Book Synopsis With Light and with Might by : Shalom Dov Baer Schneersohn
Download or read book With Light and with Might written by Shalom Dov Baer Schneersohn and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this volume, two classic chassidic works of the Rebbe Rashab, Rabbi Sholom DovBer Schneersohn of Lubavitch, complement each other. The discourse entitled Tanu Rabbanan: Ner Chanukah (1982) celebrates the might of spiritual light which like the rays of the Chanukah lamp reaches out to illuminate a dark world; the discourse entitled Kol HaYotzei LeMilchemes Beis David (1900) celebrates the light that is generated when an individual musters the self-sacrificing might to "go out to the battles of the House of David," and to prepare himself and his environment for the coming of Mashiach. This historical and conceptual background to the latter discourse is richly depicted in this volume in an appendix written by the author's son and successor, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch, who was present when it was first delivered. The lucid translation is supplemented by source references, explanatory footnotes and a comprehensive glossary.
Download or read book What Light Can Do written by Robert Hass and published by Harper Collins. This book was released on 2012-08-14 with total page 425 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Universally lauded poet Robert Hass offers a stunning, wide-ranging collection of essays on art, imagination, and the natural world—with accompanying photos throughout. What Light Can Do is a magnificent companion piece to the former U.S. Poet Laureate’s Pulitzer Prize and National Book Award-winning poetry collection, Time and Materials, as well as his earlier book of essays, the NBCC Award-winner Twentieth Century Pleasures. Haas brilliantly discourses on many of his favorite topics—on writers ranging from Jack London to Wallace Stevens to Allen Ginsberg to Cormac McCarthy; on California; and on the art of photography in several memorable pieces—in What Light Can Do, a remarkable literary treasure that might best be described as “luminous.”
Book Synopsis Shades of Light, Might, Right and Insight! by : Jeff Forman
Download or read book Shades of Light, Might, Right and Insight! written by Jeff Forman and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2019-11-20 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A poet since childhood encouraged by my dear mother, most poems here span the last decade as my output’s become more ambitious with increasingly prolific and complex rhyming naturally occurring. Several poems were inspired by observations in nature. Others emanate from many glass receptacles illuminated with votive candles that I’ve artistically themed with names, displayed on plant stands, sometimes becoming allegories on or personifications of life. Another influence comes from films, adeptly highlighting prominent themes and poignant roles portrayed in ways that have eloquently personified a wide range of human behavior and interaction enacted displaying real life tragedies and triumphs. As spiritual beings living human lives, we’re all challenged with the choices we make via the free will God’s granted us and ultimately how those actions align us with either good or evil. And that’s the central wellspring of most of my poetry. As an astute societal observer, I’m staunchly a humanitarian individual desiring peace who seeks truth and wants to enrich, inspire and enlighten all who embrace my work which is humbly themed from the heart to serve, uplift and heal greater humanity and our planet which is currently in crisis with much suffering and injustice worldwide.
