Book Synopsis Two-phase Pressure Drop in a Natural-circulation Boiling Channel by : B. M. Hoglund
Download or read book Two-phase Pressure Drop in a Natural-circulation Boiling Channel written by B. M. Hoglund and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Experimental two-phase pressure drop data were obtained from a 1/4 x 2 x 60-inch vertical, uniformly heated, test section. The local volume fraction of steam was measured simultaneously with the pressure drop, thus allowing separation of the terms for hydrostatic and acceleration pressure drops from the over-all static pressure drop. The results are expressed in terms of an average two-phase friction factor multiplier, R = DELTA P(sub TPF)/ DELTA P(LO), and are compared with the Martinelli-Nelson correlation, the Lottes-Flinn correlation, and a correlation combining that of Martinelli-Nelson and a flow-rate parameter. The ranges of variables include: pressure from 150 to 600 psig; power density from 17.2 to 94.5 kw/liter of coolant; sub-cooling from 4.8 to 25.7 deg F; exit qualities from 0.009 to 0.065; exit steam volume fraction from 0.19 to 0.77; and velocities from 2.56 to 3.43 fps.

Download or read book Laminar Flow Forced Convection in Ducts written by R. K. Shah and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-06-28 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Laminar Flow Forced Convection in Ducts is a sourcebook for compact heat exchanger analytical data. This book describes the analytical solutions for laminar fluid flow and forced convection heat transfer in circular and noncircular pipes, including applicable differential equations and boundary conditions involving velocity and temperature problems of fluid flow. The book also discusses fluid flow—how much power is required to pump fluids through the heat exchanger, as well as the heat transfer—the determination of q" distribution, and the temperature of fluid and walls. The text also analyzes the coolant or heat transfer fluid flows in a nuclear power reactor composed of a bundle of circular section fuel rods located inside a round tube. R.A. Axford addresses fluid flow and heat transfers results for the rod bundle geometry in "Heat Transfer in Rod Bundles." The book also provides an overview and guidelines that can be used for the designer and the applied mathematician. This book is suitable for engineers working in electronics, aerospace, instrumentation, and biomechanics that use cooling or heating exchanges or solar collection systems.

This book was released on 2021-04-30 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book covers aspects of multiphase flow and heat transfer during phase change processes, focusing on boiling and condensation in microscale channels. The authors present up-to-date predictive methods for flow pattern, void fraction, pressure drop, heat transfer coefficient and critical heat flux, pointing out the range of operational conditions that each method is valid. The first four chapters are dedicated on the motivation to study multiphase flow and heat transfer during phase change process, and the three last chapters are focused on the analysis of heat transfer process during boiling and condensation. During the description of the models and predictive methods, the trends are discussed and compared with experimental findings.

Book Synopsis Two-Phase Flow, Boiling, and Condensation by : S. Mostafa Ghiaasiaan
Download or read book Two-Phase Flow, Boiling, and Condensation written by S. Mostafa Ghiaasiaan and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2014-08-07 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text is an introduction to gas-liquid two-phase flow, boiling and condensation for graduate students, professionals, and researchers in mechanical, nuclear, and chemical engineering. The book provides a balanced coverage of two-phase flow and phase change fundamentals, well-established art and science dealing with conventional systems, and the rapidly developing areas of microchannel flow and heat transfer. It is based on the author's more than 15 years of teaching experience. Instructors teaching multiphase flow have had to rely on a multitude of books and reference materials. This book remedies that problem by covering all the topics that are essential for a graduate first course. Among the important areas that are discussed in the book, and are not adequately covered by virtually all the available textbooks, are: two-phase flow model conservation equations and their numerical solution; condensation with and without noncondensables; and two-phase flow, boiling, and condensation in mini and microchannels.
