Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's time to ask, "Are Christians really entitled to all the blessings and promises of God? Or do ungodly lives disqualify the believer from them?" This compelling journey through scriptures is for a desperately hurting world that needs to know the truth. It challenges the reader to dig deeper into the Word of God and to endure with a belief so strong that the righteousness of God flows in undeniable power and love. Undeserving yet Entitled is an eye-opening look into scriptures that will inspire believers to examine their own hearts, motives, actions, and faith. Lisa Jones invites readers to lean on the power of God, to fill them with love for him, and in an outpouring of love to others, that must endure to the end. Transformation through grace, evidenced by good works and love for others, is the proof of the Spirit of God working through believers. This book takes readers into the core of the Bible to discover their purpose, understand judgment, receive forgiveness, and walk in grace through power from the Holy Creator. As the scriptures unfold throughout this book, saints will confirm that they answer to a higher calling and worship the one true God. Culminating in a short study of end times and the necessity for endurance, believers will be emboldened to live for Christ with integrity, being eternity-minded, and prepared to live through persecution and tribulation as forewarned of by the prophets, gospels, apostles, epistles, and Jesus himself. As this virtuous quest draws to a close, believers will have answers to those nagging questions that have eluded them and fill their voids with the one true Savior. They will come away from this book with a greater understanding of salvation and the narrow way of Christianity.
Book Synopsis Deserving and Entitled by : Anne L. Schneider
Download or read book Deserving and Entitled written by Anne L. Schneider and published by State University of New York Press. This book was released on 2012-02-01 with total page 387 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Public policy in the United States is marked by a contradiction between the American ideal of equality and the reality of an underclass of marginalized and disadvantaged people who are widely viewed as undeserving and incapable. Deserving and Entitled provides a close inspection of many different policy arenas, showing how the use of power and the manipulation of images have made it appear both natural and appropriate that some target populations benefit from policy, while others do not. These social constructions of deservedness and entitlement, unless challenged, become amplified over time and institutionalized into permanent lines of social, economic, and political cleavage. The contributors here express concern that too often public policy sends messages harmful to democracy and contributes significantly to the pattern of uneven political participation in the United States.

Book Synopsis Making Public in a Privatized World by : David A. McDonald
Download or read book Making Public in a Privatized World written by David A. McDonald and published by Zed Books Ltd.. This book was released on 2016-02-15 with total page 140 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do we provide effective public services in a deeply neoliberal world? In the wake of the widespread failure of privatisation efforts, societies in the global south are increasingly seeking progressive ways of recreating the public sector. With contributors ranging from cutting-edge scholars to activists working in health, water, and energy provision, and with case studies covering a broad spectrum of localities and actors, Making Public in a Privatized World uncovers the radically different ways in which public services are being reshaped from the grassroots up. From communities holding the state accountable for public health in rural Guatemala, to waste pickers in India and decentralized solar electricity initiatives in Africa, the essays in this collection offer probing insights into the complex ways in which people are building genuine alternatives to privatization, while also illustrating the challenges which communities face in creating public services which are not subordinated to the logic of the market, or to the monolithic state entities of the past.

Download or read book Emotions, Qualia, And Consciousness written by Alfred Kaszniak and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2001-07-19 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The experience of emotion is a ubiquitous component of the stream of consciousness; emotional qualia interact with other contents and processes of consciousness in complex ways. Recent research has supported the hypothesis that important functional aspects of emotion can operate outside the conscious awareness. Primary types of emotions are found in animals, while secondary, more complex types are involved in interpersonal relationships. Emotions both influence genetic repair mechanisms of individuals and are responsible for group behavior. Many scholars and scientists believe that no scientific or philosophic account of consciousness can be complete without an understanding of the role of emotion.

Book excerpt: First published in 1998, this volume offers some solutions to the inherent difficulties with moving from philosophical generalities to specific policies, by exploring how a bridge might be built between political philosophy and social policy analysis. In light of these findings, Steven R. Smith evaluates the relationship between the Centre-Left and the New Right, focusing on the way in which concepts of individual autonomy and equality are used by political philosophers and social policy makers. Smith explores post-1945 training, education, social security and community care policy within the United Kingdom.
