S. Military and published by . This book was released on 2018-08-26 with total page 68 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Army is the Nation's principal land force organized, trained, and equipped for prompt and sustained combat on land. Today's adversaries have studied how the U.S. Joint Force prefers to operate and adapted to develop capabilities that contest our operations on land, at sea, in the air, in space and cyberspace, as well as the electromagnetic spectrum. Enemies and adversaries operate beyond the physical battleground on battlegrounds of information, perception, political subversion, and criminality. Defeating future enemies that possess advanced capabilities calls for land forces operating as part of integrated joint teams that conduct simultaneous and sequential operations across multiple domains and on multiple battlegrounds and contested spaces. Army forces must be prepared to operate consistent with the concept of multi -domain battle, fighting and winning across all contested spaces creating temporary windows of superiority across multiple domains.TRADOC Pamphlet 525-3-5, The U.S. Army Functional Concept for Maneuver Support (AFC-MS), describes maneuver support required capabilities to conduct joint combined arms operations and multi-domain battle as described in TRADOC Pamphlet 525-3-1, The US. Army Operating Concept: Win in a Complex World and the Multi-Domain Battle: Combined Arms for the 21st Century white paper. Complementary and reinforcing maneuver support forces shape terrain, enable expeditionary maneuver, establish base camps, mitigate obstacles and hazards, and protect the force, populations, and resources. Maneuver support forces include engineering, military police, explosive ordnance disposal, and chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear units. Maneuver support capabilities, however, are not limited to specific branches and include a broad range of capabilities necessary to fight, preserve freedom of action, consolidate gains, and win in armed conflict. The proliferation of weapons of mass destruction is one of the most dangerous trends that effect future conflict. Weapons of mass destruction capabilities and technologies will increase risk to missions, forces, and civilian populations at home and abroad. Army forces must minimize vulnerabilities associated with chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, and high yield explosive hazards, and mitigate adversary capabilities to deploy or employ these weapons against the U.S. and mission partners during joint combined arms operations. Maneuver support forces provide the expertise and capabilities necessary to protect the force and accomplish the mission.

Book excerpt: TRADOC Pamphlet 525-3-5, The U.S. Army Functional Concept for Maneuver Support (AFC-MS) Feb 2017 TRADOC Pamphlet (TP) 525-3-5, the U.S. Army Functional Concept for Maneuver Support (AFC-MS) defines maneuver support forces, describes the future environment and threat, and discusses how maneuver support capabilities support joint combined arms operations across Army doctrine, organization, training, materiel, leadership and education, personnel, and facilities activities The AFC-MS captures tasks and systems (formerly found under the protection warfighting function and protection functional concept) in the concept and in the maneuver support warfighting function. This concept focuses on capabilities that support the Army's core competency of maneuver and includes all maneuver support capabilities. Maneuver support is defined as the related tasks and systems to understand and shape the environment, mitigate the effects of obstacles and hazards, and protect the force, populations, resources, and activities to enable joint combined arms operations. Maneuver support forces are elements that execute maneuver support functions defined in this concept across the range of military operations. Maneuver support forces, as defined in this concept, provide supported commanders with options, integrate efforts with multiple partners, operate across multiple domains, and present enemies and adversaries with multiple dilemmas. Maneuver support forces are agile, expert, and versatile and provide the right mix of capabilities with technical capabilities and information to enable commanders with freedom of action and contribute to mission success in any operation.

Book excerpt: TRADOC Pamphlet 525-3-6, The U.S. Army Functional Concept for Movement and Maneuver AFC-MM Feb 2017 The U.S. Army is the Nation's principal land force organized, trained, and equipped for prompt and sustained combat on land. Today's adversaries have studied how the U.S. Joint Force prefers to operate and adapted to develop capabilities that contest our operations on land, at sea, in the air, in space and cyberspace, as well as the electromagnetic spectrum, information environment, and human perception. Defeating future enemies that possess advanced capabilities calls for land forces operating as integrated joint teams that conduct simultaneous and sequential operations across multiple domains. Future Army forces will be prepared to fight and win across all contested spaces to create temporary windows of superiority across multiple domains that enable Joint Force freedom of action to seize, retain, and exploit the initiative to defeat enemies. This requires flexible and resilient ground formations that project combat power from land into other domains to enable Joint Force freedom of action, while seizing positions of relative advantage and controlling key terrain to consolidate gains. TRADOC Pamphlet 525-3-6, The U.S. Army Functional Concept for Movement and Maneuver (AFC-MM), expands on the ideas presented in TRADOC Pamphlet 525-3-1, The U.S. Army Operating Concept: Win in a Complex World (AOC). It describes how Army maneuver forces generate overmatch across all domains, the electromagnetic spectrum, information environment, and human perception. The concept also describes how Army forces project power across strategic distances and then transition rapidly to cross-domain maneuver, and how maneuver formations at echelons above brigade contribute to shaping operations and the close fight.

Book excerpt: U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command TRADOC Pamphlet 525-8-5 The U.S. Army Functional Concept for Engagement, expands on the ideas presented in TP 525-3-0, The U.S. Army Capstone Concept (ACC), and TP 525-3-1, The U.S. Army Operating Concept (AOC), and introduces a new warfighting function. The complexity and uncertainty in the global environment means the Army must become more agile, flexible, and well-prepared to tackle a broad range of operations through the development of innovative, low-cost, and small-footprint approaches to achieve U.S. security objectives. The Army also must possess a broad range of capabilities to shape future operational environments, maintain its lethality on the battlefield, and be able to leverage unified action partners to reduce demands, prevent, and end conflict. The engagement warfighting function will institutionalize into Army doctrine, training, education, and leader development, the capabilities and skills necessary to work with host nations, regional partners, and indigenous populations in a culturally attuned manner that allows bridging language barriers, opening lines of communication and connections with key political and military leaders in a way that is both immediate and lasting. It enhances interdependence between special operations forces, conventional forces, and unified action partners while incorporating the tenets of the emerging idea of the human domain. As a result, this warfighting function will contribute to mission accomplishment by providing better, more synchronized lethal and nonlethal capabilities to assess, shape, deter, and influence the decisions and behavior of a nation's security forces, government, and people. TP 525-8-5 effectively complements the six other warfighting functions and is fully nested in the broad vision outlined in both the ACC and AOC. This concept will lead force development and modernization efforts by establishing a common framework to capitalize on the integrative opportunities all of the warfighting functions provide to future land operations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We’ve all taken a dislike to someone for no real reason. But few of us nurture this hatred like the narrator of "Moon-Face". The target of his irrational malice is a man named John Claverhouse. With cold precision, the narrator sets to planning the man’s downfall. Why he has this urge, he can’t explain. But he knows he’ll feel immense satisfaction when John Claverhouse is made to suffer. In this macabre little tale, Jack London pinpoints a very common but unpleasant human trait. And then takes it to a horrifying extreme. This short story collection also includes "All Gold Canyon", which was adapted as part of the Netflix anthology movie "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs". Jack London (1876–1916) was one of the first American writers to achieve worldwide celebrity. He did so with rugged adventure stories set in forbidding landscapes. And heroes who survive by embracing their most primal instincts. His breakthrough best seller was "The Call of the Wild". Inspired by his time in the Klondike Gold Rush, this hard-hitting novel is told from the perspective of a sled dog named Buck. It’s inspired many adaptations, including a big-budget movie starring Harrison Ford. Among London’s other notable works are "White Fang", also featuring a canine protagonist, as well as "The Sea-Wolf", "Martin Eden" and "The Iron Heel".

Book excerpt: ‘KUMBA AFRICA’, is a compilation of African Short Stories written as fiction by Sampson Ejike Odum, nostalgically taking our memory back several thousands of years ago in Africa, reminding us about our past heritage. It digs deep into the traditional life style of the Africans of old, their beliefs, their leadership, their courage, their culture, their wars, their defeat and their victories long before the emergence of the white man on the soil of Africa. As a talented writer of rich resource and superior creativity, armed with in-depth knowledge of different cultures and traditions in Africa, the Author throws light on the rich cultural heritage of the people of Africa when civilization was yet unknown to the people. The book reminds the readers that the Africans of old kept their pride and still enjoyed their own lives. They celebrated victories when wars were won, enjoyed their New yam festivals and villages engaged themselves in seasonal wrestling contest etc; Early morning during harmattan season, they gathered firewood and made fire inside their small huts to hit up their bodies from the chilling cold of the harmattan. That was the Africa of old we will always remember. In Africa today, the story have changed. The people now enjoy civilized cultures made possible by the influence of the white man through his scientific and technological process. Yet there are some uncivilized places in Africa whose people haven’t tested or felt the impact of civilization. These people still maintain their ancient traditions and culture. In everything, we believe that days when people paraded barefooted in Africa to the swarmp to tap palm wine and fetch firewood from there farms are almost fading away. The huts are now gradually been replaced with houses built of blocks and beautiful roofs. Thanks to modern civilization. Donkeys and camels are no longer used for carrying heavy loads for merchants. They are now been replaced by heavy trucks and lorries. African traditional methods of healing are now been substituted by hospitals. In all these, I will always love and remember Africa, the home of my birth and must respect her cultures and traditions as an AFRICAN AUTHOR.

Book excerpt: Jessica Martin is not a nice girl. As Prom Queen and Captain of the cheer squad, she'd ruled her school mercilessly, looking down her nose at everyone she deemed unworthy. The most unworthy of them all? The "freak," Manson Reed: her favorite victim. But a lot changes after high school. A freak like him never should have ended up at the same Halloween party as her. He never should have been able to beat her at a game of Drink or Dare. He never should have been able to humiliate her in front of everyone. Losing the game means taking the dare: a dare to serve Manson for the entire night as his slave. It's a dare that Jessica's pride - and curiosity - won't allow her to refuse. What ensues is a dark game of pleasure and pain, fear and desire. Is it only a game? Only revenge? Only a dare? Or is it something more? The Dare is an 18+ erotic romance novella and a prequel to the Losers Duet. Reader discretion is strongly advised. This book contains graphic sexual scenes, intense scenes of BDSM, and strong language. A full content note can be found in the front matter of the book.
