Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sir Lewis Carl Davidson Hamilton MBE HonFREng, born in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, England, UK on 7th January 1985, is a professional racing driver, who competes in Formula 1 for Mercedes, having previously driven for McLaren from 2007 - 2012. Lewis has won a record 7 F1 World Drivers' Championship titles, tied with Michael Schumacher, along with the record most wins (99), pole positions (101) & podium finishes (175). Brought up in Stevenage, Hamilton joined the McLaren young driver programme during 1998, which led to a Formula 1 drive with McLaren in 2007, remaining the only black driver to race in the series. Lewis set many records that season as he finished runner-up to Kimi Räikkönen by a point. The following season, he won his 1st title after overtaking on the last lap of the final race of the season to become the youngest ever F1 World Champion. After 4 more years with McLaren, Hamilton signed with Mercedes during 2013. Changes to the regulations the following year, mandating the use of turbo-hybrid engines, led to the start of an extremely successful period for Lewis, during which he won 6 more drivers' titles. Consecutive wins came in 2014 then 2015, during an intense rivalry with his team-mate Nico Rosberg. After Rosberg's retirement, Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel became Hamilton's closest rival in a couple of intense championship battles, during which Lewis twice overturned mid-season point deficits to lift successive titles again in 2017 - 2018. His 3rd and 4th consecutive titles followed during 2019 & 2020, equalling Schumacher's record.

Book excerpt: Innovative and the first of its kind, this informative and multidisciplinary book explores the socio-cultural significance inherent in event infrastructures. While mainstream event management literature addresses event infrastructures mainly through its operational relevance, this carefully compiled edited volume takes infrastructures as an analytical point in respect to its social, political, economic and cultural potential of the study of events. Borrowing from the ongoing social scientific debates on the geography, sociology and anthropology of infrastructures, critical questions are posed in relation to the event contexts. With references to events in Argentina, Malawi, Spain and the UK, among others, the volume combines an international perspective with a highly relevant subject for contemporary event management education. By bringing together theoretical as well as empirical readings on the question of event infrastructures from a critical point of view, the debates are relevant to practitioners and researchers as well as undergraduate and postgraduate students in the field of events, leisure, tourism, anthropology, sociology, geography and urban planning – among others.

But with the 2019 season came a force louder than Formula One could dream of muffling: William Storey, the founder of British energy drink startup Rich Energy. Storey became a multimillion-dollar sponsor of the Haas Formula One team a year after records showed Rich Energy having a mere $770 in the bank. He equated his doubters to moon-landing truthers and publicly mocked both the Haas team and the entities winning legal disputes against him. But where were actual cans of Rich Energy, and did the supposed sponsorship funds exist? In the six months between Storey's first race as a Formula One sponsor and his very public exit, he stole the spotlight with a loud mouth and an active Twitter account. Haas team boss Guenther Steiner once described the Rich Energy news cycle as: "I'm getting sick of answering these stupid fucking questions on a race weekend. I've never seen any fucking thing like this." No one else had, either. This book uncovers the complete, bizarre story.
