Download or read book Trinity Jones: The Queen of The Ghetto written by Tiffanya Richardson and published by Elm Hill. This book was released on 2019-08-06 with total page 178 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In a world where everyone seems to be chasing a dream, we find our main character, Queen Trinity violently sprinting trying to escape her past. For Queen, her very existence has turned into a never-ending nightmare. Passionate and hopelessly creative, this lost poem from Oakland California finds comfort in expression through the art of written word. On the surface she appears to be a confident Queen despite a few wrong turns, but her story lies beneath the surface. No matter how hard she tries, she can’t seem to manifest the dreams that she often plagued by. Her faith in Jesus provides her with wings and guidelines she needs to fly, but will she have the courage to live boldly enough to stop dreaming, and actually take flight?

Book Synopsis Dismissing Jesus by : Douglas M. Jones
Download or read book Dismissing Jesus written by Douglas M. Jones and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2013-05-07 with total page 330 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the way of the cross? Why does it create resistance? How do we answer objections to it? The revival of interest in Christ's kingdom and radical discipleship has produced a wave of discussions, but sometimes those discussions are scattered. This book aims to pull together in one place the core claims of the way of the cross. It aims to examine the deeply cherished assumptions that hinder us from hearing Jesus's call. When we do that, we'll see that the gospel of Christ is not primarily about getting into heaven or about living a comfortable, individually pious, middle-class life. It is about being free from the ancient, pervasive, and delightful oppression of Mammon in order to create a very different community, the church, an alternative city-kingdom here and now on earth by means of living and celebrating the way of the cross--the reign of joyful weakness, renunciation, self-denial, sharing, foolishness, community, and love overcoming evil.

Book Synopsis Music, Science, Philosophy by : Jamie C. Kassler
Download or read book Music, Science, Philosophy written by Jamie C. Kassler and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2023-05-31 with total page 321 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book stresses the interrelatedness of knowledge by extricating models that cut across traditional disciplinary boundaries. For example, science can find models from the technology and semantic field of music, music can find its models from the technology and semantic field of science, and each domain may be guided by a philosophical or metaphysical principle - thus, the title of the book. But the book itself is structured as a mirror image of its title. Chapters 1-6 provide instances of the role of music in such domains as epistemology and logic, as well as in the early modern sciences of developmental biology, continuum mechanics, anatomy and physiological psychology, whereas Chapters 7-10 provide instances of what some other domains of knowledge have given back to the philosophy and theory of music.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Continuation of the reference work that originated with Robert Dodsley, written and published each year, which records and analyzes the year’s major events, developments and trends in Great Britain and throughout the world. After 1815 the usual form became a number of chapters on Great Britain, paying particular attention to the proceedings of Parliament, followed by chapters covering other countries in turn, no longer limited to Europe. The expansion of the History came at the expense of the sketches, reviews and other essays so that the nineteenth-century publication ceased to have the miscellaneous character of its eighteenth-century forebear, although poems continued to be included until 1862, and a small number of official papers and other important texts continue to be reproduced.

Book Synopsis Black Christology and the Quest for Authenticity by : John H. McClendon III
Download or read book Black Christology and the Quest for Authenticity written by John H. McClendon III and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2019-05-03 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Black Christology and the Quest for Authenticity: A Philosophical Appraisal constitutes a philosophical inquiry on Black Theology and its attendant Black Christology. Explicitly, the philosophical examination of Black Theology conceptually maps its quest for establishing Black Christology as an authentic form within Christian theology. This text critically expounds on the methodologies and arguments, which guide how Black Theology specifically affirms Black Christology as the definitive paradigm for authentic Christianity. Significantly, the racialized character of Black Theology immediately sets this discourse within the context of philosophy of race. Clearly, the philosophy of race in terms of its substance and scope is continually expanding. Notably, the philosophy of religion in its conceptual association with the African American experience considerably enriches the content of the philosophy of race. Therefore, Black Christology and the Quest for Authenticity: A Philosophical Appraisal stands as a unique contribution to philosophy of race. Summarily, while this book tackles the formidable problem of Christian theological subject matter, nonetheless, the reader must be aware that this is not a work executed methodologically in any theological manner, inclusive of Christian theology. Subsequently, while the object of our investigation substantively remains theological in character, the method of investigation is guided by philosophical inquiry, which is based on secular principles. Furthermore, although, most mainstream works in philosophy of religion, along with theology neglect to exam African American theologians and philosophers, the subject matter of Black Christology substantially facilitates in filling this intellectual void.
