Book Synopsis Uniqueness and Non-Uniqueness of Semigroups Generated by Singular Diffusion Operators by : Andreas Eberle
Download or read book Uniqueness and Non-Uniqueness of Semigroups Generated by Singular Diffusion Operators written by Andreas Eberle and published by Springer. This book was released on 2007-01-05 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses both probabilists working on diffusion processes and analysts interested in linear parabolic partial differential equations with singular coefficients. The central question discussed is whether a given diffusion operator, i.e., a second order linear differential operator without zeroth order term, which is a priori defined on test functions over some (finite or infinite dimensional) state space only, uniquely determines a strongly continuous semigroup on a corresponding weighted Lp space. Particular emphasis is placed on phenomena causing non-uniqueness, as well as on the relation between different notions of uniqueness appearing in analytic and probabilistic contexts.

Book Synopsis Mixed Automorphic Forms, Torus Bundles, and Jacobi Forms by : Min Ho Lee
Download or read book Mixed Automorphic Forms, Torus Bundles, and Jacobi Forms written by Min Ho Lee and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-05-13 with total page 262 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume deals with various topics around equivariant holomorphic maps of Hermitian symmetric domains and is intended for specialists in number theory and algebraic geometry. In particular, it contains a comprehensive exposition of mixed automorphic forms that has never yet appeared in book form. The main goal is to explore connections among complex torus bundles, mixed automorphic forms, and Jacobi forms associated to an equivariant holomorphic map. Both number-theoretic and algebro-geometric aspects of such connections and related topics are discussed.

Book Synopsis Consistency Problems for Heath-Jarrow-Morton Interest Rate Models by : Damir Filipovic
Download or read book Consistency Problems for Heath-Jarrow-Morton Interest Rate Models written by Damir Filipovic and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-11-02 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bond markets differ in one fundamental aspect from standard stock markets. While the latter are built up to a finite number of trade assets, the underlying basis of a bond market is the entire term structure of interest rates: an infinite-dimensional variable which is not directly observable. On the empirical side, this necessitates curve-fitting methods for the daily estimation of the term structure. Pricing models, on the other hand, are usually built upon stochastic factors representing the term structure in a finite-dimensional state space. Written for readers with knowledge in mathematical finance (in particular interest rate theory) and elementary stochastic analysis, this research monograph has threefold aims: to bring together estimation methods and factor models for interest rates, to provide appropriate consistency conditions and to explore some important examples.

Download or read book Characters and Cyclotomic Fields in Finite Geometry written by Bernhard Schmidt and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-10-13 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph contributes to the existence theory of difference sets, cyclic irreducible codes and similar objects. The new method of field descent for cyclotomic integers of presribed absolute value is developed. Applications include the first substantial progress towards the Circulant Hadamard Matrix Conjecture and Ryser`s conjecture since decades. It is shown that there is no Barker sequence of length l with 13
Book Synopsis Noncommutative Gröbner Bases and Filtered-Graded Transfer by : Huishi Li
Download or read book Noncommutative Gröbner Bases and Filtered-Graded Transfer written by Huishi Li and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-10-19 with total page 205 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This self-contained monograph is the first to feature the intersection of the structure theory of noncommutative associative algebras and the algorithmic aspect of Groebner basis theory. A double filtered-graded transfer of data in using noncommutative Groebner bases leads to effective exploitation of the solutions to several structural-computational problems, e.g., an algorithmic recognition of quadric solvable polynomial algebras, computation of GK-dimension and multiplicity for modules, and elimination of variables in noncommutative setting. All topics included deal with algebras of (q-)differential operators as well as some other operator algebras, enveloping algebras of Lie algebras, typical quantum algebras, and many of their deformations.
Book Synopsis Measures with Symmetry Properties by : Werner Schindler
Download or read book Measures with Symmetry Properties written by Werner Schindler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-02-12 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Symmetries and invariance principles play an important role in various branches of mathematics. This book deals with measures having weak symmetry properties. Even mild conditions ensure that all invariant Borel measures on a second countable locally compact space can be expressed as images of specific product measures under a fixed mapping. The results derived in this book are interesting for their own and, moreover, a number of carefully investigated examples underline and illustrate their usefulness and applicability for integration problems, stochastic simulations and statistical applications.
Book Synopsis Geometric, Control and Numerical Aspects of Nonholonomic Systems by : Jorge Cortés Monforte
Download or read book Geometric, Control and Numerical Aspects of Nonholonomic Systems written by Jorge Cortés Monforte and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-10-19 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonholonomic systems are a widespread topic in several scientific and commercial domains, including robotics, locomotion and space exploration. This work sheds new light on this interdisciplinary character through the investigation of a variety of aspects coming from several disciplines. The main aim is to illustrate the idea that a better understanding of the geometric structures of mechanical systems unveils new and unknown aspects to them, and helps both analysis and design to solve standing problems and identify new challenges. In this way, separate areas of research such as Classical Mechanics, Differential Geometry, Numerical Analysis or Control Theory are brought together in this study of nonholonomic systems.
Book Synopsis Derived Functors in Functional Analysis by : Jochen Wengenroth
Download or read book Derived Functors in Functional Analysis written by Jochen Wengenroth and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-01-01 with total page 141 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The text contains for the first time in book form the state of the art of homological methods in functional analysis like characterizations of the vanishing of the derived projective limit functor or the functors Ext1 (E, F) for Fréchet and more general spaces. The researcher in real and complex analysis finds powerful tools to solve surjectivity problems e.g. on spaces of distributions or to characterize the existence of solution operators. The requirements from homological algebra are minimized: all one needs is summarized on a few pages. The answers to several questions of V.P. Palamodov who invented homological methods in analysis also show the limits of the program.
Book Synopsis Stability Estimates for Hybrid Coupled Domain Decomposition Methods by : Olaf Steinbach
Download or read book Stability Estimates for Hybrid Coupled Domain Decomposition Methods written by Olaf Steinbach and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2003-03-10 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Domain decomposition methods are a well established tool for an efficient numerical solution of partial differential equations, in particular for the coupling of different model equations and of different discretization methods. Based on the approximate solution of local boundary value problems either by finite or boundary element methods, the global problem is reduced to an operator equation on the skeleton of the domain decomposition. Different variational formulations then lead to hybrid domain decomposition methods.
Book Synopsis Analytic Capacity, Rectifiability, Menger Curvature and Cauchy Integral by : Hervé M. Pajot
Download or read book Analytic Capacity, Rectifiability, Menger Curvature and Cauchy Integral written by Hervé M. Pajot and published by Springer. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Based on a graduate course given by the author at Yale University this book deals with complex analysis (analytic capacity), geometric measure theory (rectifiable and uniformly rectifiable sets) and harmonic analysis (boundedness of singular integral operators on Ahlfors-regular sets). In particular, these notes contain a description of Peter Jones' geometric traveling salesman theorem, the proof of the equivalence between uniform rectifiability and boundedness of the Cauchy operator on Ahlfors-regular sets, the complete proofs of the Denjoy conjecture and the Vitushkin conjecture (for the latter, only the Ahlfors-regular case) and a discussion of X. Tolsa's solution of the Painlevé problem.
Book Synopsis Yetter-Drinfel'd Hopf Algebras over Groups of Prime Order by : Yorck Sommerhäuser
Download or read book Yetter-Drinfel'd Hopf Algebras over Groups of Prime Order written by Yorck Sommerhäuser and published by Springer. This book was released on 2004-10-19 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Being the first monograph devoted to this subject, the book addresses the classification problem for semisimple Hopf algebras, a field that has attracted considerable attention in the last years. The special approach to this problem taken here is via semidirect product decompositions into Yetter-Drinfel'd Hopf algebras and group rings of cyclic groups of prime order. One of the main features of the book is a complete treatment of the structure theory for such Yetter-Drinfel'd Hopf algebras.

Book Synopsis Local and Semi-Local Bifurcations in Hamiltonian Dynamical Systems by : Heinz Hanßmann
Download or read book Local and Semi-Local Bifurcations in Hamiltonian Dynamical Systems written by Heinz Hanßmann and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-10-18 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book demonstrates that while elliptic and hyperbolic tori determine the distribution of maximal invariant tori, they themselves form n-parameter families. Therefore, torus bifurcations of high co-dimension may be found in a single given Hamiltonian system, absent untypical conditions or external parameters. The text moves logically from the integrable case, in which symmetries allow for reduction to bifurcating equilibria, to non-integrability, where smooth parametrisations must be replaced by Cantor sets.
