Download or read book The Phoebe A. Hearst Expedition to Naga ed-Deir, Cemeteries N 2000 and N 2500 written by Vanessa Davies and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2020-11-16 with total page 543 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Phoebe A. Hearst Expedition to Naga ed-Deir, Cemeteries N 2000 and N 2500 presents the results of excavations directed by George A. Reisner and led by Arthur C. Mace. The site of Naga ed-Deir, Egypt, is unusual for its continued use over a long period of time (c. 3500 BCE–650 CE). Burials in N 2000 and N 2500 date to the First Intermediate Period/Middle Kingdom and the Coptic era. In keeping with Reisner’s earlier publications of Naga ed-Deir, this volume presents artifacts in chapter-length studies devoted to a particular object type and includes a burial-by-burial description. The excavators’ original drawings, notes, and photographs are complemented by a contemporary analysis of the objects by experts in their subfields.
Book Synopsis Antonio Triana and the Spanish Dance by : Rita Vega de Triana
Download or read book Antonio Triana and the Spanish Dance written by Rita Vega de Triana and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-02-04 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book also traces the evolution of the Spanish Dance technique, marked as it is by a turbulent history. Antonio Triana was a dancer of mature artistry, dignity and power. His physical and technical achievements went beyond what is generally known about Spanish Dance. His dance presented the essence of the Spanish character and, in his choreography, he used his traditional background for his brilliant inspirations. He partnered the legendary La Argentinita, Pilar Lopez and Carmen Amaya with spirit and gallantry. Over the years he developed a very distinct method of teaching and he became one of the foremost Spanish Flamenco dancers and teachers of his time. Rita Vega de Triana formed the Triana Ballet Español with her late husband. She currently teaches Hispanic dance and related subjects at the University of Texas at El Paso and directs her own school as well as performing around the United States as a guest artist and choreographer.

One day, without warning, Megan moves away. As a parting gift, she sends Lily a beautiful red shawl knitted by her grandmother. Lily is lost without her friend – until she hears the barking of a strange dog and goes into the garden to investigate. The familiar hedge has disappeared; so has the garden gate. Now there is a stone wall and a heavy wooden door. When Lily dares to lift the heavy latch and go through the door she finds a new friend and discovers a world far different from her own. She visits her new friend, Effie, and her little dog, Lupin, regularly – and with them she has an adventure she could never have dreamt of. Twice she parts with the red shawl when others have greater need of it, and when she parts with it forever the shawl becomes a symbol of love and friendship that reaches through time.

It tells the tale of the four men who helped or hindered her path to freedom. Fate was unkind to Frances, but throughout her life, she battled forward fighting convention and the class system. The story starts when her well-to-do, but aged, parents marry her off at the age of seventeen to Jack, a cold-hearted widower with a young son. Respectfully she did as she was told but this was her first mistake. She became the brunt of his sarcasm and abuse in the bedroom. Fortunately, Jack soon met with a suspicious end! Then, along came a dashingly handsome James... But wait, there’s someone else watching this particular saga unfold, patiently biding his time!
