Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In our world today, doing wickedly is the order of the day, and if one dares to point out at any, the person's head may likely leave the neck. In line with this, the Psalmist in Psalm 74:20 says that the dark places of the earth are filled with the habitation of cruelty. The Apostle Paul speaking in the book of II Cor. 2:11 says that we are not ignorant of the devices of the enemy, lest he has an advantage over us. Permit me to say that there are both human and demonic devices or structure that darkness has fixed in place to oppress people's lives. Ignorance of the fact that they exist gives them an edge over your life. Apostle Paul encountered these wicked and unreasonable men at a city called Ephesus. His choice of word in describing their person was too alarming "THE BEAST OF EPHESUS." Thank God for who He is. He stood tall in the life of Paul and unleashed His vengeance against these human beasts both at Ephesus and in other places as the Bible did record in Act 13:9-11. Paul had such boldness and commanding power to confront and resist them without fear. No wonder he said that his preaching of the word amongst them is not without power. You need to have the power of God to be able to confront these men; carnality will not come to play in this battlefield of life. There are wicked human principalities that are more terrible and dangerous than demonic altars. You must have power with God to be able to stand and triumph over them. Amongst these unreasonable and wicked men are witches, occultists, native doctors, mystics, including false prophets. These men have clustered round cities trading on destinies and souls of men, wrecking havocs here and there. Beware and be warned. Be led by the Spirit, not by signs and wonders. Once you become their victim, it takes God's mercy to deliver such a person. Remember the devil does not like to release his prisoners. It is always war to release men from the grip of false prophets. Learn to be patient with God, His promises are sure: has He said a thing to you, be patient; He will accomplish it. For the vision is yet for an appointed time. Even though it tarries, wait for it. In this piece of work is a mystery called the mystery of the night. Join me in this adventure into the discovery of what the vengeance of God and this mystery of the night is all about. Happy Reading! {Adapted from the foreword written by Pastor (Mrs.) Ebere Chiemerie Assistant Pastor, Intercessory Army for Christ(a.k.a WARMEN), Awka, Anambra State, Nigeria.}

Without minimizing the sometimes harsh realities of the biblical record, David Lamb unpacks the complexity of the Old Testament and assembles an overall picture that gives coherence to our understanding of God in both Old and New Testaments.

Book excerpt: A recent string of popular-level books written by the New Atheists have leveled the accusation that the God of the Old Testament is nothing but a bully, a murderer, and a cosmic child abuser. This viewpoint is even making inroads into the church. How are Christians to respond to such accusations? And how are we to reconcile the seemingly disconnected natures of God portrayed in the two testaments? In this timely and readable book, apologist Paul Copan takes on some of the most vexing accusations of our time, including: God is arrogant and jealous God punishes people too harshly God is guilty of ethnic cleansing God oppresses women God endorses slavery Christianity causes violence and more Copan not only answers God's critics, he also shows how to read both the Old and New Testaments faithfully, seeing an unchanging, righteous, and loving God in both.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A common objection to belief in the God of the Bible is that a good, kind, and loving deity would never command the wholesale slaughter of nations. Even Christians have a hard time stomaching such a thought, and many avoid reading those difficult Old Testament passages that make us squeamish. Instead, we quickly jump to the enemy-loving, forgiving Jesus of the New Testament. And yet, the question doesn't go away. Did God really command genocide? Is the command to "utterly destroy" morally unjustifiable? Is it literal? Are the issues more complex and nuanced than we realize? In the tradition of his popular Is God a Moral Monster?, Paul Copan teams up with Matthew Flannagan to tackle some of the most confusing and uncomfortable passages of Scripture. Together they help the Christian and nonbeliever alike understand the biblical, theological, philosophical, and ethical implications of Old Testament warfare passages. Pastors, youth pastors, campus ministers, apologetics readers, and laypeople will find that this book both enlightens and equips them for serious discussion of troubling spiritual questions.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A concise account of the whole biblical narrative and what it means—as well as the beliefs and lifestyle it inspires—for those observing Christianity from the outside, especially those who think there are good reasons not to believe. A Doubter's Guide to the Bible charts a biblical roadmap from the story of creation to the fulfillment of creation, answering many of the most frequently asked questions along the way: How can we read the creation account in Genesis in light of modern science? How should Old Testament law be understood when it appears inconsistent and irrelevant? Isn't the story of Jesus' birth a little far-fetched? What is the Gospel? Why are there four accounts of the same thing, and what are they really saying? John Dickson provides a readable and inviting Bible primer for anyone interested in informing themselves about the most widely read book in the history of humanity. By presenting the whole of the Bible as an account of God's promise to restore humanity to Himself, and humans to one another and to creation, Dickson allows believers and skeptics alike to gain insight into why the Bible has been a compelling, life-changing, and magnetic force throughout the ages—and why it still matters.
