John Piper has devoted his life to showing us that the glory of God is object of the soul’s happiness. Now, his burden in this book is to demonstrate that this same glory is the ground of the mind’s certainty. God’s peculiar glory shines through his Word. The Spirit of God enlightens the eyes of our hearts. And in one self-authenticating sight, our minds are sure and our hearts are satisfied. Download or read book The Unveiling written by R. Jeff Collene and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2023-08-04 with total page 432 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Applying all seven keys introduced in Book 1 of The Unveiling: The Book of Sevens, we now open The Seven Visions revealing seven facets of a comprehensive revelation. The goal is to bring understanding to the Book of Revelation that is readable, devotional, and applicable. The intent is to bring hope and light on this perplexing and rarely taught book. The Revelation is not intended to be an indecipherable enigma, it is not meant to puzzle and bewilder but to disclose God’s plan, purpose, and provision to His bond servants. Therefore, to that end, the purpose is to bring the authors comments on each facet of The Revelation to the reader with these goals in mind. The Book of Revelation is unveiled as a seven faceted jewel. The seven visions of the Book of Revelation open to God’s bond servants the insight and encouragement needed to persevere until He comes. It reveals the fulfillment of old testament prophecy with Israel’s Great Day of the Lord in 70 AD while in these same visions reveals the cataclysmic end of this age. These two tracks of judgment bring to a conclusion the “former days” and introduce “these last days” as prophetically revealed throughout Scripture. “Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of the prophecy, and heed the things which are written in it; for the time is near.” (Revelation 1:3)

Book Synopsis Not My People by : David Ian Starling
Download or read book Not My People written by David Ian Starling and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2011 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a survey of recent approaches to the study of Paul's use of Scripture, the four main chapters explore the use of Isa. 54:1 in Gal. 4:27, the catena of scriptural texts in 2 Cor. 6:16-18, Hos. 1:10 and 2:23 in Rom. 9:25-26 and Isa. 57:19 in Eph. 2:17. In each case, the ancienwriter seeks to place the letter in its historical context and rhetorical situation, identify the significance of any conflations or modifications that have taken place in the citation process, analyse the citation's function within its immediate context, compare its use by Paul with the various ways in which the text is interpreted and appropriated by other Second Temple writers, and evaluate the main proposals offered as explanations for the riddle posed by the citation. That done, he offers his own account of the hermeneutic at work, based on an analysis of the explicit and implicit hermeneutical pointers through which the letter guides its readers in their appropriation of Scripture. This book compares the hermeneutical approaches of the four letters and draws conclusionsconcerning the interplay of continuity and discontinuity between Scripture and gospel in Paul's letters and the relationship between grace and Gentile inclusion in his theology.
Book Synopsis Unveiling Final Jesus by : Dean C. Knudsen
Download or read book Unveiling Final Jesus written by Dean C. Knudsen and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009-06-30 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "In terms of the written canon of Scripture, the Book of Revelation is Gods last word. Common logic would seem to dictate that a God who is intelligent, reasonable and articulate would speak last words that would be easily understood by the vast majority of His audience. Unfortunately, in the case of The Revelation, the reality is quite different. For most of the last two millennia of Church history, Christians have fussed and fought (metaphorically, if not physically) over the intent, intelligibility and interpretation of The Revelation. What was given as a source of encouragement, unity and hope has become a cause of discouragement, division and fear." In this book, the author presents a series of "portraits" of Jesus Christ, which are revealed in the successive apocalyptic visions contained in the Book of Revelation. These visions were not given to stir fear or confusion but to inspire hope and to give courage to a young Church - a Church that was struggling with the harsh realities of living according to the teachings of Christ in the midst of a decidedly non-Christian world. The author claims that Jesus is the focal point and central figure of this mysterious and final book of the Bible. In this manner, he seeks to make the message of Revelation relevant and reasonable to every reader.
