Daher ist es nicht verwunderlich, dass in vielen verschiedenen Lebensbereichen der Frage nach Gerechtigkeit eine tragende Rolle zukommt. Vom sozialen Zusammenleben, zur Rechtssprechung bis hin zur staatlichen bzw. politischen Gerechtigkeit bleibt kein Themenbereich und dadurch kein Mensch unberührt. Selbst die Kleinsten in unserer Gesellschaft beginnen schon im Vorschulalter sich Gerechtigkeitsfragen zu stellen. Welche Eltern oder Erzieher kennen nicht die Aussage: "Das finde ich aber ungerecht!" Doch nicht nur im kleinsten aller Systemen, dem Familiensystem wir der Frage nach gerechtem Handeln nachgegangen. Kein Tag vergeht, an dem in den politischen Debatten die Vorstellung von einer gerechten Gesellschaft nicht die Rede ist. Insbesondere durch die Intensivierung der Internationalen Beziehungen wird versucht eine globale Gerechtigkeit zu etablieren. Die Festschreibung der Menschenrechte der Vereinten Nationen ist ein gutes Beispiel, wie dies teilweise schon umgesetzt wurde. Deshalb ist es sicherlich nicht überraschend, dass sich Wissenschaftler aus verschiedenen Disziplinen mit dem Begriff der Gerechtigkeit schon seit Jahrhunderten auseinandersetzen, jedoch bis zum heutigen Tage keine allgemein gültige Antwort gefunden haben. Da die Frage: "Was ist Gerechtigkeit?" ein großes Spektrum umfasst, das sich nicht auf wenige Seiten fassen lässt, möchte ich in der vorliegenden Studienarbeit Gerechtigkeit aus verschiedenen historischen sowie interdisziplinären Gesichtspunkten in Augenschein nehmen und dabei die wichtigsten Teildisziplinen hervorheben. Wenn der ohnehin schon wohlhabende Nachbar mit einer Limousine angefahren kommt und sich freudestrahlend damit rühmt, er hätte dieses tolle Auto bei einem Gewinnspiel gewonnen - in all diesen Situationen wird man sich fragen, ob es eine Gerechtigkeit auf Erden überhaupt gibt.Mit dem Thema Gerechtigkeit haben sich bereits viele Menschen auseinandergesetzt. Aus dieser Vielzahl habe ich mich für zwei berühmte Vertreter entschieden, ihre entsprechenden Theorien werde ich hier vorstellen, ebenso einige Kritiker zu Worte kommen lassen. Bereits in der Antike hat sich der griechische Philosoph Platon dem abstrakten Begriff der Gerechtigkeit angenommen. Mit seinem Werk Politeia schuf er eine Ideenlehre. Dabei konstruierte er einen Idealstaat, dessen Regierung aus Philosophen bestehen sollte. Wie er sich diesen Idealstaat im Detail vorstellte, wieso dieser von Philosophen geleitet werden müsse und was für ihn Gerechtigkeit ist, all das betrachte ich im ersten Teil dieser Arbeit eingehender. Book excerpt: The success of individual nation states today is often measured in terms of their ability to benefit from and contribute to a host of global economic, political, socio-cultural, technological, and educational networks. This increased multifaceted international inter-dependence represents an intuitively contradictory and an immensely complex situation. This scenario requires that national governments, whose primary responsibility is towards their citizenry, must relinquish a degree of control over state borders to constantly developing trans and multinational regimes and institutions. Once state borders become permeable all sorts of issues related to rights earned or accrued due to membership of a national community come into question. Given that neither individuals nor states can eschew the influence of the growing interdependence, this new milieu is often described in terms of shrinking of the world into a global village. This reshaping of the world requires us to broaden our horizons and re-evaluate the manner in which we theorize human personhood within communal boundaries. It also demands us to acknowledge that the relative decline of Euro-American economic and political influence and the rise of Asian and Latin American states at the global level have created spaces in which a de-territorialized and a de-historicized notion of citizenship and state can now be explored. The essays in this volume represent diverse disciplinary, analytical, and methodological approaches to understand what the implications are of being a citizen of both a nation state and the world simultaneously. In sum, Deconstructing Global Citizenship explores the questionofwhether a synthesis of contradictory national and global tendencies in the term “global citizenship” is even possible, or if we are better served by fundamentally reconsidering our ideas of “citizenship,” “community,” and “politics.”
