Book Synopsis Texas Travel Forecasting Annotated Bibliography by :
Download or read book Texas Travel Forecasting Annotated Bibliography written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This bibliography is part of an on-going research project between the Texas Transportation Institute (TTI) and the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). The bibliography has attempted to include all significant reports prepared by the Institute in support of urban transportation travel demand modeling and forecasting practice in Texas. An annotation is provided for those reports which still may be of interest to practitioners. Several reports which are now obsolete due to improvements in computer technology are included for completeness and historical interest. In addition several reports prepared by TxDOT which bear directly on travel demand modeling practice are included. The Department reports are not complete and users of this bibliography are requested to provide the Institute with copies of Department reports not presently included so that they may be included in future revisions. The bibliography is organized into six sections: trip generation, trip distribution, traffic assignment, travel surveys, air quality analysis, and overview. Reports are placed in each section according to the phase of modeling covered by the report. However, since the modeling phases are interdependent, most reports will cover aspects of more than one phase. Reports which clearly cover more than one modeling phase are placed in the overview section.
Book Synopsis Procedures for Estimating Demographic Data for TRIPCAL5 by : Patricia Bass
Download or read book Procedures for Estimating Demographic Data for TRIPCAL5 written by Patricia Bass and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This manual was developed as part of a project funded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to implement methods of improving transportation planning techniques and is based on research conducted in a previous project to examine methods of improving transportation planning techniques. Within these research projects, the need to develop a set of simplified procedures for developing the input data for travel demand forecasting that can be used by small area Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) was identified. Many MPOs under 200,000 in population do not have the staff or financial resources necessary to develop the variables using traditional models or methods. A step-by-step process was developed to guide small MPOs in the development of the base year and forecast year population, employment, household and income data needed to run TRIPCAL5, the trip generation model used by TxDOT in preparing the travel demand forecasts. Data sources as well as a recommended growth allocation process are included.

Book Synopsis Residential Location Choice by : Francesca Pagliara
Download or read book Residential Location Choice written by Francesca Pagliara and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-08-12 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The effective planning of residential location choices is one of the great challenges of contemporary societies and requires forecasting capabilities and the consideration of complex interdependencies which can only be handled by complex computer models. This book presents a range of approaches used to model residential locations within the context of developing land-use and transport models. These approaches illustrate the range of choices that modellers have to make in order to represent residential choice behaviour. The models presented in this book represent the state-of-the-art and are valuable both as key building blocks for general urban models, and as representative examples of complexity science.
Download or read book Travel Forecasting Guidelines written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 316 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Implementing transportation improvements requires a significant effort that may involve several levels of planning; social, economic and environmental documentation; geometric and structural design; operations analysis; signalized intersection design; and/or pavement design. Accurate and timely traffic estimates and forecasts are basic to the entire transportation planning process and are essential to enable the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to effectively meet the mobility needs of the state. This guide provides an introduction to the transportation planning and travel demand forecasting requirements and establishes the policies, processes and methodologies for developing traffic forecasts for the various stages of TxDOT project development.
