Download or read book Microwave Acoustics Handbook written by A. J. Slobodnik (Jr.) and published by . This book was released on 1973 with total page 732 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Information essential for the design of acoustic surface wave filters, signal processors, and other miniature, low cost, reliable devices for use in communications and electronic sensing is given in this report. Computations of surface wave velocity and electromechanical power flow angle, and estimates of surface wave coupling to interdigital transducers are given for various orientations of the following surface wave substrate materials: Ba2NaNb5O15, Bi12GeO20, CdS, Diamond, Eu3Fe5O15, Gadolinium Gallium Garnet, GaAs, Germanium, InSb, InAs, PbS, LiNbO3, MgO, Quartz, Rutile, Sapphire, Silicon, Spinel, TeO2, YAG, YGaG, YIG, and ZnO. Particular cuts of interest are then chosen for more detailed numerical calculations of mechanical and electrical parameters governing acoustic wave propagation in crystalline media. Similar data is given for common metals. A list of material constants and a bibliography of 520 surface wave papers are also included. (Author).

It provides numerous references and worked examples on SAW devices to highlight various design aspects, and contains illustrations from many leading electronic companies around the world. The first half of the book covers the principles of SAW devices. The secondhalf focuses on applications to the mobile/wireless field, including SAW devices for antenna duplexers, RF and IF filters for cellular cordless phones, front-end filters for wireless transceivers, fixed and tunable oscillators, filters for on-board satellite communications, as well as coding and convolvers for indoor/outdoor spread-spectrum communications. Surface Acoustic Wave Devices for Mobile and Wireless Communications serves as an excellent sourcebook for engineers and designers with some SAW background, or for technical staff with no prior knowledge of SAW devices who need to know how this technology can help their products. It can be used as a textbook for senior and graduate students engaged in the study of signal processing techniques and systems for mobile communications. Key Features * First SAW text applied to mobile and wireless communications * Written by an award-winning researcher with over 20 years of SAW device experience * Presents the theory and design of major SAW devices for mobile/wireless communications as applied to some of the major telecommunication standards * Accessible to both engineering and scientific readers with or without prior SAW device knowledge

Book Synopsis Microwave Network Approach to Guided Acoustic Surface Wave Structures by : A. A. Oliner
Download or read book Microwave Network Approach to Guided Acoustic Surface Wave Structures written by A. A. Oliner and published by . This book was released on 1971 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In addition to the formulation of a rigorous network approach to acoustic wave problems in solid and fluid media, equivalent networks have been derived for a large number of interfaces between different media. These networks are reported in a fashion which resembles a catalog of acoustic wave phenomena expressed in microwave network terms. These microwave network approaches were then applied to a variety of important current problems in microwave acoustics. One such problem is that of the step junction between plated and unplated regions of a substrate. An equivalent network has been derived for this step junction using a general theoretical approach for the approximate analysis of the network elements describing transverse discontinuities and junctions. The reflection and transmission properties of the step junction revealed some interesting features which served as the basis for several proposed novel devices, such as a narrowband in-line filter, a frequency selector, and a thickness monitor. Three structures were analyzed by means of the microwave network approach, and numerical results were obtained for the propagation characteristics. The results for the thin-ribbon and gap waveguides were compared with other available theoretical data and with available experimental information, and directional couplers for both of these guide types were analyzed. Book Synopsis Advances in Surface Acoustic Wave Technology, Systems and Applications by : Clemens C. W. Ruppel
Download or read book Advances in Surface Acoustic Wave Technology, Systems and Applications written by Clemens C. W. Ruppel and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices are recognized for their versatility and efficiency in controlling and processing electrical signals. This has resulted in a multitude of device concepts for a wide range of signal processing functions, such as delay lines, filters, resonators, pulse compressors, convolvers, and many more. As SAW technology has found its way into mass market products such as TV receivers, pagers, keyless entry systems and cellular phones, the production volume has risen to millions of devices produced every day. At the other end of the scale, there are specialized high performance signal processing SAW devices for satellite communication and military applications, such as radar and electronic warfare. This volume, together with Volume 2, presents an overview of recent advances in SAW technology, systems and applications by some of the foremost researchers in this exciting field.
