Book Synopsis V/STOL Employing ARL Thrust Augmentation Concepts by : C. Henderson
Download or read book V/STOL Employing ARL Thrust Augmentation Concepts written by C. Henderson and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of ARL thrust augmentation concepts to a V/STOL transport and a tactical aircraft has been investigated. The augmentor system utilizes the exhaust of turbofan engines to power the ejector. Interim results are presented.
Book Synopsis V/STOL Employing ARL Thrust Augmentation Concepts - Research Test Vehicle Configuration Summary and Design Technology Report by : C. Henderson
Download or read book V/STOL Employing ARL Thrust Augmentation Concepts - Research Test Vehicle Configuration Summary and Design Technology Report written by C. Henderson and published by . This book was released on 1968 with total page 434 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of a detailed preliminary design study of a V/STOL research test vehicle (RTV), employing ARL thrust augmentation concepts, are presented. The V/STOL research airplane uses a high by-pass ratio turbofan engine with ejector thrust augmentation in the wing and fuselage nose. Design layouts of all major configuration components and systems are presented together with results of analytical investigations and trade-off studies.

Download or read book Thrust Augmentation for V/stol: Arl's Research and Concepts written by William S. Campbell and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 74 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report deals with the Aerospace Research Laboratories' (ARL) efforts in achieving thrust augmentation for air-breathing propulsion systems. Qualitative and quantitative analyses of the thrust augmentation process are reported and compared with experimental results. Application of the process to V/STOL propulsion is also discussed.

Book Synopsis An Experimental Investigation of New Concepts in Ejector Thrust Augmentation for V/stol by : Morton Alperin
Download or read book An Experimental Investigation of New Concepts in Ejector Thrust Augmentation for V/stol written by Morton Alperin and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 78 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The basic concept involved in the investigation is the utilization of the Coanda effect in combination with an external cascade of airfoils. That combination served to achieve a more efficient rotation and amplification of the jet thrust vector as a result of both the large induced mass flow from the environment and the simultaneous high lift of the cascaded airfoils. The program objective was to establish optimal performance by systematic variation of the pertinent parameters. Experimental results showed a gain of 20% in augmented thrust compared to that of a simple Coanda cylinder. Since the observed mass flow through the airfoil cascade was small, in-house tests were performed with diffusion. The resultant increase in secondary mass flow produced a gain of 65% in thrust augmentation over the tests without diffusion despite large regions of flow separation in the diffuser. It appears highly probable that further large gains can result from precise diffuser design and boundary layer control in the diffuser. (Author).

Book Synopsis Thrust Augmentation Considerations for Stol and Extended Cruise Propulsion by : William S. Campbell
Download or read book Thrust Augmentation Considerations for Stol and Extended Cruise Propulsion written by William S. Campbell and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The application of thrust augmentation concepts to short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft propulsion is described for some typical installations. Aerodynamic and ejector thrust effects are treated separately so that the performance of the ejector-powered wing can be calculated as that of a jet-flapped airfoil and the ejector thrust components then added. Some considerations on the performance of the ejector-powered wing in cruise are included. A program for ejector calculations is given. (Author).
