Instead, he’s out to prove to his family that he can handle the high-stakes job, despite the danger. But the second Megan shows up in Miami, needing a place to live and hiding from her brothers, all of those good intentions to keep his distance disappear. This is it. His second chance. He won’t miss this opportunity to win her, no matter what her brothers say. And when her past follows her across the country, putting both their futures at stake, he’s ready. This is the moment Cade can finally prove to the family that he can handle this job and be the man to protect Megan. Unbreakable Future is the third and final book in the Family Ties Series. It’s a romantic suspense book with a good amount of humor and, of course, a happily ever after.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A barrier to entailment exists if you can't get conclusions of a certain kind from premises of another. One of the most famous barriers in philosophy is Hume's Law, which says that you can't get normative conclusions from descriptive premises, or in slogan form: you can't get an ought from an is. This barrier is highly controversial, and many famous counterexamples were proposed in the last century. But there are other barriers which function almost as philosophical platitudes: no Universal conclusions from Particular premises, no Future conclusions from premises about the Past, and no claims that attribute Necessity from premises that merely tell us how things happen to be in the Actual world. Barriers to Entailment proposes a unified logical account of five barriers that have played important roles in philosophy, in the process showing how to diagnose proposed counterexamples and arguing that the case for Hume's Law is as strong as that for the platitudinous barriers. The first two parts of the book employ techniques from formal logic, but present them in an accessible way, suitable for any reader with some background in first-order model theory (of the kind that might be taught in a first class in logic). Gillian Russell introduces tense, modal, indexical, and deontic formal logics, but always avoids unneeded complexity. Each barrier is connected to broader philosophical topics: universality, time, necessity, context-sensitivity, and normativity. Russell brings out under-recognised connections between the domains and lays the groundwork for further work at the intersections. The last part of the book transposes the formal work to informal barrier theses in the philosophy of language, in the process doing new work on the concept of logical consequence, and providing new responses to proposed informal counterexamples to Hume's Law which employ hard-to-formalise tools from natural language, such as speech acts and thick normative expressions.

Book excerpt: Life is bizarre. What makes it meaningful is not floating along the smooth seas, but being able to look back and say I weathered the rough ones. Unfortunately, only after people have gone through devastating storms do they realize how tragedy can indeed turn into transformation. When you are caught in major upheaval, though, all hope seems lost, all advice forlorn. In those moments, you yearn for a lifeline that keeps you above water. In this book, Nico Menzel offers an instruction manual for anybody that is experiencing such hardship in their life, outlining practical strategies to get through the storm and prepare for the new course. His insights stem from his own experiences, are rooted in ancient wisdom, and backed up by modern science to show you that there may be a golden sky waiting. Health, the quality of our lives, comes down to our ability to process and deal with pain - and with the right tools, you can even grow from it.

Book excerpt: The classic novel of fly fishing and spirituality republished with a new Afterword by the author. Since its publication in 1983, The River Why has become a classic. David James Duncan's sweeping novel is a coming-of-age comedy about love, nature, and the quest for self-discovery, written in a voice as distinct and powerful as any in American letters. Gus Orviston is a young fly fisherman who leaves behind his comically schizoid family to find his own path. Taking refuge in a remote cabin, he sets out in pursuit of the Pacific Northwest's elusive steelhead. But what begins as a physical quarry becomes a spiritual one as his quest for self-knowledge batters him with unforeseeable experiences. Profoundly reflective about our connection to nature and to one another, The River Why is also a comedic rollercoaster. Like Gus, the reader emerges utterly changed, stripped bare by the journey Duncan so expertly navigates.

Our wishful thinking may or may not have a good outcome, but when it does, it never leaves us satisfied. This 30-day devotional in the Food for the Journey series shows us that Christian hope, by contrast, is guaranteed and eternal, dealing with certainties: Christ's death for us, his forgiveness of sin and our hope of heaven when we die. Covering passages from Matthew, 1 Peter, Romans, 2 Corinthians, 1 Thessalonians and Revelation, in this devotional some of the Keswick Convention's most beloved preachers - including Don Carson, Ray Ortlund and Jonathan Lamb - unpack the Bible's teaching on hope. In self-contained daily devotions they show us how we can enjoy the pleasures of earth knowing that they point to the far greater delights we'll experience one day in God's presence. In a small, easily portable format, Hope is perfect for carrying around with you on the go. Like all the Food for the Journey books, its undated format means you can start and finish at any time of the year, and work through it at your own pace. Whether you are looking to renew your own sense of hope and wonder at God's goodness, or want to dig more deeply into what the Bible teaches us about hope, this little devotional is packed full of wisdom that will help strengthen your faith in your walk with Christ. 'The hope set before us' is far greater than we can ever imagine. This devotional shows the glorious contours of our inexhaustible hope, offering encouragement and reassurance, whatever our present circumstances may be.

Book excerpt: "Raw, unflinching, and authentic, Kate McLaughlin's thoughtful What Unbreakable Looks Like carefully crafts a story exposing the vulnerability of underage trafficked girls and what it takes to begin the process of healing from sexual trauma."–Christa Desir, author, advocate, and founding member of The Voices and Faces Project Lex was taken–trafficked–and now she’s Poppy. Kept in a hotel with other girls, her old life is a distant memory. But when the girls are rescued, she doesn’t quite know how to be Lex again. After she moves in with her aunt and uncle, for the first time in a long time, she knows what it is to feel truly safe. Except, she doesn’t trust it. Doesn't trust her new home. Doesn’t trust her new friend. Doesn’t trust her new life. Instead she trusts what she shouldn’t because that's what feels right. She doesn’t deserve good things. But when she is sexually assaulted by her so-called boyfriend and his friends, Lex is forced to reckon with what happened to her and that just because she is used to it, doesn’t mean it is okay. She’s thrust into the limelight and realizes she has the power to help others. But first she’ll have to confront the monsters of her past with the help of her family, friends, and a new love. Kate McLaughlin’s What Unbreakable Looks Like is a gritty, ultimately hopeful novel about human trafficking through the lens of a girl who has escaped the life and learned to trust, not only others, but in herself.

Book excerpt: “Wealth without work Pleasure without conscience Science without humanity Knowledge without character Politics without principle Commerce without morality Worship without sacrifice. https://vidjambov.blogspot.com/2023/01/book-inventory-vladimir-djambov-talmach.html Every Russian person sacredly loves his homeland. And in the way Russian people relate to Russia, there is a lot different from the attitude of foreigners to their native countries. Russian people not only love their land as the place of their homeland and their ancestors, where their whole life flows, not only are grateful to her for the opportunity to lead a quiet life, which she gives them, - Russians honor Russia as a sacred thing of the soul, pray for it ... Miraculously, their love for their native country is intertwined with faith in God. They consider it a happy and longed-for deed to die for their homeland, and all their enthusiastic and special feeling for Russia is so clearly expressed in two words: "Holy Russia." Why is one of all the countries in the world called "Holy?" What is the difference between the people who applied this great word “saint” to the name of their land and does not call it otherwise? Yes, the significance of this name of Rus is great, and a deep meaning is hidden in it. This word also points to the special God's choice of the Russian people and to its special spiritual goals and aspirations. There was in ancient times one sacred people descended from the righteous chosen by God. The Lord Himself led him in wonderful ways, gave him earthly power; he could also receive future heavenly glory. This people were Jews. But this chosen people did not remain faithful to God's covenants; at the head of it there were persons who replaced the living faith of the heart with the dry performance of certain external rites. Life-giving love has dried up in him. And when the God of love sent into the world to save people, to remove the curse for the Fall of the first man - His Son: the Jews did not recognize Christ, and the Son of Man was crucified in Jerusalem on the cross. And the bright destiny that this people could acquire for itself was forever destroyed by a terrible cry before Pilate condemned Christ: "His blood be on us and on our children."

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "We humans make our lives painfully complex." Relationships, which are fundamentally simple, now swim with complexity. The boring simplicity of being physically hard and in shape drowns in a swamp of exciting complex and lazy actions. The pursuit of wealth evolved away from simple work and simple teamwork to a virtual devaluing of hard work into hacks and overindulging actions that have no value. The simple act of learning is now mired in politics and debt. Spiritually, we also are void of meaning to the point where simple prayer or meditation signifies depression and loss of soul. There are five areas in each of your lives that demand simplicity and abhor complexity: Spiritual, Relationship, Wealth, Physical, and Intellectual. To win, you need only do Three Simple Things in each. Success is that simple.
