Book Synopsis Vibro-Acoustics, Volume 1 by : Anders Nilsson
Download or read book Vibro-Acoustics, Volume 1 written by Anders Nilsson and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-08-06 with total page 385 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This three-volume book gives a thorough and comprehensive presentation of vibration and acoustic theories. Different from traditional textbooks which typically deal with some aspects of either acoustic or vibration problems, it is unique of this book to combine those two correlated subjects together. Moreover, it provides fundamental analysis and mathematical descriptions for several crucial phenomena of Vibro-Acoustics which are quite useful in noise reduction, including how structures are excited, energy flows from an excitation point to a sound radiating surface, and finally how a structure radiates noise to a surrounding fluid. Many measurement results included in the text make the reading interesting and informative. Problems/questions are listed at the end of each chapter and the solutions are provided. This will help the readers to understand the topics of Vibro-Acoustics more deeply. The book should be of interest to anyone interested in sound and vibration, vehicle acoustics, ship acoustics and interior aircraft noise. This is the first volume, and covers the following topics: Mechanical systems with one degree of freedom, Frequency domain, Waves in solids, Interaction between longitudinal and transverse waves, General wave equation, Wave attenuation due to losses and transmission across junctions, Longitudinal vibrations of finite beams, Flexural vibrations of finite beams, Flexural vibrations of finite plates.

This book was released on 2011-08-10 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vibration and structural acoustics analysis has become an essential requirement for high-quality structural and mechanical design in order to assure acoustic comfort and the integrity, reliability and fail-safe behavior of structures and machines. The underlying technologies of this field of multidisciplinary research are evolving very fast and their dissemination is usually scattered over different and complementary scientific and technical publication means. In order to make it easy for developers and technology end-users to follow the latest developments and news in the field, this book collects into a single volume selected, extended, updated and revised versions of papers presented at the Symposium on Vibration and Structural Acoustics Analysis, coordinated by J. Dias Rodrigues and C. M. A. Vasques, which was organised as part of the 3rd International Conference on Integrity, Reliability & Failure (IRF’2009), co-chaired by J. F. Silva Gomes and Shaker A. Meguid, held at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal, 20-24 July 2009. These papers where chosen from the more than 60 papers presented at the conference symposium. Written by experienced practitioners and researchers in the field, this book brings together recent developments in the field, spanning across a broad range of themes: vibration analysis, analytical and computational structural acoustics and vibration, material systems and technologies for noise and vibration control, vibration-based structural health monitoring/evaluation, machinery noise/vibration and diagnostics, experimental testing in vibration and structural acoustics, applications and case studies in structural acoustics and vibration. Each chapter presents and describes the state of the art, presents current research results and discusses the need for future developments in a particular aspect of vibration and structural acoustics analysis. The book is envisaged to be an appealing text for newcomers to the subject and a useful research study tool for advanced students and faculty members. Practitioners and researchers may also find this book a one-stop reference that addresses current and future challenges in this field. The variety of case studies is expected to stimulate a holistic view of sound and vibration and related fields and to appeal to a broad spectrum of engineers such as the ones in the mechanical, aeronautical, aerospace, civil and electrical communities.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Whcn the original German edition of this book first appeared in print, the undcrsigned was asked to review it for an English-language journal. In the course of this review process he was so struck by the book's unusual approach, as well as by the realization that no similar collection of information was available in English, that he conceived thc idea of undertaking this translation. Arrangements with the original authors and with the publisher were completed late in 1969; the translation task was begun at that. time and occupied nearly two and onc-half years-largcly because the undersigned's other professional act.ivities permitted him toderote only hisspare time to the translation effort. Because this passage of time also brought with it some advances in the state of t.he art, an attempt was made to include the most significant of these aclvances, as well as newer references and some minor correc tions, in the translatecl rersion. Except for these changes, which were macle with the enthusiastic endorsement and collaboration of the origi nal authors, the translatecl rersion remains very close to the original. In fact, the translator took special care to preserve not only the mean ing, but also the "flaror", of the original text. The translator is most grateful to Professor L. Cremer and Dr

Along with many other projects completed over the course of his career, Dr. Beyer translated Von Neumann’s seminal work, Mathematical Foundations of Quantum Mechanics from the original German, spent 30 years translating Russian physics treatises and journals, served as editor of the English translation of the Soviet Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics, and also authored Sounds of our Times: Two Hundred Years of Acoustics.
Book Synopsis Vibration of Structures and Machines by : Giancarlo Genta
Download or read book Vibration of Structures and Machines written by Giancarlo Genta and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 625 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Addressing important practical aspects of nonlinear vibration analysis, this book presents cases rarely discussed in the existing literature yet are of considerable interest to researchers and practical engineers, such as rotor dynamics and torsional vibration of engines. The book can be used not only as a reference, but also as a graduate-level text, as it develops the subject from its foundations and contains problems and solutions for each chapter. The book begins with a discussion of vibrations in linear systems with one degree of freedom, providing a mathematical and physical basis for the subsequent chapters. Linear systems with many degrees of freedom serve to introduce the modal analysis of vibrations as well as some useful computational procedures. The book then turns to continuous linear systems, discussing both analytical solutions that provide physical insights as well as discretization techniques that supply tools for actual computation. The discussion of nonlinear vibrations includes a treatment of chaotic vibrations and other new insights. The book concludes with detailed discussions of the dynamics of rotating and reciprocating machinery.

Book Synopsis Sound and Structural Vibration by : Frank J. Fahy
Download or read book Sound and Structural Vibration written by Frank J. Fahy and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a unified qualitative and quantitative account of the physical mechanisms and characteristics of linear interaction between audio-frequency vibrational motion in compressible fluids and structures with which they are in contact. The primary purpose is to instruct the reader in theoretical approaches to the modelling and analysis of interactions, whilst simultaneously providing physical explanations of their dependence upon the parameters of the coupled systems. It is primarily to the engineering student that the book is addressed, in the firm belief that a good engineer remains a student throughout his professional life. A preoccupation with the relevance and validity of theoretical analyses in relation to practical problems is a hallmark of results obtained from theoretical analysis of idealized models and the behaviour of the less than ideal realities from which they are abstracted.
