Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers only a part of the wide and diverse field of the Smarandache Notions, andcontains some of the materials that I gathered as I wandered in the world of Smarandache. Mostof the materials are already published in different journals, but some materials are new andappear for the first time in this book. All the results are provided with proofs._ Chapter 1 gives eleven recursive type Smarandache sequences, namely, the SmarandacheOdd, Even, Prime Product, Square Product (of two types), Higher Power Product (of twotypes), Permutation, Circular, Reverse, Symmetric and Pierced Chain sequences_ Chapter 2 deals with the Smarandache Cyclic Arithmetic Determinant and BisymmetricArithmetic Determinant sequences, and series involving the terms of the Smarandachebisymmetric determinant natural and bisymmetric arithmetic determinant sequences_ Chapter 3 treats the Smarandache function S(n)_ Chapter 4 considers, in rather more detail, the pseudo Smarandache function Z(n)_ And the Smarandache S-related and Z-related triangles are the subject matter of Chapter 5.To make the book self-contained, some well-known results of the classical Number Theory aregiven in Chapter 0. In order to make the book up-to-date, the major results of other researchersare also included in the book.At the end of each chapter, several open problems are given.

Book excerpt: More than seven years ago, my first book on some of the Smarandache notions was published. The book consisted of five chapters, and the topics covered were as follows : (1) some recursive type Smarandache sequences, (2) Smarandache determinant sequences, (3) the Smarandache function, (4) the pseudo Smarandache function, and (5) the Smarandache function related and the pseudo Smarandache function related triangles. Since then, new and diversified results have been published by different researchers. The aim of this book to update some of the contents of my previous book, and add some new results.

Book excerpt: About the works of Florentin Smarandache have been written a lot of books (he himself wrote dozens of books and articles regarding math, physics, literature, philosophy). Being a globally recognized personality in both mathematics (there are countless functions and concepts that bear his name) and literature, it is natural that the volume of writings about his research is huge. What we try to do with this encyclopedia is to gather together as much as we can both from Smarandache’s mathematical work and the works of many mathematicians around the world inspired by the Smarandache notions. We structured this book using numbered Definitions, Theorems, Conjectures, Notes and Comments, in order to facilitate an easier reading but also to facilitate references to a specific paragraph. We divided the Bibliography in two parts, Writings by Florentin Smarandache (indexed by the name of books and articles) and Writings on Smarandache notions (indexed by the name of authors). We treated, in this book, about 130 Smarandache type sequences, about 50 Smarandache type functions and many solved or open problems of number theory. We also have, at the end of this book, a proposal for a new Smarandache type notion, id est the concept of “a set of Smarandache-Coman divisors of order k of a composite positive integer n with m prime factors”, notion that seems to have promising applications, at a first glance at least in the study of absolute and relative Fermat pseudoprimes, Carmichael numbers and Poulet numbers. This encyclopedia is both for researchers that will have on hand a tool that will help them “navigate” in the universe of Smarandache type notions and for young math enthusiasts: many of them will be attached by this wonderful branch of mathematics, number theory, reading the works of Florentin Smarandache.

Book excerpt: In Deciphering Reality: Simulations, Tests, and Designs, Benjamin B. Olshin takes a problem-based approach to the question of the nature of reality. In a series of essays, the book examines the detection of computer simulations from the inside, wrestles with the problem of visual models of reality, explores Daoist conceptions of reality, and offers possible future directions for deciphering reality. The ultimate goal of the book is to provide a more accessible approach, unlike highly complex philosophical works on metaphysics, which are inaccessible to non-academic readers, and overly abstract (and at times, highly speculative) popular works that offer a mélange of physics, philosophy, and consciousness.

Throughout the book a historical perspective has been adopted and emphasis is given to some of the subject's applied aspects; in particular the field of cryptography is highlighted. At the heart of the book are the major number theoretic accomplishments of Euclid, Fermat, Gauss, Legendre, and Euler, and to fully illustrate the properties of numbers and concepts developed in the text, a wealth of exercises have been included. It is assumed that the reader will have 'pencil in hand' and ready access to a calculator or computer. For students new to number theory, whatever their background, this is a stimulating and entertaining introduction to the subject.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Complete reference edition. A new philosophical system created by Sorin Cerin. Its principles are: 1. The only true philosophy is the one accepting that Man does neither know the Truth, and implicitly, nor philosophy. 2. Man shall never neither know the Absolute Truth nor the Absolute Knowledge because his entire existence is based on the Illusion of Life. 3. Any philosophical system or philosopher which will pretend that says the Truth is liar. 4. The Coaxialism is, by excellence, the philosophy that does NOT pretend that it speaks the Truth, yet that accepts applications which sustain the reporting of the Illusion of Life to the Truth. 5. The Essence of the Truth consists in its reflection at the Elements appeared before its, as are those of Open Knowledge coming from the State of Fact. 6. The Coaxialism accepts operation with the opposites of the opposites of the Existence, with or without to be necessary the reporting to it, determining the Coaxiology. 7. Each Opposite has at Infinite another Opposite identical to it. 8. With as, an Opposite, is farther, so, between it and the Element opposable are inserted a larger number of opposites, with so the similarities between them will be more pronounced, and, with as, the number of opposites intercalated between the two Elements, will be smaller, with so, the contrasts between them will be more pronounced. 9. How can we speak of Universes without substrate in Existence, we can speak of the Knowledge without substrate in essence, hence, without subject. 10. The factor will always be the opposite of the infinity, face to which it will report as finite, just as the Knowledge is reported to the Un-knowledge, and the life to Death. In understanding coaxial, the Factor will be equivalent to God, the Unique Creator but and, by chance, face of his worlds. 11. In the worlds of each Creator Factor and Unique by Chance it will reflect all other Creator Factors and Unique by Chance under form of numbers, from ONE, which is the Primordial Factor, up to an infinite minus ONE of theCreator Factors and Unique Chance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mathematical analysis is largely a systematic study and exploration of inequalities — but for students the study of inequalities often remains a foreign country, difficult of access. This book is a passport to that country, offering a background on inequalities that will prepare undergraduates (and even high school students) to cope with the concepts of continuity, derivative, and integral. Beginning with explanations of the algebra of inequalities and conditional inequalities, the text introduces a pair of ancient theorems and their applications. Explorations of inequalities and calculus cover the number e, examples from the calculus, and approximations by polynomials. The final sections present modern theorems, including Bernstein's proof of the Weierstrass approximation theorem and the Cauchy, Bunyakovskii, Hölder, and Minkowski inequalities. Numerous figures, problems, and examples appear throughout the book, offering students an excellent foundation for further studies of calculus.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Published in 1918, The View of Life is Georg Simmel’s final work. Famously deemed “the brightest man in Europe” by George Santayana, Simmel addressed diverse topics across his essayistic writings, which influenced scholars in aesthetics, epistemology, and sociology. Nevertheless, certain core issues emerged over the course of his career—the genesis, structure, and transcendence of social and cultural forms, and the nature and conditions of authentic individuality, including the role of mindfulness regarding mortality. Composed not long before his death, The View of Life was, Simmel wrote, his “testament,” a capstone work of profound metaphysical inquiry intended to formulate his conception of life in its entirety. Now Anglophone readers can at last read in full the work that shaped the argument of Heidegger’s Being and Time and whose extraordinary impact on European intellectual life between the wars was extolled by Jürgen Habermas. Presented alongside these seminal essays are aphoristic fragments from Simmel’s last journal, providing a beguiling look into the mind of one of the twentieth century’s greatest thinkers.
