Book Synopsis WHO Recommendation on Umbilical Vein Injection of Oxytocin for the Treatment of Retained Placenta by :
Download or read book WHO Recommendation on Umbilical Vein Injection of Oxytocin for the Treatment of Retained Placenta written by and published by . This book was released on 2020 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Efforts to prevent and reduce morbidity and mortality due to PPH (Postpartum haemorrhage) can help to address the profound inequities in maternal and perinatal health globally. To achieve this, skilled health personnel, health managers, policy-makers and other stakeholders need up-to-date and evidence-informed recommendations to guide clinical policies and practices. In 2019, the Executive Guideline Steering Group (GSG) for the World Health Organization (WHO) maternal and perinatal health recommendations prioritized updating of the existing WHO recommendation: Umbilical vein injection of oxytocin for the treatment of retained placenta, in response to the availability of new evidence. The recommendation in this document thus supersedes the previous WHO recommendations on "intraumbilical vein injection of oxytocin for treatment of retained placenta" as published in the 2012 guideline, WHO recommendations for the prevention and treatment of postpartum haemorrhage.

Book Synopsis Medicolegal Issues in Obstetrics and Gynaecology by : Swati Jha
Download or read book Medicolegal Issues in Obstetrics and Gynaecology written by Swati Jha and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-06-26 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights minimum standards relating to the management of different conditions in the practice of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. The editors explore clinical governance issues, common causes of as well as ways to avoid litigation. The UK is experiencing a dramatic increase in medico-legal claims. The 4 main reasons for litigation are: accountability, the need for an explanation, concern with standards of care and compensation. However the decision to take legal action is determined not only by the original injury, but failure to provide information, an explanation and an apology. Insensitive handling of an injury and poor communication after the original incident increases the risk of litigation and erodes the patient-doctor relationship. Doctors almost never deliberately cause harm to patients, however increasingly claims are being defended successfully. This book is invaluable to clinicians and lawyers alike and raises awareness of how to avoid facing clinical negligence claims in our day to day practice.
