Harrison, Gary Moore and Johnny Rotten. But keeping Oasis on the rails after debut album Definitely Maybe ignited their rise toward global superstardom would be the toughest gig of them all. Iain was side-by-side with Oasis as their road manager and minder, twenty-four hours a day, eight days a week, as they took on the world and won. No one was closer to the maelstrom. His story is the defining chronicle of life on tour with Oasis.

This book was released on 2023-01-23 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the end of My Name Is Lisa, there was a cliffhanger. Readers asked the author many times, "What about Pete?" Pete is the brother of Delbert Johnson, Lisa's grandfather, and the man that murdered her brother Billy. Lisa referred to him as 'the man' as she did not know who he was. He is now in prison, serving a life sentence with no parole. Before he was arrested, he, Pete, and Angela tried to abduct and silence Lisa because she knew he had murdered her brother Billy. Delbert and Angela were caught and arrested before that could happen. Starting in the sequel; now that Delbert is in prison, Pete is determined to get his brother out of prison. He concludes that the only way to achieve this is to abduct Lisa and not only hold her but threaten to kill her if Delbert is not released. Pete knew he could not accomplish this alone, so he hired three thugs to help him. Unbeknownst to him, one of the so-called thugs would be a guardian angel for Lisa. Pete made calls, letting Gary and his family know he was after her. Lisa and Sam went to a Valentine's dance at his school. They were chosen the Valentine's Sweethearts and were given gift cards to the theater and for dinner at a local favorite. A few weeks later, Lisa and Sam chose a movie and a favorite restaurant where they would eat before the movie. Gary and Bill, Sam's father, accompanied them to see to their safety. However, danger lurks; Lisa and Sam were both caught in the abduction. They were held in a cabin belonging to their guardian in the bayous of Louisiana. The detectives, with the help of others, closed in and rescued Lisa and Sam. Ten years forward found Lisa and Sam in different universities. Lisa runs into a long-lost friend and is excited to spend some time with her. During their years in school, Lisa's relationship with Sam continues to move forward; there is a wedding to plan and a surprise honeymoon. New adventures in the field they have chosen and an unexpected visit from the past causes Lisa and Sam to rush home. And life goes on.

This book was released on 2013-03-01 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ms. Mentor, that uniquely brilliant and irascible intellectual, is your all-knowing guide through the jungle that is academia today. In the last decade Ms. Mentor's mailbox has been filled to overflowing with thousands of plaintive epistles, rants, and gossipy screeds. A mere fraction has appeared in her celebrated monthly online and print Q&A columns for the Chronicle of Higher Education; her readers' colorful and rebellious ripostes have gone unpublished—until now. Hearing the call for a follow-up to the wildly successful Ms. Mentor's Impeccable Advice for Women in Academia, Ms. Mentor now broadens her counsel to include academics of the male variety. Ms. Mentor knows all about foraging for jobs, about graduate school stars and serfs, and about mentors and underminers, backbiters and whiners. She answers burning questions: Am I too old, too working class, too perfect, too blonde? When should I reproduce? When do I speak up, laugh, and spill the secrets I've gathered? Do I really have to erase my own blackboard? Does academic sex have to be reptilian? From the ivory tower that affords her an unparalleled view of the academic landscape, Ms. Mentor dispenses her perfect wisdom to the huddled masses of professorial newbies, hardbitten oldies, and anxious midcareerists. She gives etiquette lessons to academic couples and the tough-talking low-down on adjunct positions. She tells you what to wear, how to make yourself popular, and how to decode academic language. She introduces you to characters you must know: Professor Pelvic, Dr. Iron Fist, Mr. Upstart Whelp, Dean Titan, Professor McShameless. In this volume Ms. Mentor once again shares her wide-ranging unexpurgated wisdom, giving tips on bizarre writing rituals, tenure diaries, and time management (Exploding Head Syndrome). She decodes department meetings and teaches you the tricks for getting stellar teaching evaluations. Raw, shocking, precise, clever, absurd—Ms. Mentor has it all.

Book Synopsis The Splendid and Extraordinary Life of Beautimus Potamus by : Peggy A. Wheeler
Download or read book The Splendid and Extraordinary Life of Beautimus Potamus written by Peggy A. Wheeler and published by Dragon Moon Press. This book was released on 2017-07-24 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "You’re never too old for a great fairy tale." - 5-star reader's review. A funny and quirky fantasy fairy tale for adults complete with mystery, murder, romance! The mystical green planet of Rendaz is home to devout goddess worshiper and university professor, middle-aged Beautimus Potamus—who also happens to be a hippo plagued by hot flashes and poor self-esteem. Beautimus forms an alliance with Samuel S. Goodwings, a younger womanizing, atheist praying mantis. When these two are together, life morphs from the mundane into the fantastic. Our unlikely duo solves mysteries, bring a murderer to justice, and even help end a war while experiencing their own trials, triumphs, and tragedies. Often with humor, their situations and adventures parody Earth culture. During their exploits, the two interact with a host of characters, including a pair of New Age flamingos, an A.D.H.D. afflicted trout, an orangutan detective, and a 310-year-old blue crane High Priestess. All of these creatures are more “human” in surprising ways than the citizens of the blue planet, Earth, we discover was once a Rendazian Colony. Beautimus Potamus’ tongue-in-cheek story is a magical fable-stew made with the ingredients of satire, drama, social commentary, and comedy, with jests, puns and wordplay sprinkled throughout. For good measure, a generous pinch of romantic flavoring is thrown into the pot. Readers' reviews: "Truly a splendid and extraordinary story. It was refreshing to find something so original. Well written, vivid descriptions, great humor and delightful characters." "So often we limit our reading to books by Dan Brown, John Grisham, Nicholas Sparks or Michael Connelly and we [...] miss the gems by new writers that put their heart, soul and dreams on paper to let our imaginations go where theirs have. This is one of those gems." If you liked this book, you should check out Peggy's dystopian tale, Chaco as well! About the author Peggy A. Wheeler is a writer of fantastical fiction. Her debut novel, THE RAVEN'S DAUGHTER is published by Dragon Moon Press in Canada. Peggy studied English and Creative Writing at the U.C.L.A., where she was the only undergraduate chosen to study with Robert Pinsky, former Poet Laureate of the United States. Peggy has led adult poetry and fiction writing critique groups and workshops in both Colorado and California.
