Book Synopsis It's Silence, Soundly by : John McGreal
Download or read book It's Silence, Soundly written by John McGreal and published by Troubador Publishing Ltd. This book was released on 2016-04-21 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It’s Silence, Soundly, It’s Nothing, Seriously and It’s Absence, Presently, continue The ‘It’ Series published by Matador since The Book of It (2010). They constitute another stage in an artistic journey exploring the visual and audial dialectic of mark, word and image that began over 25 years ago. In their aesthetic form the books are a decentred trilogy united together in a new concept of The Bibliograph. All three present this new aesthetic object, which transcends the narrow limits of the academic bibliography. The alphabetical works also share a tripartite structure and identical length. The Bibliograph itself is characterised by its strategic place within each book as a whole as well as by the complex variations in meaning of the dominant motifs – nothing/ness, absence and silence – which recur throughout the alphabetical entries that constitute the elements of each text. It’s Nothing, Seriously, for example, addresses the amusing paradox that so much continues to be written today about – nothing! The aleatory character of the entries in the texts encourage the modern reader to reflect on each theme and to read them in a new way. The reader is invited as well to examine their various inter-textual relations across given conventional boundaries in the arts and sciences at several levels of physical, psychical & social reproduction.

Download or read book Silencio Mental written by Dr. Bertrand Martin and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2016-12-16 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For more than twenty-five years, Dr. Bertrand Martin has been teaching meditation for combating stress and achieving an overall better quality of life. In his new book, he talks about his techniques and how to use them to achieve mental silence. Todays society suffers from stress, anxiety, depression, burnout, negativity, and much more, leading to unhappiness, diseases, and consumption of medicaments and drugs, Dr Martin says. Regular practice of mental silence meditation can prevent and cure many ailments. It also treads the path of full realization of ones potential. Although stress is a normal part of life, too much of it can have debilitating consequences. Dr. Martin, a psychiatrist and ayurvedic physician, has been teaching meditation to his patients since 1990. This has helped about 95 percent of his patients experience mental silence, a feeling he describes as a totally peacefully state of consciousness in which thinking process stops and a deep physical and mental relaxation is experienced. He shares his techniques for achieving mental silence in his eponymous book. It is specifically written for people living busy, fast-paced lives who want to meditate efficiently and achieve fast results. The steps shared are practical, measurable, clearly explained, and easy to practice. Dr. Bertrand Piccard, a psychiatrist and explorer, recommends the method. If you have picked up this book, it probably means that the search for pioneering solutions to further improve your quality of life is a matter that excites your curiosity. Not all of us can be discoverers of the universe, but we can go a long way just by exploring our own selves. Our mind is the richest, most valuable, and most efficient resource that is permanently available to each of us. Dr. Martin is proposing a conscious and serene method to shape up our mental, spiritual, and physical capacities. The method is simple, fast, and effective. Let yourself go, and you may land way beyond your usual certainties.
Book Synopsis Voces de Juncos En El Pantano by : Maricela Col Mel Ndez
Download or read book Voces de Juncos En El Pantano written by Maricela Col Mel Ndez and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2011-12 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The idea of dedicating a Festschrift to honor Professor Frédéric Manns on the happy occasion of his 70th birthday came to mind in the autumn of 2011 and work on this project had been continuing ever since. Felicitously achieving this goal, the Faculty of Biblical Sciences and Archaeology (Studium Biblicum Franciscanum) and the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land present this volume to Father Manns with gratitude for his profound scholarship and a lifetime service in the Holy Land. Perusing through Father Manns’ writings, it is easy to see a prominent and distinctive place devoted to the Gospel of John. It seemed therefore suitable to focus on this subject in the Festschrift honoring him: the title, Rediscovering John, relates to Manns’ significant contribution towards the better understanding of the Fourth Gospel. The volume comprises 21 studies authored by renowned scholars from various parts of the world, from different institutions and denominations. While the first half of the studies examines general issues (history of interpretation, textual transmission, intertextuality, theological themes, archaeology), the second half treats literary, narrative and exegetical approaches to particular texts of the Fourth Gospel. We augur that this rich collection will help to stimulate further discussion and reflection on the Gospel of John, as well as constitute an incentive to an already distinguished scholar to continue writing challenging and thought-provoking essays and books. Download or read book Fe y Desplazamiento written by Christopher M. Hays and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2022-12-20 with total page 470 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Download or read book Líneas written by Tim Ingold and published by Editorial GEDISA. This book was released on 2015-03-15 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis El Riesgo de Creer by : María Luisa Oliveres Sanvicens
Download or read book El Riesgo de Creer written by María Luisa Oliveres Sanvicens and published by Erasmus Ediciones. This book was released on 2012-02-23 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
Book Synopsis Octavio Paz by : Roberto Sánchez Benítez
Download or read book Octavio Paz written by Roberto Sánchez Benítez and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2020-10-29 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Octavio Paz: Ontology and Surrealism discusses poet Octavio Paz (1914–1998), one of Mexico´s most controversial intellectuals. Over several decades, Paz has been celebrated for his impact on literature and culture as a poet as well as an essayist, and he is recognized as a great thinker and as a student of German ontology and phenomenology. Roberto Sanchez Benitez analyzes in detail Paz’s training within the European philosophical thinking of the twentieth century, as well as in the artistic avant-garde, to illustrate the way in which philosophical, anthropological, linguistic, sociological, literary, and artistic proposals enriched his work and Mexican culture during the post-revolutionary period. Sanchez Benitez posits that Paz moved from a phenomenological ontology to a historicism of the human condition, wherein morality, politics, and the arts all reside in an ideological context where dogmatisms where impose in the face of a lack of internal criticism. This book explores the themes of the poetic act that Paz associated with his ontological and surrealist readings, leading up to when they were transformed by his experience in India and the assimilation of Eastern philosophies, along with going through a set of Western proposals relating to love, eroticism, and art. Scholars of literature, philosophy, Latin American Studies, and history will find this book particularly useful.

Book Synopsis Identity, Ritual, and Power in Colonial Puebla by : Frances L. Ramos
Download or read book Identity, Ritual, and Power in Colonial Puebla written by Frances L. Ramos and published by University of Arizona Press. This book was released on 2012-09-27 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Located between Mexico City and Veracruz, Puebla has been a political hub since its founding as Puebla de los Ángeles in 1531. Frances L. Ramos’s dynamic and meticulously researched study exposes and explains the many (and often surprising) ways that politics and political culture were forged, tested, and demonstrated through public ceremonies in eighteenth-century Puebla, colonial Mexico’s “second city.” With Ramos as a guide, we are not only dazzled by the trappings of power—the silk canopies, brocaded robes, and exploding fireworks—but are also witnesses to the public spectacles through which municipal councilmen consolidated local and imperial rule. By sponsoring a wide variety of carefully choreographed rituals, the municipal council made locals into audience, participants, and judges of the city’s tumultuous political life. Public rituals encouraged residents to identify with the Roman Catholic Church, their respective corporations, the Spanish Empire, and their city, but also provided arenas where individuals and groups could vie for power. As Ramos portrays the royal oath ceremonies, funerary rites, feast-day celebrations, viceregal entrance ceremonies, and Holy Week processions, we have to wonder who paid for these elaborate rituals—and why. Ramos discovers and decodes the intense debates over expenditures for public rituals and finds them to be a central part of ongoing efforts of councilmen to negotiate political relationships. Even with the Spanish Crown’s increasing disapproval of costly public ritual and a worsening economy, Puebla’s councilmen consistently defied all attempts to diminish their importance. Ramos innovatively employs a wealth of source materials, including council minutes, judicial cases, official correspondence, and printed sermons, to illustrate how public rituals became pivotal in the shaping of Puebla’s complex political culture.
