Book Synopsis Working Guide to Drilling Equipment and Operations by : William Lyons
Download or read book Working Guide to Drilling Equipment and Operations written by William Lyons and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2009-09-16 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Working Guide to Drilling Equipment and Operations offers a practical guide to drilling technologies and procedures. The book begins by introducing basic concepts such as the functions of drilling muds; types of drilling fluids; testing of drilling systems; and completion and workover fluids. This is followed by discussions of the composition of the drill string; air and gas drilling operations; and directional drilling. The book identifies the factors that should be considered for optimized drilling operations: health, safety, and environment; production capability; and drilling implementation. It explains how to control well pressure. It details the process of fishing, i.e. removal of a fish (part of the drill string that separates from the upper remaining portion of the drill string) or junk (small items of non-drillable metals) from the borehole. The remaining chapters cover the different types of casing and casing string design; well cementing; the proper design of tubing; and the environmental aspects of drilling. - Drilling and Production Hoisting Equipment - Hoisting Tool Inspection and Maintenance Procedures - Pump Performance Charts - Rotary Table and Bushings - Rig Maintenance of Drill Collars - Drilling Bits and Downhole Tools

Book Synopsis Physical and Mathematical Modeling of Earth and Environment Processes (2018) by : V. I. Karev
Download or read book Physical and Mathematical Modeling of Earth and Environment Processes (2018) written by V. I. Karev and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-03-24 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book entitled "Physical and Mathematical Modeling of Earth and Environment Processes" is the result of a collaborative work after the 4th international scientific youth forum held at the IPMech RAS on November 1–3, 2018. The book includes theoretical and experimental studies of processes in the atmosphere, oceans, the lithosphere and their interaction; environmental issues; problems of human impact on the environment; methods of geophysical research. A special focus is given to the extraction of hydrocarbon resources, including unconventional sources. This book also focuses on new approaches to the development of hydrocarbon fields, very important in today's geopolitical conditions. The book presents new results of the experimental and theoretical modeling of deformation, fracture and filtration processes in the rocks in connection with issues of creating scientific fundamentals for new hydrocarbon production technologies.
Book Synopsis Colloids and Interfaces in Oil Recovery by : Spencer Taylor
Download or read book Colloids and Interfaces in Oil Recovery written by Spencer Taylor and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2019-06-21 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is well-known that colloid and interface science and petroleum production are inextricably linked. Whether in the reservoir, with its porous structure, or during recovery, crude oil is intimately associated with rock surfaces and with water, often in the form of emulsions. This situation leads to highly complex systems, comprising multiple colloids and interfaces, which require to be optimized if oil is to be recovered efficiently, both in terms of economic cost and with due concern for the environment. This book contains a compilation of contemporary research topics which illustrate various aspects of the importance of colloids and interfaces in crude oil recovery through modifying conditions between the rock, crude oil, and water in the reservoir, in order to achieve improved oil recovery. The specific topics covered relate both to conventional oils, in which waterflooding is the most common secondary and tertiary means of recovery, and to non-conventional heavy oil and natural bitumen, which require thermal recovery methods, owing to their high viscosity.
Book Synopsis Shale Gas Production Processes by : James G. Speight
Download or read book Shale Gas Production Processes written by James G. Speight and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2013-06-11 with total page 171 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The extraction of natural gas from shale formations is no simple task and perhaps the most expensive when compared to over unconventional gases. Although, its popularity has grown over the years, there is much to be done to make their production and processing more cost-effective. Brief but comprehensive, Shale Gas Production Processes begins with an overview of the chemistry, engineering and technology of shale gas. This is quickly followed by self-contained chapters concerning new and evolving process technologies and their applications as well as environmental regulations. Written in an easy to read format, Shale Gas Production Processes will prove useful for those scientists and engineers already engaged in fossil fuel science and technology as well as scientists, non-scientists, engineers, and non-engineers who wish to gain a general overview or update of the science and technology of shale gas. In addition, the book discusses methods used to reduce environmental footprint and improve well performance. - Updates on the evolving processes and new processes - Provides overview of the chemistry, engineering, and technology of shale gas - Guides the reader through the latest environmental regulation regarding production and processing of shale
