Book excerpt: 'If you have ever wondered how you might have felt and reacted had you lived in Palestine and heard tales about a wonderful 'Teacher' performing miracles down in Galilee, you will definitely enjoy this book.' Farifteh V. Robb, author of In the Shadow of the Shahs “When a pot breaks, it’s useless; at best there might be a shard that you can use to scoop grain. But what about a broken life? What about me? I feel so fragmented. Can I be repaired somehow? How do I live with the hate I feel towards those I’m supposed to be closest to? My life is in pieces and I don’t know what to do…” Will one tragic event leave friendship and family ties irrevocably broken? And how will a historical Middle Eastern mountain community deal with news of a miracle worker? Is he too good to be true?

He decides to impart wisdom on his oldest son and heir, Lori. These are turbulent times, the South has gone crazy and only further South, is where the misunderstood family can regroup and get their last chance at redemption. These are the beginnings of the Marston-dynasty, and of their control over the magical entity, the Absolution-Spear. As the journey points them southwards, Lori and his friend Gonzo Rains set sail for the Saboga-island in Panama. This island has been devastated by a terrible wave, and little life is left. Life, that the sailors see as a new prospect; new resources up for collecting. But they have only learned what the tide has taken away; they will take years to understand just what has survived. It's been over a thousand years since the events of WHAT MYNOS SAW, and the Seers are helpless when they watch a lightning hit the Earth from the Moon. What begins from a chase down in the Mexican forests, sets the stage for a battle where lives and entire lineages are at-stake. During this years-long pursuit for power, a battle is fought with bullets, betrayals, spears and conspiracies. Two families are in a race for an absolute prize and their offspring are born into this race. Their children grow up in this race. They wear crowns, and wield weapons that hold such power they couldn't conceive of, even if it was explained... And the island sees it all.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ice once covered most of North America. Today, Alaska, with its approximately 100,000 glaciers, is a living example of its profound influence - the state's rugged landscape is a textbook of glacial activity, and geologist and photographer Michael Collier guides you through its pages. In the company of scientists studying this ancient ice, he approaches the great sleeping beasts on foot (crampons snugly strapped on), from a kayak (rocking gently in an icefall's wake), and from the air (through the window of a small plane). Follow him across the tricky terrain of glacial terms and geologic time - it's a journey well worth taking.

Book Synopsis Relational Passage of Time by : Matias Slavov
Download or read book Relational Passage of Time written by Matias Slavov and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-06-20 with total page 155 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book defends a relational theory of the passage of time. The realist view of passage developed in this book differs from the robust, substantivalist position. According to relationism, passage is nothing over and above the succession of events, one thing coming after another. Causally related events are temporally arranged as they happen one after another along observers’ worldlines. There is no unique global passage but a multiplicity of local passages of time. After setting out this positive argument for relationism, the author deals with five common objections to it: (a) triviality of deflationary passage, (b) a-directionality of passage, (c) the impossibility of experiencing passage, (d) fictionalism about passage, and (e) the incompatibility of passage with perduring objects. Relational Passage of Time will appeal to scholars and advanced students working in philosophy of time, metaphysics, and philosophy of physics.

Book Synopsis Angling Admonitions by : Barry Blackstone
Download or read book Angling Admonitions written by Barry Blackstone and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-06-02 with total page 318 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Contained in this book are one hundred and fifty “fish tales” from fifty years of fishing, shared by an avid fisherman who has also spent the last fifty years fishing for men as a small-town pastor in New England. This accounting of passed fishing trips and fish caught reflects on the spiritual application to the techniques and tactics using in fishing for trout and salmon, and a few other species of fish, to the biblical application for people Jesus called “fishers of men”! In each of these short stories, Pastor Blackstone reveals to his reader the wonderful blessings that come from leading someone to a saving knowledge of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The author is convinced that Jesus deliberately chose fishermen to be his earliest disciples, men he would call “apostles,” because those Galilean fisherman had the necessary characteristics and qualifications to teach (cast) his gospel and to share it with the multitudes. It is the hope of the writer that this book will not only be of interest to someone that fishes, but ultimately will be found profitable to anyone that wants to share his or her faith in Jesus Christ with others.
