Book Synopsis Digital Signal Processing: DSP and Applications by : Dag Stranneby
Download or read book Digital Signal Processing: DSP and Applications written by Dag Stranneby and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-07-13 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a uniquely practical DSP text which places the emphasis on understanding the principles and applications of DSP with a minimum of mathematics. In one volume, it covers a broad area of digital signal processing systems such as A/D and D/A converters, adaptive filters, spectral estimation, neural networks, Kalman filters, fuzzy logic, data compression, error correction and DSP programming. Many courses will find that this book will replace several texts currently in use.The level is ideal for introductory university modules, and similar courses such as HNC/D. As DSP has come to be studied at a lower academic level over recent years this text meets a genuine need. It is also suitable for use on industrial training courses and ideal as a reference text for professionals.A readable introduction to the practical application of DSPBroad coverage of the subject means this will cover a typical undergraduate module in just one bookPractical focus with maths treated as a practical tool - not an advanced maths text

Book Synopsis Random Signals Estimation and Identification by : Nirode Mohanty
Download or read book Random Signals Estimation and Identification written by Nirode Mohanty and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 636 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The techniques used for the extraction of information from received or ob served signals are applicable in many diverse areas such as radar, sonar, communications, geophysics, remote sensing, acoustics, meteorology, med ical imaging systems, and electronics warfare. The received signal is usually disturbed by thermal, electrical, atmospheric, channel, or intentional inter ferences. The received signal cannot be predicted deterministically, so that statistical methods are needed to describe the signal. In general, therefore, any received signal is analyzed as a random signal or process. The purpose of this book is to provide an elementary introduction to random signal analysis, estimation, filtering, and identification. The emphasis of the book is on the computational aspects as well as presentation of com mon analytical tools for systems involving random signals. The book covers random processes, stationary signals, spectral analysis, estimation, optimiz ation, detection, spectrum estimation, prediction, filtering, and identification. The book is addressed to practicing engineers and scientists. It can be used as a text for courses in the areas of random processes, estimation theory, and system identification by undergraduates and graduate students in engineer ing and science with some background in probability and linear algebra. Part of the book has been used by the author while teaching at State University of New York at Buffalo and California State University at Long Beach. Some of the algorithms presented in this book have been successfully applied to industrial projects.
Book Synopsis Learning Systems and Intelligent Robots by : K. Fu
Download or read book Learning Systems and Intelligent Robots written by K. Fu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the Proceedings of the S~cond U. S. -Japan Seminar on Learning Control and Intelligent Control. The seminar, held at Gainesville, Florida, from October 22 to 26, 1973, was sponsored by the U. S. -Japan Cooperative Science Program, jointly supported by the National Science Foundation and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. The full texts of the twenty-one presented papers are included. The papers cover a variety of topics related to learning control and intelligent control, ranging from pattern recognition to system identification, from learning control to intelligent robots. During the past decade, there has been a considerable increase of interest in problems of machine learning, systems which exhibit learning behavior. In designing a system, if the a priori infor mation required is unknown or incompletely known, one approach is to design a system which is capable of learning the unknown infor mation during its operation. The learned information will then be used to improve the system's performance. This approach has been used in the design of pattern recognition systems, automatic control systems and system identification algorithms. If we naturally extend our goal to the design of systems which will behave more and more intelligently, learning systems research is only a preliminary step towards a general concept of integrated intelligent systems. One example of this class of systems is the intelligent robot, which integrates pattern recognition. learning and problem-solving into one intelligent system.
