Book Synopsis The Institutional Topology of International Regime Complexes by : Benjamin Daßler
Download or read book The Institutional Topology of International Regime Complexes written by Benjamin Daßler and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2023-10-05 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The implicit topology of international institutional complexes varies greatly across policy areas. In some areas, the lion's share of everyday policy cooperation is shaped by a single institution with alternative and more regional institutions operating in its shadow. In other policy fields, institutional structures appear to be different, seeing a range of non-hierarchical, decentralized, alternative institutions. The Institutional Topology of International Regime Complexes: Mapping Inter-Institutional Structures in Global Governance provides a systematic conceptualization and explanation of the evolution of these varying institutional topologies underlying regime complexes across five issue areas of Global Governance: Intellectual Property Protection, Tax Avoidance, Financial Stability, Development Aid, and Energy Governance. By providing an empirically grounded, network-based conceptualization and mapping of institutional topologies, as well as a theoretical explanation for their variation across policy space and time, the book offers a comprehensive analysis of both the empirical manifestation of inter-institutional structures across various policy fields of Global Governance and the issue specific factors that shape the varying institutional trajectories spurring (de-) centralization. Daßler combines quantitative network analyses with qualitative case studies to trace institutional decentralization processes across five highly relevant issue areas of Global Governance. This volume shows how the nature of issue-specific cooperation problems translates into disparate structures among multilateral institutions occupying the same regime complex. In light of growing concerns about the future trajectories of Global Governance in times of heightened geopolitical tensions, Daßler offers a fresh perspective to comparatively capture the profoundly varying institutional landscapes across different issue areas and their associated challenges and benefits of multilateral cooperation. Transformations in Governance is a major academic book series from Oxford University Press. It is designed to accommodate the impressive growth of research in comparative politics, international relations, public policy, federalism, and environmental and urban studies concerned with the dispersion of authority from central states to supranational institutions, subnational governments, and public-private networks. It brings together work that advances our understanding of the organization, causes, and consequences of multilevel and complex governance. The series is selective, containing annually a small number of books of exceptionally high quality by leading and emerging scholars. The series is edited by Liesbet Hooghe and Gary Marks of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and Walter Mattli of the University of Oxford.

Download or read book Open Access to Knowledge in Nigeria written by Kunle Ola and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-10-17 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an analysis of the legal and policy dimensions of open access to research, education and public sector information with a focus on Nigeria. Kunle shows how open access has evolved across the world and how such initiatives could be implemented in Nigeria and other countries in the developing world. The author argues for a platform where Nigerians are able to freely connect to the ‘global library’, through the open access dual platforms of self-archiving and open access publishing, thereby providing access to knowledge. The importance of connecting local works to the ‘global library’ to increase visibility and impact of such works is also underscored. This book furthers our understanding of open educational resources as alternative avenues to accessing education and seeks to foster citizenry participation, good governance, accountability, democratic values and spur creativity and innovation through open governance and access to public sector information. Providing a framework for open access in developing countries, Open Access to Knowledge in Nigeria is an important read for scholars interested in knowledge production in Africa, development of the knowledge economy and the open access and Access to Knowledge movements.

Download or read book Work-Life Balance written by C B Rao and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2019-02-01 with total page 1020 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Every organization is like a delicate ecosystem. It needs to be nurtured with care and concern just as a natural ecosystem is ecologically nurtured. For this, organizational behavior is the instrument. Organizational behavior is the study of human behavior in organizational settings including the interface of human beings among themselves, the interface of human beings with their and other external organizations, and the behavior of organizations with respect to individuals and other organizations. Individual behavior is an integral part of organizational behavior. As individuals and organizations devote the needed attention to the subject, the challenging issue of work–life balance is resolved. This major work on organizational behavior, with its ninety chapters, is divided into fifteen sections, each of which deals with a specific theme relating to factors impacting and is impacted by organizational behavior. This book provides multiple constructs that facilitate optimal work–life balance. This book will serve as a companion text for students and faculty specializing in organizational behavior and general management. Academicians, industry managers, and leaders as well as administrators and policy makers will find this book a useful thought-primer and guide for effective organizational management. More importantly, the several propositions made in the book would help individuals and institutions achieve competitive strength, emotional stability, and self-actualization through optimal work–life balance.
Book Synopsis The Present and Future of Music Law by : Ann Harrison
Download or read book The Present and Future of Music Law written by Ann Harrison and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2021-07-29 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The music business is a multifaceted, transnational industry that operates within complex and rapidly changing political, economic, cultural and technological contexts. The mode and manner of how music is created, obtained, consumed and exploited is evolving rapidly. It is based on relationships that can be both complimentary and at times confrontational, and around roles that interact, overlap and sometimes merge, reflecting the competing and coinciding interests of creative artists and music industry professionals. It falls to music law and legal practice to provide the underpinning framework to enable these complex relationships to flourish, to provide a means to resolve disputes, and to facilitate commerce in a challenging and dynamic business environment. The Present and Future of Music Law presents thirteen case studies written by experts in their fields, examining a range of key topics at the points where music law and the post-digital music industry intersect, offering a timely exploration of the current landscape and insights into the future shape of the interface between music business and music law.

Book Synopsis Locating India in the Contemporary International Legal Order by : Srinivas Burra
Download or read book Locating India in the Contemporary International Legal Order written by Srinivas Burra and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 337 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book brings together disparate views which attempt to locate India in the contemporary international legal order. The essays endeavour to explore critically India’s role and attitude towards international law in various fields and its influence and contribution in the development of the latter. The contributions are also of historical value, as they analyse the present as part of a historical trajectory. Drawing upon the current and historical practices from their respective fields, the authors attempt to highlight some critical aspects involving India and international law. These aspects broadly underline India’s drift from its traditional role as an ally and proponent of the third world towards the pragmatism of self-interest, behaviour that is often compelled by internal political and economic conditions, as well as the dictates of external forces.
