Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Unashamed Love is a heartfelt poetry book filled with scripture prayers, praises, and love hymns. It is inspiring in nature and includes feelings of love and heartbreak. As readers read each line slowly, their love for Jesus will grow. Readers can also read some of these poems as their own prayers to the Lord when they cannot find the right words to say. They will then feel motivated and inspired to do great things for the Lord as they surrender their lives to Him. This book is about letting go of the things that get in the way of living up to our full purpose that God created for us. It is about expressing our love and desperate need for Jesus. For as Psalm 42:1 states, "As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, O God." This verse reminds us that our lives depend on God and that we are to thirst for Him because with Him, all things are possible, and our souls are at rest. As you feel the words of wisdom from this book sink into your heart, allow the Lord to speak passion into your heart and learn to run to Him for everlasting peace and joy.

Book excerpt: Shame is everywhere. Whether it's related to relationships, body image, work difficulties, or a secret sin, we all experience shame at some point in our lives. While shame can manifest itself in different ways—fear, regret, and anger—it ultimately points us to our most fundamental need as human beings: redemption. Shame never disappears in solitude, and Heather Davis Nelson invites us to not only be healed of our own shame but also be a part of healing for others. She shines the life-giving light of the gospel on the things that leave us feeling worthless and rejected, giving us courage us to walk out of shame's shadows and offering hope for our bondage to brokenness. Through the gospel, we discover the only real and lasting antidote to shame: exchanging our shame for the righteousness of Christ alongside others on this same journey.

Whatever your “secret”—shocking or not—if you’re trapped by it, you’re trapped by it. And chances are you’re not getting help because you’re too scared of what people would think if they found out. Unashamed breaks the silence about the sins girls think they have to hide. With daring and a touch of humor, author Jessie Minassian shares her own story of struggle and victory. God longs for you to live in the freedom He died for! So whether you’re caught in a cycle of sin yourself or just want to know how to help the silent sufferers all around you, let this book be the beginning of your journey toward health, healing, and freedom in His love for you.

Book excerpt: Bestselling author, speaker, and activist Christine Caine helps you overcome past guilt and live an unashamed life. Shame can take on many forms. It hides in the shadows of the most successful, confident and high-achieving woman who struggles with balancing her work and children, as well as in the heart of the broken, abused and downtrodden woman who has been told that she will never amount to anything. Shame hides in plain sight and can hold us back in ways we do not realize. But Christine Caine wants readers to know something: we can all be free. “I know. I’ve been there,” writes Christine. “I was schooled in shame. It has been my constant companion from my very earliest memories. I see shame everywhere I look in the world, including in the church. It creeps from heart to heart, growing in shadowy places, feeding on itself so that those struggling with it are too shamed to seek help from shame itself.” In Unashamed, Christine reveals the often-hidden consequences of shame—in her own life and the lives of so many Christian women—and invites you to join her in moving from a shame-filled to a shame-free life. In her passionate and candid style, Christine leads you into God’s Word where you will see for yourself how to believe that God is bigger than your mistakes, your inadequacies, your past, and your limitations. He is not only more powerful than anything you’ve done but also stronger than anything ever done to you. You can deal with your yesterday today, so that you can move on to what God has in store for you tomorrow—a powerful purpose and destiny he wants you to fulfill. Join the journey. Lay ahold of the power of Jesus Christ today and step into the future—his future for you—a beautiful, full, life-giving future, where you can even become a shame-lifter to others. Live unashamed! Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From one of the sharpest Christian voices of her generation and host of the podcast Relatable comes a framework for escaping our culture of trendy narcissism—and embracing God instead. We're told that the key to happiness is self-love. Instagram influencers, mommy bloggers, self-help gurus, and even Christian teachers promise that if we learn to love ourselves, we'll be successful, secure, and complete. But the promise doesn't deliver. Instead of feeling fulfilled, our pursuit of self-love traps us in an exhausting cycle: as we strive for self-acceptance, we become addicted to self-improvement. The truth is we can't find satisfaction inside ourselves because we are the problem. We struggle with feelings of inadequacy because we are inadequate. Alone, we are not good enough, smart enough, or beautiful enough. We're not enough--period. And that's okay, because God is. The answer to our insufficiency and insecurity isn't self-love, but God's love. In Jesus, we're offered a way out of our toxic culture of self-love and into a joyful life of relying on him for wisdom, satisfaction, and purpose. We don't have to wonder what it's all about anymore. This is it. This book isn't about battling your not-enoughness; it's about embracing it. Allie Beth Stuckey, a Christian, conservative new mom, found herself at the dead end of self-love, and she wants to help you combat the false teachings and self-destructive mindsets that got her there. In this book, she uncovers the myths popularized by our self-obsessed culture, reveals where they manifest in politics and the church, and dismantles them with biblical truth and practical wisdom.

Book excerpt: If you live for people's acceptance, you'll die from their rejection. Two-time Grammy winning rap artist, Lecrae, learned this lesson through more than his share of adversity—childhood abuse, drugs and alcoholism, a stint in rehab, an abortion, and an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Along the way, Lecrae attained an unwavering faith in Jesus and began looking to God for affirmation. Now as a chart-topping industry anomaly, he has learned to ignore the haters and make peace with his craft. The rap artist holds nothing back as he divulges the most sensitive details of his life, answers his critics, shares intimate handwritten journal entries, and powerfully models how to be a Christian in a secular age. This is the story of one man's journey to faith and freedom. *Cover/Interior design by Alex Medina, photography by Mary Caroline Mann

Book excerpt: After two years, Shula still can’t believe her husband, Seth, is gone. In an effort to live and to feel again, she accepts an offer to counsel women about marriage, love and fulfillment at Naaman’s, a Christian spa and retreat center designed to meet the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical needs of women. It all begins with Shula’s first week-long retreat, Naked and Unashamed, where she leads four women on a journey, exploring the ins and outs God’s design for marriage. Barbara’s husband finally retired, the season she’s dreamed of, but so far nothing has changed. Surely there must be passion after sixty, and she’s hoping she’ll discover ways to spice things up in more ways than adding cayenne pepper to her chicken tetrazzini. Lindsey hopes to boost her confidence as her wedding draws near. She’s done everything right, but wonders how she’ll measure up to Gabriela, the mother of her fiancé’s son, and how on earth she’ll fare as a stepmother and a new wife? Then there’s Savannah, who believes she has the perfect marriage. So why did her husband, Reed, suggest she attend this retreat? Savannah’s hoping some new moves in the kitchen and bedroom will solve her problems. But Shula’s hoping to go deeper and somehow penetrate the wall that guards Savannah’s heart. And finally, there’s Alex. She’s already determined divorce is the answer. This week is her last-ditch effort to salvage her marriage, or at least give the illusion that she gave it her all before giving the “loafer” the boot. Join these four very different women, united by Shula’s unusual therapeutic tactics and the amazing staff, services, and food at Naaman’s, as they make unexpected discoveries about marriage, love, and more importantly themselves, all while learning to live free—free of guilt, pain, fear, sorrow, shame, and the lies of the enemy—free to live naked and unashamed.

Book excerpt: Win the War for Your Own Integrity After Phil Robertson quoted Scripture in an interview with a national magazine, his hit show, Duck Dynasty, put him on “indefinite hiatus.” Phil immediately knew what had happened: he had become a target of cancel culture. Since that time, Phil has spoken out against public shaming, strategic campaigns to get Bible-believing employees fired, and other tactics that are wreaking havoc in our society. In a deeply divided country, with so many bent on condemning and silencing others, Phil calls for us to carry out the unifying message of Jesus Christ. In Uncanceled, Phil shares his own experiences with cancel culture as he encourages us to turn to Scripture as we navigate politics, personal conversations, and new cultural norms; helps us see the psychological and political motivations behind silencing conservative voices; reminds us that the goal is not to convince others to like us but to win the war for our own integrity by refusing to bow down to the god of political correctness; and shows us how to trade retaliation for the love and forgiveness that God offers. Uncanceled is a blueprint for standing up for the truth of Jesus Christ in a culture that has forgotten how to have respectful conversations. As Phil reminds us, when we embrace the truth that Jesus Christ already paid an enormous debt to cancel our sins, we find a path to redemption, a way to forgiveness, and a means for godly connection.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: DescriptionThe mental health issue related to this book is bipolar disorder. This illness includes both ends of the spectrum, which is mania at the one end and clinical depression at the other. At its worst, it is debilitating, involving long stays in a psychiatric hospital in order for doctors to discover the appropriate medication thus balancing out the brain chemistry so that the patient can function in a reasonable manner in the outside world. I sincerely think bipolar disorder must be the most serious of the mental illnesses because it is so violently distressing for the patient., LOVE's MELODY, is a collection of poetry and pieces of prose taking us through the 1990's on a roller coaster of extreme mental highs and lows. This writing depicts the power of the human spirit to conquer the most impossible of situations in life and, I trust, give other sufferers of this dreadful disease some kind of hope. About the AuthorNatasha Wilde was born in Chester in 1949. After moving down south she attended St. Albans Girls' Grammar School where she obtained eight 'O' levels and two 'A' levels. She won a scholarship to St. Martin's School of Art in London, studying Graphic Design, specialising in Film Animation. When she was just half way through her Diploma course, she was offered a job with Halas and Bachelor animation company, the largest in the country. But alas, that never happened. She contracted bipolar disorder at the age of twenty always maintaining there was a strong possibility she had been "spiked" with the hallucinatory drug, L.S.D. She remembers experiencing a hellish and terrifying time, walking the streets of London, totally lost, hearing 'voices', hallucinating, all of her senses heightened. This episode landed her in a scary hospital in Friern Barnet which had been an asylum in Victorian times. Natasha was disposed of in a newer building for less serious cases. The hospital has since been closed down under Margaret Thatcher's orders, the poor occupants let loose, spilling out into the community to somehow make their way. Throughout her twenties Natasha was in and out of the local hospital where doctors experimented with various drugs and twice she received E.C.T. ie Electro Convulsive Therapy. She was fortunate in that this worked well, bringing her down from her impossible fantasy world bang smack into reality which was a trifle depressing. In between bouts of illness, the psychotic 'highs' and the clinical 'lows', she took on menial work and then decided to move up to Leeds with her current Yorkshire boyfriend. Here, she joined an agency and became self employed as an Exotic Dancer which she loved. No stigma was attached regarding her illness, no forms to fill in, no questions asked. She had a good figure and could move. She danced in clubs, pubs, working mens' clubs and sometimes, rather dicey, illegal drinking dens known as shabims. While living in Leeds, she met her husband to be who was originally from Scotand and although her 'demoms' were determined to drive her crazy again, looking back, she guesses her husband rather saved her from a fate "worse than death." She moved back to Hertfordshire two years later in the mid seventies and after another spell in hospital, joined several agencies and began dancing again. She married in 1980 and gave birth to a daughter in 1981. Her pregnancy was hell, mentally, and a major depression set in. Immediately after giving birth she became 'psychotic' and this was treated She was married for ten years, then divorced her husband on the grounds of 'unreasonable behaviour. During her marriage she had kept fairly well but the stress from the divorce encouraged her illness to return in its 'psychotic' form landing her bang smack on Warren Ward for the umpteenth time. Her book, Love's Melody, takes off from here. Much of it was written in Creative Writing Therapy at her local hospital. Natasha now has an adorable granddaughter and after many years, th

Book excerpt: A Muslim woman’s searingly honest memoir of her journey toward self-acceptance as she comes to see her body as a symbol of rebellion and hope—and chooses to live her life unapologetically Ever since she was little, Leah Vernon was told what to believe and how to act. There wasn’t any room for imperfection. ‘Good’ Muslim girls listened more than they spoke. They didn’t have a missing father or a mother with a mental disability. They didn’t have fat bodies or grow up wishing they could be like the white characters they saw on TV. They didn’t have husbands who abused and cheated on them. They certainly didn’t have secret abortions. In Unashamed, Vernon takes to task the myth of the perfect Muslim woman with frank dispatches on her love-hate relationship with her hijab and her faith, race, weight, mental health, domestic violence, sexuality, the millennial world of dating, and the process of finding her voice. She opens up about her tumultuous adolescence living at the poverty line with her fiercely loving but troubled mother, her absent dad, her siblings, and the violent dissolution of her 10-year marriage. Tired of the constant policing of her clothing in the name of Islam and Western beauty standards, Vernon reflects on her experiences with hustling paycheck to paycheck, body-shaming, and redefining what it means to be a “good” Muslim. Irreverent, youthful, and funny, Unashamed gives anyone who is marginalized permission to live unapologetic, confident lives. “Vernon’s determined advocacy for body positivity as a feminist and mental health issue, and her painful journey to self-acceptance, are moving and powerful, forcing readers to examine their own preconceptions about beauty standards and health.” —Booklist
