Having a neglectful father, being a social pariah, and struggling with depression, he lives day by day. But Jack has a secret, a level of hatred that is unimaginably demented. When someone or rather something, finds out his secret, he is given the tools to make his darkest dreams reality. But there is a catch to his gifts. As Ocean City, Maryland, becomes the host to a series of disappearances and bizarre murders, it is up to Detective Hudson to catch the psychopath. So the question is now raised. Will the detective catch the elusive killer, or will Jack completely lose his humanity to what's hiding inside him?

Book Synopsis Detection and Identification of Organic Compounds by : Miroslov Vecera
Download or read book Detection and Identification of Organic Compounds written by Miroslov Vecera and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The American edition of our monograph is not a mere translation of the Czech edition, which appeared some five years ago. We have had to respect the fact that even such a short period has sufficed for progress in this field, and that the field of application of methods of organic analysis has widened. We have therefore revised a number of chapters in Part 1, the general part of the monograph-mainly those devoted to chromatographic methods, which have been extended and complemented by methods of thin-layer chromatography and electrophoresis. The chapters on the theory of color reactions and on analytical literature have also been extended; the chapter on spectral methods has been extended by including the use of proton magnetic resonance in organic analysis, and the list of references has been enlarged by adding books of importance for organic analysis. In Part 2, the part dealing specifically with various elements and chemical groups, we have extended the chapters on solubility and on acids and bases. The methods for the detection and identification of given classes of compounds have also been supplemented by references to recent papers.

Book excerpt: Giving voice to the silenced inmates of the Willard State Mental Hospital, All My Bones Are Broken reveals the often ignored world that lies within insane asylums. Inspired by the contents of hundreds of suitcases found in the attic of an abandoned mental hospital, Laurel Marks follows the threads of the lost items back to their sources through medical documents, personal letters, historic interviews, and analytical research of The Lives They Left Behind: Suitcases From a State Hospital Attic. With vivid illustrations by Alayna Tinney, All My Bones Are Broken traces the contents of each suitcase and takes us on a journey into the minds of a minority so often silenced. By reimagining the lives of the patients at Willard, an exploration of the razor thin line between lucid health and insanity begins.
