Book Synopsis Application of the Finite Element Method to Vertically Stratified Hydrodynamic Flow and Water Quality by : Robert C. MacArthur
Download or read book Application of the Finite Element Method to Vertically Stratified Hydrodynamic Flow and Water Quality written by Robert C. MacArthur and published by . This book was released on 1980 with total page 22 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computer program RMA-7 has been expanded to be able to simulate density induced flows and water quality conditions typically found in deep reservoirs. The mathematical basis for the program and methods of implementing the code for various kinds of flow are discussed. Results from two different applications are presented. The first example simualtes flow conditions that were measured in a physical model of a deep reservoir. Results are also included for simulations of the circulation, temperature and dissolved oxygen concentrations for Lake Taneycomo, Missouri. Comparison of measured and computed results from both applications shows that the RMA-7 model provides reasonably accurate results for both flow circulating and water quality. (Author).
Book Synopsis Development of Generalized Free Surface Flow Models Using Finite Element Techniques by : D. Michael Gee
Download or read book Development of Generalized Free Surface Flow Models Using Finite Element Techniques written by D. Michael Gee and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Two finite element hydrodynamic models, one for two-dimensional free surface flow in the horizontal plane and one for the vertical plane are being evaluated. Although the models are formulated to solve dynamic flow problems, all work to date has been with steady state solutions. Recent research has focused on mass continuity performance of the models, proper boundary condition specification, and comparison with finite difference techniques. The objective of this research is to develop generalized mathematical models for routine use by the engineering community. This paper presents recent results of evaluation and application of the models. (Author).
Book Synopsis Flood Damage Assessments Using Spatial Data Management Techniques by : Darryl W. Davis
Download or read book Flood Damage Assessments Using Spatial Data Management Techniques written by Darryl W. Davis and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Corps of Engineers Hydrologic Engineering Center has developed techniques that perform the spatial data analysis approach and individual structure approach and work is near completion on an integrated analysis package. The capability therefore exists to perform damage appraisals in a manner that encourages a general geographic and land use approach (thus greatly facilitating the study of nonstructural measures) while preserving the ability to analyze individual, unique structures should the need arise. This paper discusses the basic concepts of a spatial data management approach to damage appraisals and highlight(s) its integrated use with more traditional individual structure approaches. Selected example results are presented"--Page 2
Book Synopsis The Development and Servicing of Spatial Data Management Techniques in the Corps of Engineers by : R. Pat Webb
Download or read book The Development and Servicing of Spatial Data Management Techniques in the Corps of Engineers written by R. Pat Webb and published by . This book was released on 1978 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is using spatial data management techniques in studies that are structured in a manner that requires spatial data management techniques to play a central and dominant role. The Corps of Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) provided the basic developmental work on the spatial data management and attendant processing techniques and it is continuing in the role of the basic technology transfer agent. The significant efforts required to document, maintain and service the technology and provide ready consultation service reported herein were planned for during the developmental efforts and are currently being centrally managed to encourage smooth adoption of the techniques by Corps field offices.
