La Riforma delle Istituzioni Afam ha portato ad una radicale trasformazione non solo dei percorsi accademici, ma anche delle singole discipline in essi attivate. Inoltre, il Triennio accademico è preceduto dai Corsi Propedeutici, dove, per essere ammessi, lo studente deve dimostrare di possedere una competenza teorico-musicale. Infine, la stragrande maggioranza delle Istituzioni Afam organizzano altresì percorsi preparatori all'ammissione ai Propedeutici, in cui vengono affrontati gli argomenti della teoria e della lettura musicale. A chi si rivolge, dunque, questo Manuale? Beh, credo sia corretto indicare non la tipologia di Corso ma la tipologia di studente. Mi riferisco dunque a studenti che debbono acquisire le competenze per l'ammissione ai Corsi Propedeutici, o per lo studio durante gli stessi Corsi preparatori o, ancora, per gli studenti che accedono ai Corsi Accademici con un debito formativo nelle discipline di base. Infine, con questo primo volume, umilmente, si vuole introdurre una metodologia differente, più snella nella forma ma non meno importante nella sostanza e nei contenuti. Gli argomenti sono trattati in maniera progressiva. Ogni argomento o gruppo di essi, è seguito da una serie di esercizi utili alla pratica dell'argomentazione studiata. La misura di esercizio è relativamente breve. Le due chiavi, di Violino e di Basso, vengono trattate eodem modo fin dall'inizio, dando ad entrambe la stessa importanza. Naturalmente, allo studio del presente Manuale bisognerà affiancare lezioni teoriche e insegnamenti integrativi specifici per la completa preparazione dello studente.
