Obgleich jeder Bürger Deutschlands Grundrechte besitzt, können diese durchaus auch verletzt und missachtet werden. Vor allem Kinder und Jugendliche werden häufig, aufgrund ihrer Verwundbarkeit, ihrer geistigen, aber auch körperlichen, Würde beraubt. Sie werden missbraucht. Jedoch ist die sexualisierte Gewalt nicht das einzige Beispiel für eine Missachtung der Würde. Auch das ,,Nichtbeantworten‘‘ von kindlichen Gefühlen und Bedürfnissen, wie das Dialogisieren zwischen Bezugsperson und Kind oder auch die liebevolle Umarmung und sogar die Verweigerung des Augenkontaktes (,,still face‘‘) sind Formen von Missachtung. Denn nur durch Beziehungsangebote wird ein Urvertrauen aufgebaut, welches Kindern Verarbeitungsmöglichkeiten vermittelt, die dazu beitragen, dass Heranwachsende mit Belastungssituationen konstruktiv umzugehen lernen. Wenn Kinder jedoch in Situationen geraten, in denen sie allein gelassen werden, sie ungeschützt sind oder schlicht und ergreifend überrascht werden und sie keineswegs in der psychischen oder auch physischen Verfassung sind, um das Erlebte zu verarbeiten, dann entsteht eine Traumatisierung (vgl. Kohler-Spiegel 2017:10- 11). Im Zuge dessen und in Hinblick auf die Relevanz der ansteigenden Gewaltverbrechen an Kindern, wird es auch für pädagogische Fachkräfte zunehmend essenziell die Hintergründe von Traumatisierungen nachvollziehen und dementsprechend professionell und adäquat handeln zu können.

Book excerpt: There are two tendencies in present public discussions.Social problems have their causes in the individual, and are thus not a problem of socio-economic inequality. Consequently, we find an increasing policy in Europe of selfactivation and self-help as substitutes of social work. On the other hand, new types of social vulnerability and challenges for social work and social policy are detected which are discussed in the book in their European dimensions. Beginning in the last century in Europe, processes of social exclusion are discussed as common phenomena of the crisis in social welfare systems. They have their origins in the radical changes in paid employment, the weakening of family ties, and the increasing incapability of the welfare state to promote social inclusion. New types of ,social vulnerabilities’ are emerging - containing chances as well as risks. They are discussed in two ways. On the one hand the implementation of indicator-based management systems of social services is attempted, which implies a range of chances and risks in ethical and professional self-image. On the other hand there are self-help movements, social networks and other social types of resilience – which are often a complement or support to Social Work. Yet there is a policy to substitute Social Work by a strategy of self-activation. Both developments are signs of the present and indicators of the future of Social Work. They show the necessity of clarifying the social and political scopes and prospects of Social Work in societies at the crossroads of enhancing civility, human development and social security or overburden the vulnerable, who face new dimensions of psychological, ecological and economic distress. This book is an attempt to bring together several European discussions concerning Social Work and social politics.

Book excerpt: Bad Blood reveals that Bastille is a synth-driven band that isn't particularly arty, something of a rarity during the electronic pop revival of the 2000s and 2010s. Where many of their contemporaries used the glamour of synth-pop's '80s heyday and electronic music's infinite possibilities to craft shiny pop fantasies, Bastille builds on the glossy, anthemic approach they set forth on the Laura Palmer EP (the title track, which is included here, might also be the least arty song inspired by David Lynch's surreal soap opera Twin Peaks). Early highlights like "Pompeii," "These Streets," and the title track boast panoramic choruses and sleek arrangements that hint at a kinship with Empire of the Sun and Delphic, while the handclaps and popping bassline on the otherwise moody "Icarus" recall Hot Chip at their most confessional. However, most of Bad Blood suggests that Bastille are actually an electronically enhanced upgrade of sweeping British pop traditionalists like Keane or Coldplay. The band updates "Oblivion"'s piano balladry with ping-ponging drums and contrasts Dan Smith's throaty singing and searching lyrics ("There's a hole in my soul/Can you fill it?") with a tumbling beat on "Flaws." Like the aforementioned acts, Bastille has a way with heartfelt melodies and choruses that resonate, particularly on the driving "Things We Lost in the Fire" and "Get Home," where the slightly processed vocals also evoke Sia, Imogen Heap, and other electronic-friendly singer/songwriters. While the band occasionally gets a little too self-serious on the album's second half, Bad Blood is a solid, polished debut that fans of acts like Snow Patrol (who don't mind more electronics in the mix) might appreciate more than synth-pop aficionados. ~ Heather Phares
