Book excerpt: How long does it take for scars to heal? How long does it take for a scarred memory to fester and rise to the surface? For Marubini, the question is whether scars ever heal when you forget they are there to begin with. Marubini is a young woman who has an enviable life in Cape Town, working at a wine farm and spending idyllic days with her friends ... until her past starts spilling into her present. Something dark has been lurking in the shadows of Marubini's life from as far back as she can remember. It's only a matter of time before it reaches out and grabs at her. The Yearning is a memorable exploration of the ripple effects of the past, of personal strength and courage, and of the shadowy intersections of traditional and modern worlds.

This book by a well-known Celtic-American shaman explores those interactions and interconnected pathways, looking at the interdependence of our material life with our inner life and that of nature. Each chapter is a small window into the mysteries of nature and soul as they infuse daily life. Download or read book Yearning written by bell hooks and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-10-10 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For bell hooks, the best cultural criticism sees no need to separate politics from the pleasure of reading. Yearning collects together some of hooks's classic and early pieces of cultural criticism from the '80s. Addressing topics like pedagogy, postmodernism, and politics, hooks examines a variety of cultural artifacts, from Spike Lee's film Do the Right Thing and Wim Wenders's film Wings of Desire to the writings of Zora Neale Hurston and Toni Morrison. The result is a poignant collection of essays which, like all of hooks's work, is above all else concerned with transforming oppressive structures of domination.

Book excerpt: It is anthology of romantic poems addressed to readers who love poems with erotic scents. Love is the central theme in all my poems and reading the poems feels like hearing some symphonic play or listening to pop and rock hits on radio. I was born in mountainous Rajcza, south Poland where I spent my childhood and teenage years, and where I also studied and participated in the so called Solidarity movement against the communist regime. I emigrated out of Poland yet when Poland was still in the Soviet thaw and I became a citizen of New Zealand within five years. I lived in marvelous Wellington, the capital of NZ, called often ' Windy Wellington ', due to the very many winds blowing through the city both from the Pacific and nearby mountains. While in New Zealand I lived there also in Auckland and Coromandel Peninsula for a while. Afterwards I traveled worldwide, I had been amongst others in China and finally settled down in Antwerp, Belgium. The United States was always the country of my final destination and my departure from Poland, just eight days before martial law was in fact me emigrating to America which I have never so far had luck to get to. In the meantime I am feeling myself quite comfortable in the European Union, a great project of all Europeans which came true. America and especially New York City with its Statue of Liberty, remain my dream. Freedoms cherished by America are the unstoppable trend and I myself am fully behind it, wishing the same to all individuals across the world, freedoms, human rights, love ...

This book was released on 2021-08-31 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Importance Of The Church: God’s Kingdom Among Men! There is no need more urgent on our planet than that apostolic Christianity should be restored. Considering the desperate conditions that exist on this planet, that is a bold statement indeed! Can the establishment of a “religious organization” really be more important than the resolution of the world’s desperate problems? Properly understood, the answer is a resounding “yes!” You see, if the churches were to enter into the Biblical teaching and obedience described in the fol-lowing chapters, she would provide a form of human society within which none of those wretched conditions mentioned above would ever need exist again! Hear this, Christian: Christ in His church is God’s solution to all human needs and problems, not just its supposedly “religious” ones! The thesis of this book is that within the society of the Church of Christ (and only within that divine society) there is such a solution: a solution that actually used to exist, and a solution that God intends to restore! When the Kingdom of God is manifested on the earth, a visible society is created. As created by God, the church is that society of regenerated humans who have accepted Jesus as the divinely appointed ruler of the entire race of man. Her charter includes a demonstration of how the entire race of humans could function if they yielded to the authority and the Spirit of Jesus. His church is the sphere where God’s plans for the “total man” and for every aspect of human society are accomplished. Indeed, His church is the true form of human society! - such is her call; such is what is necessarily implied in being “Christ’s body”, “a chosen race, ... a holy nation, ... the people of God.”
Download or read book The Boat Rocker written by Michael Mann and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2004-12 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Boat Rocker is a poetry of life that both presents a philosophy of life and describes an art of living that has been learned the hard way--by actually living a life; by having tasted all the joys life offers and having suffered many of the tragedies and pains life inevitably brings as well. While The Boat Rocker will not help a person to avoid all tragedy and pain--those are a part of every life--it will help everyone who takes it's message to heart to avoid some needless suffering and to get through whatever vale of tears is encountered through a simple act of faith, for fidelity is everything in life--fidelity to self, fidelity to our loved ones, fidelity to our purpose in life, and fidelity to God. These are essential for a well-lived, rewarding life. But love is the heart and soul of faith, and faith is but love made real.
