Nach der Definition des Begriffes "soziale Ungleichheit" wird dessen historischer Kontext gezeigt. Es werden auch unterschiedliche Theorien, die dieses Thema analysieren, vorgestellt. In seinem Essay „Du kommst hier nicht rein“ bezieht sich Lars Weisbrod auf die These von Thomas Piketty, dass die ökonomische Ungleichheit nicht nur größer werde, sondern sich sogar immer mehr verfestige. Deutschland nähere sich in Bezug auf die Aufstiegsmöglichkeiten wieder den Gesellschaftsstrukturen des 19. Jahrhunderts an und man könne eigentlich wieder von Aristokratie sprechen, nur mit Panama-Briefkastenfirmen statt Ländereien. In Bezug auf die Einkommensverteilung von 1991 bis 2010 bestätigt sich, dass sich die Einkommensverhältnisse in diesem Zeitraum gefestigt und lediglich nach dem oberen 10. Zehntel umverteilt haben. Während das obere 10. Zehntel einen Einkommenszuwachs verbuchen konnte, ist das Einkommen bei allen anderen Dezilen im gleichen Zeitraum gesunken. Im Jahr 2010 hatte das Zehntel der Bevölkerung mit den geringsten Einkommen nur einen Anteil von 3,7% am gesamten bedarfsgewichteten Nettoeinkommen. Im Vergleich lag der Wert für die 10% mit den höchsten Einkommen bei 23,1%.

Dazu beschäftigt sich diese Arbeit genauer mit dem Begriff der sozialen Ungleichheit. Im zweiten Kapitel werden die Grundlagen für diese Arbeit aufgebaut. Zuerst einmal wird der Begriff „Soziale Ungleichheit“ definiert. Anschließend werden die Dimensionen sozialer Ungleichheit vorgestellt. Im dritten Kapitel wird, mit Hilfe empirischer Daten, die Entwicklung der sozialen Ungleichheit in Deutschland in den letzten Jahrzehnten analysiert.

Soziale Ungleichheit – was ist das? Gibt es diese tatsächlich innerhalb von Deutschland, einem Sozialstaat, der doch schon per Gesetz die Gleichheit fordert? Laut Grundgesetz Artikel 3 fordert und bestimmt der Staat die Gleichheit aller Menschen vor dem Gesetz. Diese soll für alle Menschen gelten, gleich welcher Unterscheidung wie zum Beispiel Mann und Frau, Rasse, Abstammung, Heimat, Herkunft, Glauben oder Behinderung. Ebenso setzt sich die Organisation der Vereinten Nationen für gleiche Rechte aller Menschen in den Mitgliedsstaaten ein. So wurde am 10. Dezember 1948 als Grundsatz verkündet: "Alle Menschen sind frei und gleich an Würde und Rechten geboren". 1957 erscheint das von Ludwig Erhard verfassten Buche mit dem Titel "Wohlstand für alle". Der damalige Bundeswirtschaftsminister und 1963 auch Bundeskanzler Deutschlands glaubt an Ziele und deren Wege, die allen Bürgern innerhalb Deutschlands zu Wohlstand verhelfen kann. Wirtschaftswachstum im allgemeinen solle für gerechte Verteilung sorgen.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Social Mobility in Europe is the most comprehensive study to date of trends in intergenerational social mobility. It uses data from 11 European countries covering the last 30 years of the twentieth century to analyze differences between countries and changes through time.The findings call into question several long-standing views about social mobility. We find a growing similarity between countries in their class structures and rates of absolute mobility: in other words, the countries of Europe are now more alike in their flows between class origins and destinations than they were thirty years ago. However, differences between countries in social fluidity (that is, the relative chances, between people of different class origins, of being found in given classdestinations) show no reduction and so there is no evidence supporting theories of modernization which predict such convergence. Our results also contradict the long-standing Featherman Jones Hauser hypothesis of a basic similarity in social fluidity in all industrial societies 'with a market economyand a nuclear family system'. There are considerable differences between countries like Israel and Sweden, where societal openness is very marked, and Italy, France, and Germany, where social fluidity rates are low. Similarly, there is a substantial difference between, for example, the Netherlands in the 1970s (which was quite closed) and in the 1990s, when it ranks among the most open societies.Mobility tables reflect many underlying processes and this makes it difficult to explain mobility and fluidity or to provide policy prescriptions. Nevertheless, those countries in which fluidity increased over the last decades of the twentieth century had not only succeeded in reducing class inequalities in educational attainment but had also restricted the degree to which, among people with the same level of education, class background affected their chances of gaining access to better classdestinations.
