In this book, the author gives insights about the second world war - why we are fighting, what will happen when it is over, what practical aims we can set ourselves, and how we can still look forward to organising a world in which wars will not perpetually recur until the human race has bombed itself out of existence. The author of this book, posits that it is still possible, but only if we throw over many of our old prejudices, and make clear at once the principles on which we intend to act.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with the history and future of the concept of ‘world peace through law’ (WPTL), which advocates replacing the use of international force with the global rule of law. WPTL calls for replacing war with the global rule of law by arms reductions, including the abolition of nuclear weapons, global alternative dispute resolution mechanisms, and various enforcement mechanisms. This book sets forth a three-part proposal: 1) arms reductions – primarily the abolition of nuclear weapons, with necessarily concomitant reductions in conventional forces; 2) a four-stage system of global alternative dispute resolution (ADR), utilizing both law and equity; 3) adequate enforcement mechanisms, including a UN Peace Force. The core of this proposal is alternative dispute resolution mechanisms—international ADR. International ADR would consist of a four-stage process of compulsory negotiation, compulsory mediation, compulsory arbitration., and compulsory adjudication by the World Court. The fundamental proposition of this book is that the use of alternatives to war, global ADR, is the ultimate solution to the problem of peace. The full implementation of WPTL will entail a vast array of progressive initiatives on many fronts, including abolition of nuclear weapons, with the global rule of law being the capstone to all of these developments. This book will be of great interest to students of peace studies, arms control, international law, and world politics.

Book excerpt: This book is a detailed analysis of war within which Wells explores why the Second World War was being fought, what would happen when it ended, what aims should be set, and the possibility of a future where humanity doesn't destroy itself through war. A fascinating and thought-provoking treatise, "The Common Sense of War and Peace" will appeal to those with an interest in WWII and is not to be missed by fans and collectors of H. G. Wells work. Contents include: "Grown Men Do Not Need Leaders", "Can Any Peace Be Made Now?", "What Are We Fighting For?", "Only World Revolution Can End War", "The Blue Swastika and the Religion of the Rentier", "The Triple Choice", "What Federation Means And May Mean", "War in the Air and After", "The Puerility of Current Federal Union Schemes", "The Provisional Declaration of Rights", et cetera. Herbert George Wells (1866 - 1946) was a prolific English writer who wrote in a variety of genres, including the novel, politics, history, and social commentary. Today, he is perhaps best remembered for his contributions to the science fiction genre thanks to such novels as "The Time Machine" (1895), "The Invisible Man" (1897), and "The War of the Worlds" (1898). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this book now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with a specially commissioned new biography of the author. First published in 1940.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For as long as there has been war, there have been demands for its elimination. The quest for world peace has excited and eluded political leaders, philosophers, religious elders, activists, and artists for millennia. With war on the rise once again, we rarely reflect on what world peace might look like; much less on how it might be achieved. World Peace aims to change all that and show that world peace is possible. Because the motives, rationales, and impulses that give rise to war - the quest for survival, enrichment, solidarity, and glory - are now better satisfied through peaceful means, war is an increasingly anachronistic practice, more likely to impoverish and harm us humans than satisfy and protect us. This book shows that we already have many of the institutions and practices needed to make peace possible and sets out an agenda for building world peace. In the immediate term, it shows how steps to strengthen compliance with international law, improve collective action such as international peacekeeping and peacebuilding, better regulate the flow of arms, and hold individuals legally accountable for acts of aggression or atrocity crimes can make our world more peaceful. It also shows how in the long term, building strong and legitimate states that protect the rights and secure the livelihoods of their people, gender equal societies, and protecting the right of individuals to opt-out of wars has the potential to establish and sustain world peace. But it will only happen, if individuals organize to make it happen.

Achieving World Peace is a subject that has never been openly discussed by the people of this world before. The content of this book is original because a real, workable, plan for achieving World Peace has never been offered to the people of this world because it can change the way we live in this world. Violence and wars have been a part of our lives since the beginning of the human race, and now this book is offering, for the first time, a chance to live in a world that is dominated by peace. This book takes a serious look at civilizing this world for the first time, and offers a simple way to go about civilizing this world. This book takes the dreams of achieving World Peace and makes achieving World Peace a reality. This book solves the mystery of how to achieve World Peace. This book shows us how to end all wars and military conflicts, and put an end to all the terrorism in this world. The plan for achieving World Peace laid out in this book is a stroke of political brilliance, because no one in this world could possibly stand against any efforts by the people of this world to acheive true World Peace. When the people in this world are armed with a perfect political issue like achieving World Peace, that no world leader or government could possibly be against, they can easily achieve World Peace. Any political issue like achieving World Peace that has one hundred percent suppport can not fail. The content of this book is very powerful and will change the way we live on this earth. Injecting a World Peace movement into world politics will force our governments to address the World Peace issue, and when they do, they will have no choice but to accept the plan for achieving World Peace. No government or world leader could ever stand in front of their people and try to explain why World Peace is bad for the people of their country. This book offers an opportunity to all peace loving people in to world to be part of a movement that will lead to a true World Peace.

Book excerpt: "WORLD PEACE, THE CRY AND CRIER" is a critical examination of the factors responsible for the spoken world peace. It offers a road-map to realistic peaceful coexistence for which the United Nations was formed in 1945. The author, Nsikan Inokon, recalls the untold number of wars prior to, and after, the rise of nation-states, colonialism, and mercantilism. He asks, "How Many More Wars?" before the much-sought-for world peace is attained. He has proffered the sure road to realistic world peace. This book is a challenge to the world to embrace peace. It is a must-read by all advocates and lovers of peace, who consider world peace as a mission the world began since its creation without reaching its destination yet.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intellectual quest for World Order is as old as the history of mankind. Saints and sages, religious visionaries and philosophers from all great civilizations have left their valuable contributions on the peaceful sands of time. However much of this wealth has been obliterated by other events of history wherein power, might and grandeur were used as the instruments of exploitation by a section of human beings . Time has come to research on the past, and on its basis to analyze the present and visualize a future for a just world order. In World Constitutionalism, over two dozen scholars, academicians, administrators, and leaders of civil society have come together to pen their innovative ideas. It is an attempt to carry their vision over national barriers through the realms of Human Rights, Environmental Law, Feminist Justice, Global Democracy and so on . In the fast evolving twenty first century , World Constitutionalism is already exploding on the global scene in all fields of life , as human race finds enlightenment through information and networking revolution, technology development, and conscious spiritual awakening taking place from East to West. World Constitutionalism endeavours to foster scientific study of world governance as a multi disciplinary subject with an added flavour of law to give it special sanctity in the minds of the Peoples of the World. The book is an addition to the growing movement for World Unity that presently reechoes round the globe.
