Book excerpt: The objective in this work was to analyze the structure and organization in the operations of a military organization that supports one of the greatest Divisions of the United States Army, the 3rd Infantry Division. The history of Morale, Welfare and Recreation Division as it relates to civilians employees, soldiers, family members and the Ft Stewart, Hunter Army Airfield Community. Morale, Welfare, and Recreation history started on the battlefields of World War 1 were Salvation Army sisters and Red Cross volunteers ministered to the needs of soldiers. The focus of this work provided administrative aspects of public administration and its effects on military success. On October 18th, 2007 Chief of Staff of the Army General George W. Casey Jr, and Secretary of the Army Pete Green signed and unveiled the Army Family Covenant pledging to support its soldiers and families, and active guard and reserve organizations with funding programs to deliver a quality of life commensurate with their service and sacrifices to the nation. It is this commitment that propelled and motivates this organization. The Army Morale, Welfare and Recreation exists because the United States Army states it is committed to the wellbeing of the community of people who serve and stand ready to defend the nation and enhance the lives of soldiers, their families, civilian employees and military retirees. In all organizations there will be transition, changes and improvements within their environments I hope with this work I have opened the minds and hearts of those brave men and women who love the military and the United States of America. With god on our side who can defeat us.

Book Synopsis The Other End of the Spear by : John J. Mcgrath
Download or read book The Other End of the Spear written by John J. Mcgrath and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2011-09-16 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book looks at several troop categories based on primary function and analyzes the ratio between these categories to develop a general historical ratio. This ratio is called the Tooth-to-Tail Ratio. McGrath's study finds that this ratio, among types of deployed US forces, has steadily declined since World War II, just as the nature of warfare itself has changed. At the same time, the percentage of deployed forces devoted to logistics functions and to base and life support functions have increased, especially with the advent of the large-scale of use of civilian contractors. This work provides a unique analysis of the size and composition of military forces as found in historical patterns. Extensively illustrated with charts, diagrams, and tables. Book Synopsis I’M Tim Maude, and I’M a Soldier by : Stephen E. Bower
Download or read book I’M Tim Maude, and I’M a Soldier written by Stephen E. Bower and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2015-02-10 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lt. Gen. Tim Maude shares the distinction of being the highest ranking American soldier to lose his life in military action. But unlike Lesley J. McNair and Simon B. Buckner Jr., both lieutenant generals who died during World War II, the battle he died in was not one he expected. On Sept. 11, 2001, terrorists commandeered an American Airlines flight out of Dulles International Airport and crashed it into the southwest wall of the Pentagon, killing Maude and more than a hundred other military and civilian workers. Scores of other people were injured when the airliner ripped through the building at 530 miles per hour. At the time of his death, Maude served as the deputy chief of staff for personnel, the Armys chief executor of personnel policy and manager of the various programs affecting the strength and moral well-being of Americas land forces. As one of only five members of the Armys Adjutant Generals Corps to rise to the rank of lieutenant general, his story is one of triumph and celebration, and an abiding commitment to family, country, and service.

Book excerpt: NOTE: NO FURTHER DISCOUNT FOR THIS PRODUCT -- OVERSTOCK SALE - Significantly reduced list price During Vietnam War (1965-1973), the US Army suffered a severe breakdown in soldier morale and discipline in Vietnam -- matters that are not only at the heart of military leadership, but also ones that overlap with the mission of Army psychiatry. The psychosocial strain on deployed soldiers and their leaders in Vietnam, especially during the second half of the war, produced a wide array of individual and group symptoms that thoroughly tested Army psychiatrists and mental health colleagues there. This book seeks to consolidate a history of the military psychiatric experience in Vietnam through assembling and synthesizing extant information from a wide variety of sources documenting the success and failure of Army's psychiatry in responding to the psychiatric and behavioral problems that changed and expanded as the war became protracted and bitterly controversial. Mental health professionals, especially psychiatrists in both military and civilian professions, as well as military historians researching the Vietnam era may be interested in this volume. Download or read book Abu Ghraib After the Scandal written by Salvatore Anthony Esposito, Jr. and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2012-12-10 with total page 209 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In March 2003 the United States military launched an invasion of Iraq. Months afterwards rumors began circulating about human rights violations in military prison facilities throughout occupied Iraq. In January 2004, an Army MP serving in Abu Ghraib Prison left a disc containing photographs of prisoner abuse on the bed of a military investigator. The photographs were infamous the moment they came to public attention, and the face of the Iraq War was re-drawn to be that of sadistic American soldiers. However, soldiers have lived and bled and died protecting the human rights of detainees at Abu Ghraib. The present work details the courage, resolve, and mercy of the soldiers of the 344th Combat Support Hospital, Army reservists from New York who were also present at the Twin Towers scene on September 11, 2001.
