Book Synopsis The Truth Untold by : Jermicka Glenn
Download or read book The Truth Untold written by Jermicka Glenn and published by . This book was released on 2020-12-24 with total page 71 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Sometimes we have trouble saying what we feel deep inside, because the thoughts are too heavy. Too sad., perhaps, a little too dark. We always get told to shake it off, just be happy. But no one explains to us what it means to be happy or why we can't stop and acknowledge those other feelings and try to understand ourselves from that point of view? All it does is make us lost and confused. This is for the people who can't speak those thoughts, who always get told to just be happy, this is for the lost souls, this is for anyone who feels like no one else can relate to them. It is okay to be sad, be lost, confused, burnt out, frustrated. Embrace that part of you. It's who you are. It's great being positive and sunshine. But you're human, it's okay to let go. You have a right to feel sad, to feel even depressed, to feel broke. There's nothing wrong with that. My only advice is don't let the darkness become you, only embrace it. If you're a lost soul. These poems are for you.

Book Synopsis The Erotics of Grief by : Megan Moore
Download or read book The Erotics of Grief written by Megan Moore and published by Cornell University Press. This book was released on 2021-09-15 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Erotics of Grief considers how emotions propagate power by exploring whose lives are grieved and what kinds of grief are valuable within and eroticized by medieval narratives. Megan Moore argues that grief is not only routinely eroticized in medieval literature but that it is a foundational emotion of medieval elite culture. Focusing on the concept of grief as desire, Moore builds on the history of the emotions and Georges Bataille's theory of the erotic as the conflict between desire and death, one that perversely builds a sense of community organized around a desire for death. The link between desire and death serves as an affirmation of living communities. Moore incorporates literary, visual, and codicological evidence in sources from across the Mediterranean—from Old French chansons de geste, such as the Song of Roland and La mort le roi Artu and romances such as Erec et Enide, Philomena, and Floire et Blancheflor; to Byzantine and ancient Greek novels; to Middle English travel narratives such as Mandeville's Travels. In her reading of the performance of grief as one of community and remembrance, Moore assesses why some lives are imagined as mattering more than others and explores how a language of grief becomes a common language of status among the medieval Mediterranean elite.

Download or read book ZOETROPE written by Briji K T and published by Ukiyoto Publishing. This book was released on with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ZOETRPHE : Poetry is said to be the first form of literature. It unfolds feelings with a brief expression of words. I am presenting this Zoetrope to the readers in the interest of sharing my ardent feelings and vision when I traverse my surroundings. The scenario may be common, but the vision differs, and the pen inscribe it as on a stone tablet which will reincarnate when a reader touches it. All these poems are soliloquies when I close all windows to the outside world and open the door to my own shore. Mind is free to tread anywhere in seconds on a flying horse or magic carpet. There I am the princess, me the child, adolescent crazy lover, mother, philosopher and ..so on.! In my journey often I am afflicted..., inhibited... may feign or derail by delusion or contemplate. I wish earnestly for incarnation or live a life of others till my “Companion “ take me with him. I intent not to explain each and every poem as I present it to the readers. According to me, the half sung melody and the untold story pulls the chariot of a writer forward.!

Download or read book Davey's Daughter written by Linda Byler and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2015-02-10 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Barns are burning in Amish author, Linda Byler's, second book in the ‘Lancaster Burning' series, and no one knows who's doing it or why. Can Sarah Beiler end the terror that is pulling apart her community, even as her own heart is pulled between two young men? Barns are burning in the Lancaster County's Amish community, and no one knows who's doing it or why. Sarah Beiler's barn was the first to burn and it was quickly followed by two other barn fires. The entire Amish community is on edge and wrestling with how they should respond to these seemingly random crimes. Sarah thinks Ashley, whom she's learned to know at the local farmers market, knows more about the fires than she will admit. But Sarah can't convince her to share her secrets. Should the Amish consider police protection as Sarah's cousin, Melvin, insists, or should the community continue to follow their traditional peaceful approach to violence as Sarah's father, Davey, the local minister, counsels? Then another barn burns, this one more devastating than any other, and the community again rallies around the distressed family. Even in the midst of this chaos, life must go on for Sarah and her family. But now it feels as if nothing is normal. The local Amish school board asks Sarah to take over teaching a school where the students are out of control. How will she handle obstinate Amish kids and their defensive parents? Matthew is asking if the Amish church is the right fit for him. Will Sarah follow him if he decides to leave the community? Sarah's mother can't stay out of it and keeps urging Sarah to pay more attention to Lee, the well-behaved Amish man, who helps anyone in the community in need. How will Sarah respond to all of the forces that are pulling her in different directions? She is Davey's daughter, after all, raised to love and respect the long-held traditions of her people. But will the outside forces become so great that she gives up her parents' ways and decides to leave her community? Will her father agree to police protection for the vulnerable Amish farmers especially for those who are widowed—or continue to insist that God will provide? Download or read book Traumatic Childbirth written by Cheryl Tatano Beck and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-07-18 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Postpartum depression has become a more recognized mental illness over the past decade as a result of education and increased awareness. Traumatic childbirth, however, is still often overlooked, resulting in a scarcity of information for health professionals. This is in spite of up to 34% of new mothers reporting experiencing a traumatic childbirth and prevalence rates rising for high risk mothers, such as those who experience stillbirth or who had very low birth weight infants. This ground-breaking book brings together an academic, a clinician and a birth trauma activist. Each chapter discusses current research, women’s stories, the common themes in the stories and the implications of these for practice, clinical case studies and a clinician’s insights and recommendations for care. Topics covered include: mothers’ perspectives, fathers’ perspectives, the impact on breastfeeding, the impact on subsequent births, PTSD after childbirth and EMDR treatment for PTSD. This book is a valuable resource for health professionals who come into contact with new mothers, providing the most current and accurate information on traumatic childbirth. It also presents mothers’ experiences in a manner that is accessible to women, their partners, and families.
