Die Verpflichtungen enden für die meisten egal welcher familiären Situation nicht mit dem Ende des Arbeitstages sondern ziehen sich weiter durch die private Lebenswelt, der „Freizeit“. Ist dieses überhöhte Anforderungsprofil und dieser Leistungsdruck von langanhaltender Dauer, können daraus negative gesundheitliche Folgen entstehen. Diese Auswirkungen und deren Entwicklungstrend beeinflussen dann weiterführend auch die Unternehmen und die Gesellschaft. Bereits heute wirkt sich der demographische Wandel auf den Arbeitsmarkt aus, was in den nächsten Jahren noch bedeutender werden wird. Der steigende Wettbewerbsdruck auf den Märkten wirkt sich folglich auf die Beschaffung und Bindung von Fachkräften aus. (Esslinger & Schober 2007, S.3) Unternehmen müssen sich daher um die langfristige Bindung von qualifizierten Mitarbeitern bemühen. Durch den allgemeinen Wertewandel in der Gesellschaft – weg vom Leben, um zu arbeiten; hin zum Arbeiten, um zu leben – bildet die WLB einen guten Ansatz für die Unternehmen, sich der Herausforderung der Mitarbeiterbindung zu stellen. Das vorliegende Assignment verfolgt das Ziel, das Thema WLB grundsätzlich zu erläutern (Begriffsdefinitionen und unterschiedliche Betrachtungsweisen Kapitel 2 und 3), des Weiteren die Anforderungen und deren Auswirkungen auf den Einzelnen im Berufs- und Privatleben zu betrachten ( Work-Family-Conflict, gesundheitliche Auswirkungen, Kapitel 4 und 5). Darüber hinaus soll das Assignment über das Thema WLB in Unternehmen informieren und deren Maßnahmen und Zielsetzungen aufzeigen (Kapitel 6). Abschließend werden kurz die Perspektiven des WLB-Einsatz und der WLB-Maßnahmen erläutert und die Ausführungen zusammengefasst (Kapitel 7).

In this book, distinguished political scientist Henry Nau delves deeply into a fourth, overlooked foreign policy tradition that he calls "conservative internationalism." This approach spreads freedom, like liberal internationalism; arms diplomacy, like realism; and preserves national sovereignty, like nationalism. Nau explores conservative internationalism in the foreign policies of Thomas Jefferson, James Polk, Harry Truman, and Ronald Reagan.
