Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Believe Me is a lively and dramatic account of one man's struggle to make two cultures meet. In 1990 Zitouni started broadcasting news for MBC (Middle-eastern Broadcasting Company) in Arabic from London. MBC was the first station to give Arab viewers, at home and in the worldwide diaspora, their own news programmes. For the first time, interviewees were heard speaking demotic Arabic of their own regions. MBC's Western impartiality and lack of deference was controversial but on the whole, popular. As a country boy born into newly independent Algeria in the 1960s, Zitouni had been educated by the state and sent to Britain on a journalism scholarship. He became a war correspondent in '91. His career has taken him to trouble spots in Yemen, Chechnya, Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Somalia, Bosnia, Indonesia and many other countries. He has made Panorama-style documentaries in both American continents and interviewed historic figures. He was detained and interrogated by Gaddafi's army for many weeks, and interviewed some of the wilder insurgents fighting Bashar al Assad. Zitouni recounts the ups and downs of his own fast-developing career against a background in which commercial and local political considerations have come to play a much greater part. Based for many years in London, Paris and Dubai, he has seen the agenda of Arab television changing. Although MBC is funded by the Saudi royal family, its ethos when it began was impartial and cautiously liberal. In 1994, after a culture clash with a new BBC Arabic service, the Qatari royals set up the rival Al Jazeera to do what MBC had always done. In response, MBC changed tack, offering multiple entertainment streams and eventually a subsidiary: a re-invention of its original news channel called Al Arabiya. While all this was going on Zitouni was Director General of a third channel that promised to lead the field - but turned out to belong to a billionaire fraudster. Now he shows us where Arab TV seems to be going...

After service as a naval intelligence officer, he joined the FBI in 1963. Over the course of four decades, he served the Bureau with distinction, exemplifying the cutting-edge of crisis management. In 1987, he earned fame as the on-scene commander during a riot at the federal prison in Atlanta, where he negotiated an end to a violent thirteen-day siege--without any loss of life. His skillful management of the Oklahoma City bombing case led to the quick arrests of Timothy McVeigh and Terry Nichols. Kennedy capped his brilliant career by serving as the FBI's highest-ranking official under Director Louis J. Freeh. Imparting a wealth of law enforcement experience and of wisdom about how to succeed at a job one truly loves, On-Scene Commander is for anyone with an interest in the real world of the FBI.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The people I've met in my life were the impetus for writing this book. They are the good, bad and ugly people. Those I remember the most are those who were good to me and helped me along the way to become a professional broadcaster and newspaper journalist. Others were not kind and often said aloud that I would fail at achieving my goals. One relative went so far as to ask "Why can't you hold a job?"" He knew nothing of how unstable the job market was at the time for the jobs I held. It did not deter me; it fueled my desire to succeed. I knew what I wanted out of life and that is what I am currently doing. Sadly many who were unkind to me were unwilling to help people in need. Coffins don't have pockets was a phrase my parents often used. My mother said to me that she had two words of wisdom for me. They were not 'thank you those two words were BE NICE. It is the legacy I want to leave behind.

Book excerpt: One of the Best Books of the Year The Washington Post • Los Angeles Times • Milwaukee Journal Sentinel The story of Frank Sinatra’s second act, Sinatra finds the Chairman on top of the world, riding high after an Oscar victory—and firmly reestablished as the top recording artist of his day. Following Sinatra from the mid-1950s to his death in 1998, Kaplan uncovers the man behind the myth, revealing by turns the peerless singer, the (sometimes) powerful actor, the business mogul, the tireless lover, and—of course—the close associate of the powerful and infamous. It was in these decades that the enduring legacy of Frank Sinatra was forged, and Kaplan vividly captures “Ol’ Blue Eyes” in his later years. The sequel to the New York Times best-selling Frank, here is the concluding volume of the definitive biography of "The Entertainer of the Century."

Like a powerful heart activation it is still working on her. Valorie hopes that sharing the books message will benefit others in the same way. It took a Buddha dog a life time and a half to get the message through to Valorie that she is an extraordinary person living on a beautiful, loving planet in a time of exciting vibratory growth. It started out as an exercise meant to wake Valorie up, and now its a gift for those who need a wake up call of their own, whether they live with a companion animal or not. It will definitely make you think about what your pets are really doing with you. The planetary vibration is shifting into higher frequencies - we are moving forward to change our DNA and improve as human beings. To do this its important to remember who we are and how to appreciate, understand, and be kind to ourselves, because this is how we open our hearts to grow with our Mother Earth. Dont let another day go by without opening your heart to the realization that you are extraordinary, too.
