Book excerpt: In writing this book I felt a need to explain how important it is that one knows himself/herself while growing up in life which as you can see I didn't. That inner feeling that I kept getting was the enemy trying to put me in a position I could never come out of. It controlled me during most of my life. There were always signs pointing to the right choices to make but when you are caught up in what you feel is the success of your life, you never pay attention to those signs, you go with the flow of the moment. Twilight Nights has a second part to it that will explain in detail that recognition of signs and how to respond to them so you are aware of who is leading you. It shouldn't take a life time to here your calling unless you've been transformed into one that has become a part of this world. Thank God he let me know I was not apart of this world just in this world and that's what saved me. This book is a very interesting read and for those that just like entertainment you will get a thrill out of this book but for those looking for something else there is a message in this message that only the spirit of God can reveal. The word of God says we fight against principalities and wicked spirits in high places. Learn to know God so you can stand against the wiles of the enemy and his Spirit will guide you into his truth. ENJOY

Download or read book Circle of Vines written by Richard Figiel and published by SUNY Press. This book was released on 2014-09-22 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traces the history of the New York wine industry as it evolved across the state. Winegrower and journalist Richard Figiel offers the first comprehensive history of New York wine, following its turbulent evolution across the state and emerging as a dynamic player in the world of fine wine. He begins by examining New Yorks distinctive viticultural roots and the geologic forces that shaped the states terrain for winegrowing. Starting with early efforts to grow grapes for wine in the Hudson Valley, the story moves west to the Finger Lakes and Lake Erie, circles around the state from Long Island to the North Country, and, finally, to contemporary New York City. Through industry booms and busts, he explores the New York wine industrys continuing process of reinvention by resourceful immigrants, family dynasties, giant corporations, and back-to-the-land dreamers. Moving across centuries of winemaking, Figiel unfolds an extraordinary array of grape species, varieties, and wines. This is a clear and coherent themethe evolution of an important modern wine industry in New York. It is the most complete history of this topic. Ian A. Merwin, viticulturalist at Cornell University, coauthor of A Growers Guide to Organic Apples What works is when the book weaves between providing basic history and then anecdotes that illuminate that history. I had difficulty putting the book down because it was entertaining. This should make a very fine contribution to the literature of wine-making in New York. John C. Hartsock, author of Seasons of a Finger Lakes Winery

Book Synopsis Martha's Vineyard in the American Revolution by : Thomas Dresser
Download or read book Martha's Vineyard in the American Revolution written by Thomas Dresser and published by Arcadia Publishing. This book was released on 2021-11-29 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As an isolated island outpost, Martha's Vineyard faced some unique challenges during the American Revolution. Neutrality was maintained at the start of the war due to the impact of the British regulations on the fishing and whaling industries. While political expediency may have dominated the day, Vineyard Patriots protected their homeland against the Royal Navy and contributed to the revolutionary effort against marauding British redcoats. In 1778, two key events--one involving three young women and the second an armada of forty naval ships--crystalized the opinion of Vineyarders that they should no longer remain neutral to British incursions on the Island and, more broadly, on American soil. Join local author Tom Dresser as he reveals the unheralded contributions of islanders to the fight for freedom.

Book Synopsis Social, Cultural and Economic Impacts of Wine in New Zealand. by : Peter J. Howland
Download or read book Social, Cultural and Economic Impacts of Wine in New Zealand. written by Peter J. Howland and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-04-16 with total page 285 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New Zealand’s wine came to the world’s attention in the late 1980’s with its production of some of the best quality sauvignon blancs. Since then the industry has grown significantly and has increasingly gained an international reputation as a producer of quality, boutique wines. This volume provides an innovative, multi-disciplinary and critical review of wine production and consumption focusing specifically on the fascinating wine industry of New Zealand. It considers the history, production, aesthetics, consumption and role of place (identity) from multi-disciplinary perspectives to offer insight into the impacts of wine production and consumption. By linking the study of wine to broadly constructed social, cultural, historical and transnational processes the book contributes to contemporary debates on the “life of commodities”, “social class” and “place and people”. Throughout comparisons are made to other internationally recognized wine regions such as Bordeaux and Burgundy. This title furthers the understanding of the social/cultural context of wine production and consumption in this region and will be valuable reading to students, researchers and academics interested in gastronomy, wine studies, tourism and hospitality.
